  • Only use this appliance for the purposes described in the instrucon manual. Cauon! Avoid contact with the hot surfaces and/or steam! Cauon! The grinding system in the coee bean holder is very sharp. Avoid touching it.
  • Do not remove parts from the appliance while making coee. This could result in personal injury and/or damage to the appliance.
  • The appliance must be connected to an alternang current supply, via an earthed wall socket, with a mains voltage that matches the informaon given on the informaon plate of the appliance.
  • Never bend the power cord sharply or allow it to run across hot parts.
  • Fully unwind the cord to prevent it from overheang.
  • Never place the appliance near appliances that give o heat, such as ovens, gas cookers, hotplates, etc. Keep the appliance away from walls or other objects that could catch ame, such as curtains, towels (coon or paper), etc.
  • Always make sure the appliance is placed on an stable, at and heat-resistant surface and is only used indoors.
  • Do not leave the appliance unaended when it is in operaon.

  • The appliance may be used by children of eight years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capacies or a lack of experience and knowledge, provided they use the appliance under supervision or have been instructed about its safe use and understand the hazards involved.

  • If the appliance is being cleaned or is not being used, fully switch o the appliance and remove the plug from the socket.

Before using the coee machine for the rst me, proceed as follows: Carefully unpack your coee machine and remove all packaging material and possible promoonal sckers. Keep the packaging (plasc bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Aer unpacking the appliance, carefully check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Check that the voltage stated on the informaon plate matches the mains voltage used in your region. Place the coee machine on a at, stable and heat-resistant surface. It is best to clean the interior of the new coee machine prior to using it for the rst me. This is done by lling the water reservoir with cold water up to the MAX 10 mark and using the appliance two to three mes without coee. Clean the exterior of the appliance as described in secon CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE.

1. Li the water reservoir from the coee machine, fold open the cover and ll the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2 to 10 cups = 0.25L to 1.25L). Do not ll the reservoir above the MAX 10 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coee machine.

2. Swing open the lter holder. Remove the ring-shaped cover of the lter holder. Place the permanent, washable lter

or a paper coee lter (size 1x4) of which the edges have been folded back in the lter holder. This prevents the lter bag from folding inwards and closing. 3. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the lter holder and fully swing back the lter holder, otherwise the glass jug will not t properly under the lter holder. 4. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the lter holder with drip stop, making sure the spout of the jug is in the centre, facing the coee machine.

5. Add coee beans in the coee bean holder on top of the coee machine. The holder is able to hold maximum 120 grammes

of coee beans, which is sucient for 2 full jugs of coee (20 cups of 6 grammes of coee).

Warning: Make sure that no foreign objects can end up in the coee bean holder. These might damage the appliance.

6. Insert the plug of the coee machine in an earthed wall socket. If the plug is already in the socket, but the coee machine is switched o, briey press the [START/STOP] buon to acvate the operang panel of the coee machine.

7. Select the number of cups of coee for which coee beans should be ground by means of the rotary knob on the operang

panel at the front of the coee machine (2 – 10 cups). Adjust this number to the amount of water poured in the water reservoir.

8. Use the rotary knob on top of the coee machine to select coarse or ne ground coee. Turn the stripe to the large coee

bean for coarse grind, or to the small coee bean for ne grind.

9. Select the required coee strength by pressing the [LIGHT] or [STRONG] buon. This determines how quickly the water

passes through the coee. At a low ow rate, the coee has more me to acquire taste and this has an eect on the strength of the coee. If you wish, press the [STRONG] buon for extra strong coee. The indicator led at the chosen seng [LIGHT] or [STRONG] lights up.

10. Start the coee machine by pressing the [START/STOP] buon. This buon and the ring-shaped indicator led start to ash,

the coee beans are being ground and aer that coee is made. 11. Once the ltering process has been completed, a beep will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led lights up connuously. Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coee. Tilt the glass jug by no more than 45 degrees to avoid spillage. The hot plate under the glass jug is switched on automacally when making coee and is switched o again aer 35 minutes (three beeps will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led goes out).

12. Coee tastes best immediately aer it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can

immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coee into a thermos jug. MAKING COFFEE WITH SHOP BOUGHT EXTRA-FINE GRIND COFFEE When making coee with shop bought extra-ne grind coee, you must add extra-ne grind coee in the lter and press the [GRIND OFF] buon so that the accompanying indicator led lights up before you start the coee machine. In that case, no beans will be ground. 1. Li the water reservoir from the coee machine, fold open the cover and ll the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2 to 10 cups = 0.25L to 1.25L). Do not ll the reservoir above the MAX 10 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coee machine.

For 10 cups you will use 10 level measuring cups of extra-ne grind coee. 4. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the lter holder and fully swing back the lter holder, otherwise the glass jug will not t properly under the lter holder.EN - 16 5. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the lter holder with drip stop, making sure the spout of the jug is in the centre, facing the coee machine. 6. passes through the coee. At a low ow rate, the coee has more me to acquire taste and this has an eect on the strength of the coee. If you wish, press the [STRONG] buon for extra strong coee. The indicator led at the chosen seng [LIGHT] or [STRONG] lights up.

9. Start the coee machine by pressing the [START/STOP] buon. This buon and the ring-shaped indicator led light up and

coee will be made. 10. Once the ltering process has been completed, a beep will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led lights up connuously. Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coee. Tilt the glass jug by no more than 45 degrees to avoid spillage. The hot plate under the glass jug is switched on automacally when making coee and is switched o again aer 35 minutes (three beeps will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led goes out).

INTERRUPTING THE COFFEE MAKING PROCESS

If you want to interrupt the coee making process, in order to pour a few cups for example, you must press the [START/STOP] buon to switch o the coee machine temporarily. The ring-shaped indicator led no longer ashes and the [START/STOP] indicator led lights up connuously. The drip stop prevents the appliance from dripping when you remove the glass jug from the coee machine. You can resume the coee making process by placing the glass jug back under the lter holder and pressing the [START/STOP] buon. Cauon: If you are making coee with shop bought extra-ne grind coee, press the [GRIND OFF] buon aer the interrupon to switch o the grinding funcon. In that case the [GRIND OFF] indicator led lights up. If this led is exnguished, new coee beans will be ground aer the interrupon, which is not what you want.

SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MACHINE

Press the [START/STOP] buon for two seconds to switch o the coee machine. The indicator leds switch o, as well as the hot plate. Aenon: The hot plate cools down slowly aer switching o and could remain hot for some me. Do not forget to remove the paper lter bag and throw it away or to remove the permanent lter and rinse it clean. Swing open the lter holder and remove the lter. Throw away the lter bag. When using the permanent lter, empty it, clean it and use it again. Allow the appliance to cool down properly rst, before removing the lter.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Regularly clean the coee machine. This is not only benecial for the life span of the appliance, it also ensures opmum use of the appliance and, of course, good tasng coee. Cleaning should involve the following:

  • Prior to cleaning, always check that the coee machine is switched o, cooled down and that the plug has been removed from the socket.
  • Remove all separate components from the appliance.
  • Aer each use, clean all separate components in hot water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then rinse thoroughly with hot water and wipe dry.
  • Press the drip stop at the lter outlet upwards a few mes to make sure the lter outlet is dry.EN - 17
  • Regularly clean the outside of the appliance and the hot plate with a slightly damp cloth and then wipe it dry with a dry cloth
  • Place back all components correctly in the appliance.
  • Never use aggressive and/or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning.
  • Never submerge the appliance, cord or plug in water.
  • The grinding system in the coee bean holder is very sharp. Avoid touching it. DE-SCALING Regularly de-scale your coee machine. The de-scaling intervals depend on the hardness of the mains water and the frequency at which the coee machine is being used. Due to scaling, the heang element can become obstructed. This causes overheang, as a result of which the coee machine is switched o automacally as a safety precauon and will no longer funcon. The coee machine will have to be repaired. We recommend de-scaling the appliance aer making coee 60 mes. You can de-scale the coee machine with a special de-scaling agent for coee machines or with kitchen grade vinegar. If you use a special de-scaling agent for coee machines, you must observe the instrucons on the packaging of this agent. When using kitchen grade vinegar, proceed as follows: 1. Place the permanent lter or empty lter bag in the lter holder and make sure all loose parts are placed in the appliance correctly. Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water and cold kitchen grade vinegar up to the MAX 10 mark. The water and kitchen grade vinegar rao should be 4 : 1. 2. Insert the plug into the socket. Press the [GRIND OFF] buon and start the appliance by pressing the [START/STOP] buon.

3. Press the [START/STOP] buon once more to pause the appliance when 2 to 4 cups of water with de-scaling agent have

ended up in the glass jug. 4. Leave the appliance for 15 minutes to allow the de-scaling agent to do its work. Then press the [START/STOP] to allow the remaining water to pass.

5. The de-scaling process has been completed when the water reservoir and coee lter are empty. Empty the glass jug and

remove the permanent lter or lter bag from the lter holder. 6. Aer de-scaling, allow a full reservoir of cold water to ow through the appliance at least 3 mes, to remove all de-scaling liquid and vinegar residues and thus prevent a sour taste in the coee. Cauon! If the coee machine has not been used for some me, e.g. due to vacaon, it is recommended to remove and clean all separate components. Then place the cleaned separate components back on their place and allow the coee machine to make one run with clean water. In this way you will prevent a possible foreign taste.

TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD TASTING COFFEE

1. A clean coee machine is essenal for making delicious coee. Regularly clean and de-scale the coee machine,

as described in CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE and DE-SCALING.

2. Use cold and clean drinking water for making coee.

3. Store coee beans and extra-ne grind coee on a cool and dry place. Close opened packages air-ght and store them

4. The opmum coee taste can be achieved by grinding fresh coee beans just before you start making coee.
