Applications

This appliance is an electric raclette grill, suitable for low-fat grilling of meat, fish and vegetables and for cheese 'au gratin'.

Any use other than that described in these instructions must be considered improper and may lead to personal injury or material damage.

Before first use

- Remove any packing materials completely.

- Wipe the grill plate, grill stone and mini-pans with a damp cloth before using the appliance for the first time.

- Leave the appliance with the stone, plate and minipans (without spatula) in place to heat up for about 10 minutes without food to allow any unpleasant odour to dissipate (you may notice slight smoke coming from the appliance). Ensure adequate ventilation by opening windows or balcony doors.

- Leave the appliance to cool down.

- Clean the appliance afterwards as described in Cleaning and care.

Grill stone

- Before you start up the appliance, place the grill stone on the appliance next to the grill plate with the smooth side facing upwards. Make sure that the grill stone is completely within the appliance frame. Never place the cold stone on the preheated appliance.

- The stone can be used for cooking vegetables, sliced meat or fish etc. as required.

- This stone is entirely natural material. Small cracks resulting from natural expansion and contraction during heating and cooling, as well as a change to a darker colour are normal and have no detrimental effects.

- Do not place any frozen food or items containing vinegar (such as pickled gherkins or mustard) on the stone.

Grill plate

- Before using the appliance, place the grill plate on the appliance next to the grill stone with the ribbed side facing upwards. Make sure that the grill plate is completely within the appliance frame.

- Lightly oil the grill plate before use.

Mini-pans and spatulas

- Unused mini-pans can be placed on the parking level at the bottom of the appliance. Do not place the empty mini-pans directly underneath the heating element during cooking.

- Keep the spatulas outside the appliance during cooking.

- The spatulas can be stored on the mini-pan handle after use.

Temperature controller and indicator light

- Press the temperature controller to switch on the appliance.

- Turn the temperature controller to set the temperature between MIN and MAX.

- After plugging in the power plug, the indicator light starts to flash. After switching on the appliance, the light indicator switches to a solid light.

Operation

  • Place the grill stone and grill plate on the appliance.
  • Insert the power plug into a wall socket. The indicator light starts to flash.
  • Switch on the appliance by pressing the temperature controller and then set the temperature to MAX. The indicator light switches to a solid light.
  • Let the appliance preheat for about 10 minutes to reach the required temperature. However, the grill stone requires a pre-heating time of around 25 minutes.
  • Place food on the grill plate or grill stone as required.
  • Put the raclette cheese into the mini-pans. Place the mini-pans in the appliance, under the heating element, and leave them until the cheese has melted.
  • When you have finished cooking, switch off the appliance and pull out the power plug.

How to prepare raclette cheese

Use about 200 to 300 grammes of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices of about 3 to 5 mm thickness and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese. Any other fast melting cheese, however, is also suitable.

Useful tips!

  • For the ultimate grilling experience, remove the meat from the fridge about 30 minutes before grilling and leave to rest covered.
  • Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked.
  • Only use spatulas or other utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to avoid damaging the surfaces of the mini-pans and the grill plate.
  • When grilling large quantities, we recommend that you carefully remove the accumulated grill fat from time to time, e.g. with kitchen paper.

Cleaning and care

  • Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down.

  • Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth.
  • Remove the grill plate. Wash the grill plate, mini-pans and spatulas in the dishwasher or with lukewarm water and detergent. Then, wipe dry with a cloth.
