How to connect the speaker to the amplifier?

Use the supplied speaker cable. Connect the black strand to the black terminal of the amplifier and speaker, and the unmarked strand to the red terminal. Make sure to observe the left and right markings.

What is the recommended amplifier power?

Loewe recommends an amplifier power between 50 and 150 Watt. Do not exceed 200 Watt to avoid damaging the speaker.

Where to place the speakers for optimal sound?

Place the speakers at a similar distance from the rear and side walls. The listening angle should be oriented towards your preferred position. Avoid heat sources and direct sunlight.

How to clean the aluminum surface?

Use a soft microfiber cloth slightly damp with water and a little dish soap. Never use abrasive products. For the grille, gently use a vacuum cleaner.

What to do in case of condensation after a temperature change?

Let the speaker rest for about one hour at room temperature before turning it on. This prevents damage to internal components.

How to safely transport the speaker?

Hold the speaker by the sides and the base plate. Keep the original packaging for transport. Avoid touching the electrostatic diaphragm with sharp objects.

Can I use a single speaker or do I need both?

The speakers are designed as a pair (left and right) for stereo sound. You can use them individually, but the sound reproduction will be monophonic.

What to do if the fabric protection is damaged?

Do not puncture the protection. Contact an authorized Loewe dealer for repair. The interior contains dangerous high voltages.

What is the standby power consumption?

The standby power consumption is less than 0.5 Watt. For extended absence, unplug the mains plug.

Can I connect a subwoofer with these speakers?

Yes, the system is modular. You can add a Loewe Subwoofer Highline for a surround solution. Make sure the amplifier sends frequencies above 150 Hz to the speakers.

Cardboard box and packaging

You have opted for a durable and technically sophisticated product. In line with national regulations regarding the disposal of packaging materials, we pay a fee to authorised recyclers who collect packaging from dealers. However, we recommend that you keep the original cardboard box and the rest of the packaging materials so that the unit can, if necessary, be transported in the safest possible conditions.

The unit

Important: The EU Directive 2002/96/EG governs the proper re-acceptance, handling and recycling of used electronic appliances.

Old electronic appliances must therefore be disposed of separately. Never throw this set in the normal domestic waste. You can hand in your old set free of charge at identified collection points or at your dealer if you buy a similar new set. Other details about re-acceptance (also for non-EU countries) are available from your local administration.

Cleaning

It is possible that the packaging material may leave marks on the surface of the floor-standing speaker. This does not mean that the surface has been damaged. These marks can be easily removed using water mixed with a little washing-up liquid and applied using a soft cloth (e.g. microfi bre).

Clean the surface of the aluminum Individual Sound loudspeaker system with a damp, soft, clean cloth (without aggressive cleaning agents).

Because of electrostatic charge dust may sellte on the speaker grille.

You can gently suck it with a vacuum cleaner, if necessary.

For your safety and to avoid unnecessary damage to your TV set, please read and observe the following safety instructions:

• Your Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID system is designed exclusively for playing audio signals.

• Always switch off your system (Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID system, TV set and any other connected components) before connecting or disconnecting other equipment or speakers.

• Never operate the Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID system unsupervised. Pull the power adapter out the mains socket during longer periods of absence.

If your have moved your Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID system from a cold to a warm environment, leave it standing for about one hour before switching on because of the possible formation of condensation. Do not switch on until it has reached room temperature. This avoids seriously damaging the components.

Installing the Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID system

Basic information

CAUTION: THE ALUMINIUM SURFACE OF THE Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID IS VERY SENSITIVE TO SCRAWTING AND IMPACT. AVOID ALL CONTACT WITH SHARP OBJECTS. DO NOT PLACE VASES, CANDLES OR OTHER OBJECTS ON TOP OF THE UNIT.

CAUTION: DO NOT CONNECT THE Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID TO AN AMPLIFIER OUTPUT, WHICH EMITS FREQUENCIES ≤ 150Hz IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGING THE LOUDSPEAKER.

• Place the speaker on a fi rm, level base.
• Hold the speaker on the sides and base plate when moving it. If the fabric lining becomes creased when doing so, please smooth this out carefully with your hand.
• Carefully pull the protective fi Im off the trim on the top.
• Please note, that the speakers consist of a right and left unit. A mark is on the product label at the base of each unit.
• Do not place the speakers near to strong sources of heat or in direct sunlight.
• Pull out the power adapter during thunderstorms. Surge voltages caused by lightning strikes can damage the unit.
• Also remove the power adapter in long periods of absence.
• The power adapter set must be easily accessible so that the unit can be disconnected from the power supply at all times.
• Lay the speaker and power cables in such a way that they cannot be damaged. The power cable may not be kinked or laid over sharp edges, not stood on and not exposed to chemicals; the latter also applies to the system as a whole. A power cable with damaged insulation can lead to electric shocks and is a fire risk and must therefore be changed by qualified service personnel before operation of the set continues.

Functional principle

The electrostatic speaker element used is an inverse high-voltage unit with dipole emission and additive treble array, activated by specially adapted high-voltage electronics.

The efficiency is twice as high as conventional electrostatic speakers thanks to the inverse arrangement and activation of the stators and speaker diaphragm. The surface emission of the sound means the volume heard remains in the range from 1 to 6m hearing distance.

The combination of surface emitter and dipole operation comes closest to the natural sound propagation of the original instruments and sounds.

The natural characteristics of the sounds are retained as far as possible with this technology.

A widening of the emission angle so as to enable several listeners to enjoy the sound simultaneously has been achieved by the additional asymmetrical treble array. The left and right speakers are therefore different.

This innovative acoustic concept has been made possible by the use of new materials, surface finishing, production processes and electronic circuits.

This technical refinement is devoted solely to the aim of meeting the most demanding acoustic expectations and reproducing the natural characteristics of the original sound unobtrusively and appealingly in your living room.

Optimum arrangement

Please note, that due to the operating principle of the Loewe Stand Speaker Slim ID, the sound is emitted on the front and rear side.

It is useful if the distance from the walls (to the rear as well as left and right) is about equal, so that the sound distribution into the room may be optimal.

In addition, the sound emission is directional.

It is therefore recommended to arrange the speaker in a way, that they face into your preferred listening position (page 12).

Connection

Connecting the speakers to the audio source

Connect the speaker wires on the bottom of the speaker. One of the two wires of the speaker cable is marked black. Connect this black wire with the black screw on your amplifier or audio output, and the black terminal on the loudspeaker.

Therefore turn the screw counterclockwise a few turns on. Run the wire end into the screw and tighten the screw clockwise.

Connect the unmarked wires with the red terminals.

Note the marking on the left and right speaker during connection.

Connecting the subwoofer to the mains

Insert the plug at the end of the cable into the power jack at the bottom of the speaker.

Secure the cable against accidental unplugging with the strain relief provided. Plug the power adapter of the two speakers in one outlet with 220 - 240 V 50/60 Hz AC.
