Tip: Keep the packaging material in case you wish to return the appliance for repairs at a later time.
- Inspect the appliance for damage. Do not put the appliance into operation if there are signs of visible damage; in this case, contact our customer service department.
- Clean all parts with a damp cloth, as described in "Cleaning and care".
- With the appliance closed, position it so that the indicator lamps for "ON" (red) and "Ready" (green) point upward.
- Connect the appliance to a power socket (230 V\~, 50/60 Hz). Both indicator lamps light up.
- Pre-heating begins.
- Heat the appliance for a few minutes without batter to eliminate any residue from the manufacturing process. Open the kitchen window while the appliance is heating without batter. Afterwards, the appliance may show signs of use; this will not affect the operation of the appliance and does
not constitute grounds for complaint. If you notice a slight odour while the appliance heats up, this is normal and completely harmless.
- Before first use of the appliance, use a brush to apply heat-resistant fat, such as margarine, to both baking surfaces.
- Due to possible residue from production, the first waffle may not be fit to eat and should be disposed of.
OPERATION

Important: The appliance will remain very hot for an extended time after use!
Danger of burns from escaping steam.
When flipping the appliance, avoid twisting of the power cable. Tip: Flip the appliance to the left once, and the next time to the right.
- Close the appliance and connect it to a power socket (230 V\~, 50/60 Hz). Both indicator lamps light up: The red indicator lamp “ON” is illuminated for as long as the appliance is connected to the power supply. The “Ready” lamp lights up green, indicating that pre-heating has started. Once the appliance has reached the pre-set temperature, this indicator lamp goes out.
- Now, use a ladle to add batter in the centre of the lower baking surface. Then, use a wooden spatula to spread the batter over the bottom baking surface until all indentations are covered with batter. Tip: After mixing the batter in a bowl, pour it into a portioning bottle or a measuring jug with a pouring spout. This will make it easier to portion the batter, which is especially important when making waffles with coloured batter.
- The batter will spread evenly when you close the appliance. Always make sure to add the right amount of batter. If you add too little batter, the top of the appliance will not be seated properly; the top side of the waffles will then not be as brown as the bottom side. Overflowing batter will be collected in the overflow channel, where it will be baked, or it can flow down the side of the appliance. Remove this excess edge from the waffle after baking, or clean the outside of the appliance before using it again.
Use of the appliance without flipping:
-
Close the appliance immediately after adding batter to allow the waffle to be browned evenly on the top and the bottom. Fasten the locking clip on the appliance handle to prevent batter from running out.
-
The waffle starts baking.
- Once the waffle has browned to the desired degree, open the appliance carefully and remove the finished waffle. Refrain from using metal objects as they might scratch the coating of the baking plates. Use a wooden fork or wooden skewers.
- If the waffle is not browned enough, close the appliance again and keep repeating steps 2 through 7 until the waffle has been browned to your satisfaction.
Use of the appliance with flipping
-
Flip the appliance only when making waffles from heavy batter with whole grain flour, gluten-free flour or ingredients such as nuts. Our recipes contain information on this. Flipping is not necessary with light batter!
-
Close the appliance immediately after adding batter to allow the waffle to be browned evenly on the top and the bottom. Fasten the locking clip on the appliance handle to prevent batter from running out while flipping the appliance.
-
Now flip the appliance 180 degrees right away, so the batter can spread evenly into the indentations. Wait 30 seconds, then flip the appliance 180 degrees again, back to the starting position. This ensures even spreading of the batter.
-
The waffle starts baking.
-
Once the waffle has browned to the desired degree, open the appliance carefully and remove the finished waffle. Refrain from using metal objects as they might scratch the coating of the baking plates. Use a wooden fork or wooden skewers.
-
If the waffle is not browned enough, close the appliance again and keep repeating steps 12 through 15 until the waffle has been browned to your satisfaction.
What to watch out for during baking:
-
Notice about the baking lights: When the green indicator lamp goes out, this signals that the temperature has been reached again, but not that the waffle is finished. The baking time of the waffle varies with the batter you use and with your personal taste. Therefore, always check before taking the waffle out if the waffle has been baked to your satisfaction. Our experience shows that the waffle will be done after about 3 minutes.
-
To make more waffles, close the appliance and wait until the indicator lamp "Ready" goes out. Continue making waffles until the batter is used up. It is generally not necessary to grease the baking surfaces again.
-
After baking, unplug the power cable. Only then can you be sure the appliance is safely switched off.
CLEANING AND CARE

Before cleaning the appliance, switch it off by disconnecting the plug from the power socket. Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it.
- Never immerse the appliance into water or an y other liquid.
- It is best to clean the baking surface while it is still warm with a soft brush or with a damp cloth.
- In addition, do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, as these can cause damage.
- Never use pointed or hard objects. They would scratch the antistick coating.
- The appliance can be stored upright to save space.
- The appliance must be completely dry before using it again.
RECIPES
Bubble waffles, also known as egg waffles, were invented more than 70 years ago in Hong Kong and quickly spread throughout Asia. They soon found their way to the United States, where they became part of the street food scene. Since the first bubble waffle shops opened in Berlin in 2017, this speciality has become ever more popular at fairs and in shops.
The waffles can be sprinkled with powdered sugar or rolled up hot and served in glasses, cups or bags and filled with fruit, ice cream, mousse, sweets, nuts, almonds and various sauces. Another option is to fill the waffle with sandwich makings.
The savoury waffles can also be sprinkled with powdered spices, divided into single bubble portions and served as a snack.

Two decorative waffle dessert containers with chocolate sticks, fruit toppings, and chocolate chips (no text or symbols visible)Bubble waffles should be eaten right away, but they can also be warmed in a 120 °C oven on baking paper – which is especially practical if the waffles have been frozen.
Our basic recipe for sweet waffles was handed down by Grandmother Minn of Hong Kong, who is almost 90 years old. Although Minn's recipe has already been around for 70 years, we modified it slightly by using baking powder instead of bicarbonate of soda. For this recipe, you do not have to separate the eggs or beat the egg white until stiff. Nor does the appliance have to be flipped.

Close-up of a plated salad with lettuce, tomato, and onion on a black plate (no text or symbols visible)Before you get started, here is some useful information:
If you use milk instead of mineral water, you should flip the appliance once after filling, wait 30 seconds, then flip it back again as described in "Operation".
If you add ground nuts, freshly chopped herbs or oil seeds to the batter, it is likewise recommended that you flip the appliance as described above. These ingredients can prevent the batter from rising properly.
The addition of 50 g additional cornflour for each 400 g of flour makes the waffles crispier, but they may not be as easy to roll up.
For a savoury variant, you can add your favourite spice to the batter, such as curry, paprika or chilli powder, dried herbs, and salt.
For especially crispy bubble waffles, bake them a little longer

quickly for optimal bubbles.
