How to clean the lens?

To clean the lens, use a blower to remove dust, then gently wipe with lens cleaning paper or a microfiber cloth. Avoid solvents.

What is the minimum focusing distance?

The minimum focusing distance is 0.23 m (23 cm) from the sensor. This allows close-ups with a wide angle.

Can I use thick filters or multiple filters at once?

Using multiple filters or thick filters can cause vignetting (dark corners). It is recommended to use a single standard filter.

What to do if autofocus does not work?

Check the position of the focus ring. If the distance indicator is visible, the lens is in MF (manual) mode. Turn the ring to hide the indicator and return to AF mode.

How to retract the lens?

Turn the zoom ring until the retraction mark (④) is aligned with the « — » line. Make sure the lens is retracted before storing.

What is the L-Fn button for?

The L-Fn (Lens Function) button allows you to stop autofocus when pressed. You can assign other functions depending on the camera body (refer to your camera manual).

Is the lens weather-sealed?

The manual does not mention any weather sealing. For use in wet conditions, it is advisable to take extra precautions.

What is the 35 mm equivalent focal length?

Thanks to the crop factor of Micro Four Thirds (x2), the focal range of 8-25 mm is equivalent to 16-50 mm in 35 mm format.

How to attach the lens hood?

Align the mark on the lens hood with that on the lens and turn it clockwise until it clicks. To remove it, press the unlock button and turn counterclockwise.

Can I use this lens with a flash?

Yes, but the flash light may be blocked by the lens or hood, especially at short focal lengths. It is recommended to use a off-camera flash or remove the hood if necessary.

Focus ring

Slide to change the focus method (Fig. 1) (manual focus clutch mechanism).

- Position in which distance indicator cannot be seen (Fig. 1-A)

The lens will operate in the focus mode set by the camera.

- Position in which distance indicator can be seen (Fig. 1-B)

The lens will operate in the MF mode, regardless of the focus mode set by the camera.

Focus by rotating the lens focus ring.

L-Fn button

The AF stops functioning while the button is pressed.

You may be able to assign other functions depending on your camera. For details, see the instruction manual that came with your camera.

To remove the hood, rotate it while pressing the release.

Notes on Shooting

• You cannot shoot when the lens is retracted. Before you start shooting, turn the zoom ring to extend the lens until the focal distance indicator shows a value between 8 mm and 25 mm.
• To retract the lens, turn the zoom ring until the retraction index (④) is aligned with “—” (Fig. ④).
• If autofocus (AF) is unavailable, check the sliding position of the focus ring.
• Edges of pictures may be cut off if more than one filter is used or if a thick filter is used.

• When using a flash, flash light may be blocked by the lens body, lens hood, etc.

• The focus distance may change when the focusing method is switched from MF to AF/MF and then back to MF. Readjust the focus distance.

• The distance indicator is intended as a guide only.
• Do not touch electric contacts on cameras.

Maintenance

Blow dust off the lens with a commercially available blower. For the lens, wipe gently with a lens cleaning paper.
