5. STORAGE SUGGESTIONS
- This device intended to be used exclusively for wine preservation.
- The Bolero GrandSommelier Duo 77000 Black is designed to hold a maximum of 77 750 ml Bordeaux bottles, following the layout shown in figure 5. You can store larger bottles, but you must first ensure that they do not prevent the door from closing properly.
- Capacity will vary depending on how you store your bottles or the size of your bottles.
Wines and suggested temperatures:
| Temperature (°C) Temperature (°F) | ||
| Red wine | 14-18 | 57-64 |
| Dry/white wine 9-14 4B-57 | ||
| Rose wine 10-11 | 50-52 | |
| Sparkling wine | 5.9 | 41.48 |
PLEASE NOTE:
These temperatures are approximate as it depends on many factors. Always take into account the manufacturer's indications.
- Exposure to light, vibrations or fluctuations in temperature and humidity can cause the wine to spoil. When properly stored, wines not only maintain their quality, but many improve in aroma, flavour and complexity as they mature.
-
Wines kept at higher temperatures age faster. Wines exposed to temperatures above 18°C (64°F) will lose flavour and aroma.
-
If the wine is kept at too low a temperature, it can lead to the appearance of harmful deposits. A humidity of 60% - 70% is ideal to prevent corks from shrinking.
- After opening a bottle of wine, the wine comes into contact with air. Therefore, it is best to store the rest of the bottle in an upright position, to minimise the surface area of the wine that comes into contact with the air.
- Once opened, the wine will remain drinkable for two days in the case of whites or three days in the case of reds, provided that the bottle has been resealed. Make sure that the seal is tight by checking the stop.
- In most wine shops you can buy special stoppers that keep sparkling wine and champagne bubbly for a day or two after opening.
- If stored correctly, white wines can keep well for up to two years. Full-bodied reds age well for ten years and dessert wines keep well for up to twenty years.
- When you buy a bottle of wine, you should immediately store it in the wine cooler.
- Cheaper bottles of wine do not age as well as more expensive ones.
- To make the most of the wine's aroma and flavour, never fill more than half a glass at a time. It will also help if the shape of the glass is suitable for the wine. The size and shape of the wine glass will determine the intensity and complexity of the aroma. The stem should be long enough to avoid hand contact with the bowl of the cup and should be tulip-shaped or tapered at the top.
