Is the Thomson ROC 46 remote control compatible with Thomson DVD players?
Frequently Asked Questions - 14/12/2025
Response Notice-Facile

Yes, the Thomson ROC 46 remote control is fully compatible with Thomson DVD players. This universal remote has been factory pre-programmed to work immediately with most devices in the Thomson group, including DVD players.

To use the ROC 46 remote control with your Thomson DVD player, you first need to select the type of device by pressing the DVD (2) button located on the front of the remote. Once this button is activated, all controls for the DVD player become accessible.

If the remote does not work immediately after selecting DVD mode, you will need to program the specific code for your Thomson DVD player. There are two quick methods:

  • Quick method (Sub-code): Hold the S button until the red light stays on, press DVD, then type 1 (Thomson sub-code) and test by pressing PLAY (B). This method is the fastest for standard Thomson devices.
  • 3-digit code method: Hold the S button until the red light stays on, press DVD, then type 036 (Thomson code for DVD), and test with the PLAY (B) button.

Once programmed, you will be able to control your Thomson DVD player with the following buttons: PLAY (B) for play, STOP for stop, G for rewind, F for fast forward, and the numeric keys 0-9 for navigation. The red light blinks with each button press to confirm that the command is sent.

Important: first install 2 AA batteries (not included) in the remote before programming it. If neither method works after several attempts, consult the complete list of codes provided with the manual to find the exact code for your Thomson DVD player model.

3 - Programming the remote control

Method A - Fast programming with 1-digit subcode

Before you start programming, you must find the subcode of the product to be controlled (Television, VCR, satellite receiver or DVD player).

Refer to the list provided with these instructions, page 1 of the codes.

  1. Turn on the product you want to control.
  2. Hold down the S key (17) until the red indicator lamp (1) remains lit (the indicator light remains on for a few seconds to give you the time to proceed with the following steps. The indicator lamp flashes when this time is almost up, and then goes off).
  3. Press the product key (2) that corresponds to the type of product you want to control: TV: television set, VCR: video recorder, SAT: satellite receiver, DVD: DVD player.
  4. While the indicator is lit, type in the subcode (example: 1 for THOMSON).
  5. Point the remote towards the product and try to turn it off by pressing the key (11).
  6. If the product you want to control turns off, press OK (8) to save the subroutine.
  7. If the product doesn't turn off, press the key (11) repeatedly until the set switches off. Wait approximately one second between key presses to give the red indicator lamp (1) enough time to go off and light up again. This will allow you to see whether the product responds or not.
  8. Immediately after the product to be controlled turns off, press OK (8) to save the subcode.

Note:

If you want to assign another type of product than those mentioned on the remote control, begin by entering the code that corresponds to the product you want to programme (a 3-digit code that you will find in the code booklet - see method B).

Example: if you want to control a satellite receiver with the VCR key, begin by entering a satellite code (any satellite, for example: 603 for a Thomson satellite receiver) then begin the procedure.

Checking the programming:

Your product should be ready to receive remote control commands. Check to see that your remote functions correctly by performing the test described on page 4.
