4. UTILISATION DE L'APPAREIL ALLERGOLUX

Thank you for purchasing the AllergoLux appliance from LANAFORM®. AllergoLux is a phototherapy appliance. In a practical, simple and effective way, it will help you prevent and treat the symptoms of respiratory allergies. You can use AllergoLux without medical counterindication and without any risk of a negative interaction with antihistamines or corticosteroids that you may take. AllergoLux has no negative consequences on the nasal mucous tissue, even when used for extended periods of time.

PHOTOTHERAPY WITH ALLERGOLUX

The red light used for phototherapy sessions with your AllergoLux appliance has no negative effects on the nasal mucous tissue. Even when you use AllergoLux for an extended period of time, you run no risk of damaging the mucous tissue as long as you respect the limit of three sessions per day. If your doctor recommends medicinal treatment due to the intensity of your allergic symptoms, you can use phototherapy along with the treatment with no danger. There is no known interaction with anti-allergen drugs, such as antihistamines and corticosteroids.

The advantages:

• The sessions are short (about 4 1/2 minutes) but effective, and can be carried out almost anywhere.
• There are no side effects, and no pharmacological effects on the organism.

Clinical tests have shown a significant reduction in allergic symptoms caused by pollen with the use of AllergoLux. Some symptoms decrease, or even disappear completely in just a few hours. For most patients, a significant improvement in their general condition can be observed after two weeks at most.

When first using the appliance, some people may have a runny nose, but this stops quickly.

3. ACTIVATION / INSERTING THE BATTERY

The AllergoLux appliance operates on 4 alkaline batteries 1.5 V, type AAA LR03.

Push on the identifying mark on the cover of the battery compartment (on the back of the appliance) and push it in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Insert the batteries as indicated. Put the battery compartment cover back on and push it upward until you hear a click.

4. USING THE ALLERGOLUX APPLIANCE

Connect the nasal applicator cable by inserting the plug in the jack on the AllergoLux appliance.

Spread the nasal applicator gently and insert the diodes deep into the nostrils. The appliance should not cause any pain that could bother you; press the "ON/OFF" button for more than one second to activate the appliance, and choose either the « continual » or the « pulse » mode.

Then set the timer and the intensity of the light. This appliance turns off automatically when the time has run out. If you want to interrupt the session, push on the "ON/OFF" button for more than two seconds to stop the appliance.

Which mode and which intensity should I choose?

Your appliance has two operating modes (continuous and pulse) and three different intensities (low - medium - high)

For your first sessions, we recommend using the « continuous » mode at « high » intensity. The ideal time for a session is a maximum of five minutes.

This programme is optimal to relieve suffering from respiratory allergies.

If you find the programme unpleasant, or if it is uncomfortable, we recommend using the « pulse » mode. The ideal programme can be set up to nine minutes at maximum intensity.

If you still feel uncomfortable with this selection, try reducing the intensity of the appliance as well as the operating time.

Note: Sensitivity to allergens is different for each person, as is receptivity to exposure to light using phototherapy. Consequently, we cannot establish an adequate programme for each individual. We recommend respecting our advice and adjusting the settings to suit your appreciation and the results obtained.

Comments:

• If the signal light flashes red, this means the cable is not inserted properly.
• if the appliance is connected correctly, you will see a green signal light when the appliance is turned on.
• If the battery capacity is low, the low battery signal light will come on.

5. DURATION AND FREQUENCY OF USE

• Initially, we recommend using your AllergoLux three times a day. Once the allergic symptoms have decreased, you can reduce the sessions to twice a day. After significant improvement of your general condition, you can use the appliance just once a day.
• You can do the first session in the morning, before or after breakfast, and the last in the evening before going to bed. During the day, you can take the appliance with you and use it when you get a chance.

6. PREVENTIVE USE

You can use your AllergoLux not only in the acute allergy phase, but also preventively. No doubt you know when your allergy tends to come on and what type of pollen triggers it. Check the pollen situation, on Internet for example, to find out when various types of pollen are present in your area, so you can begin prevention in due time.

Begin preventive sessions one week before the presence of pollen to which you are allergic is announced. We recommend doing two or three sessions per day, depending on the intensity of your allergy.

7. SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

• The appliance is approved for home therapy, and should not be used in a professional context. It cannot replace consulting your doctor.
  • Children must use the appliance under adult supervision only.

• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

• When the batteries are empty, take them to a nearby waste treatment centre for recycling.

• Do not short-circuit the battery and do not throw it in a fire.
• Use the appliance exclusively as described in the instructions. Any other use could damage the appliance, and void the guarantee.
• Use only the nasal applicator supplied with the appliance.
• Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Take it to a specialized dealer.
• Sessions using them AllergoLux appliance are generally perceived as pleasant. In the event of sudden pain or discomfort, stop using the appliance and ask your doctor for advice.
• The appliance is only partially effective if at all in the following cases:

- Chronic inflammation of the nasal mucous tissue,

- Deformation of the septum or polypus.

8. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Clean the two diodes after each use with a damp cloth and mild soap.
• Never use aggressive cleansers or stiff brushes.
• Do not immerse the cable or the appliance with the diodes in water. If liquid penetrates the appliance, remove the batteries immediately and contact your dealer.
• You can disinfect the nasal applicator with an alcohol disinfectant, such as ethanol 70%.
• Remove the batteries from the appliance if you are not planning on using it for a prolonged period. This will prevent the batteries from leaking.
• If the appliance is used in keeping with this instruction sheet, no additional maintenance or control is needed.

9. RECOMMENDATIONS ON ELIMINATING WASTE

- Packaging consists exclusively of materials that are harmless for the environment, and that can be taken to the waste treatment centre in your town to be used as recycled materials. The cardboard can be put in a recipient for paper. The packaging films should be taken to a nearby waste treatment centre for recycling.

- When you no longer use the appliance, discard it in an environment-friendly way, in keeping with legal regulations. First remove the battery and discard it in an appropriate container for recycling.

Important! Batteries should never be discarded with household waste.

11. GUARANTEE

LANAFORM® hereby guarantees that this product is exempt from any material or manufacturing defect for a period of two years as from the date of purchase, except for the following specifications.

The guarantee for this LANAFORM® product does not cover any damage caused by abusive or unauthorized use, any modification made to the product or any other circumstances beyond the control of LANAFORM®.

LANAFORM® cannot be held liable for any type of accessory or special damage.

On receiving the appliance LANAFORM® will repair or replace your AllergoLux appliance as appropriate, and will reimburse all expenses incurred. Any maintenance activity on this product, entrusted to a person other than the LANAFORM® Service Centre will void this guarantee.
