Before using the coee machine for the rst me, proceed as follows: Carefully unpack your coee machine and remove all packaging material and possible promoonal sckers. Keep the packaging (plasc bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Aer unpacking the appliance, carefully check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Place the coee machine on a at, stable and heat-resistant surface. Check that the voltage stated on the informaon plate matches the voltage used in your region. It is best to clean the interior of the new coee machine prior to using it for the rst me. This is done as follows:

- Place the one- or two-cup lter without coee in the lter holder, making sure that the ball at the side of the lter falls precisely into the indentaon in the holder. Then place the holder in the appliance from the INSERT posion and rmly turn
9the handle counter-clockwise to the LOCK posion.
- Place a cup in the centre of the cup grille and make sure the steam controller is switched o (turned to 0).

2. Take the lter holder from the appliance by turning it clockwise.
3. Fill the one- or two-cup lter with the required amount of coee by means of the provided measuring spoon. Firmly
compress the coee using the tamper. Depending on your taste, approximately 1 cup of coee can be made with 1 measuring spoon. When using coee capsules for making coee, you can place the capsules of your taste in the lter provided for that purpose. Aenon! Avoid making contact with the blades in the lter for coee capsules, these are very sharp. 4. Place the lter in the lter holder, making sure that the ball at the side of the lter falls precisely into the indentaon in the holder. Then place the holder in the appliance from the INSERT posion and rmly turn the handle counter-clockwise to the LOCK posion.
5. Place the required number of coee cups on the cup grille. Make sure the cups are properly posioned, so that the coee
ows into the cups. 6. Check that the steam controller is switched o (turned to 0). Insert the plug in an earthed wall socket and switch on the appliance by pressing the on/o buon ( ), aer which the indicator light switches on.
7. Check that the steam buon (
) is not pressed down. When the buon is not pressed down, the water will be heated up to the ideal temperature for making coee. When the buon is pressed down, the water will be heated up to the ideal temperature for creang steam, this temperature is higher than the temperature for making coee.
8. When the coee indicator light lights up connuously, the water is at the correct temperature. Then press down the coee
buon ( ) and coee will start to ow. Press the coee buon once more when the required amount of coee has been made. If you do not do this, the cup will overow! Aenon: When making coee, the coee indicator light may switch o occasionally, this is normal and happens because the appliance is connuously heang in order to maintain the correct temperature.
9. Coee tastes best immediately aer it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving.
- We recommend slightly warming up an espresso cup prior to use, for instance by rst placing it on the hot plate on top of the appliance. A pre-heated cup will prevent the espresso from cooling down too quickly.
- In order to make a good espresso, we recommend pre-heang the appliance. This is done by rst making a cup of espresso without adding coee, as a result of which hot water ows through the appliance.
Warning: Do not leave your coee machine unsupervised when it is working, because of the manual acons you have to
perform. EN - 17EN - 18

It is important that the cup used is not too small, observe a minimum diameter of 7.5 mm and take into account that the drink can double in volume when foaming.
6. Remove the aachment from the steam pipe and place the steam pipe in the drink to be heated. If you also want to foam
your drink, leave the aachment on the steam pipe. Make sure that the end of the steam pipe is always in the drink (approx. 2 cm), and not only in the foam for example, to prevent liquid from splashing upwards. Warning: The steam pipe becomes hot, only grab it by means of the supplied handle.
SWITCHING OFF Aer use, always switch o the appliance by pressing the on/o buon ( ), the indicator light switches o. If you do not switch o the appliance yourself, it will switch o automacally aer approx. 30 minutes to save energy. Aer switching o, remove the plug from the socket. Aer making coee, do not forget to screw the lter holder out of the appliance and remove the coee residue. For this, push the ap on the handle of the holder upwards with your thumb, this makes sure that the lter does not fall out of the holder. Then remove the lter from the holder and rinse it under owing water. Empty the water reservoir to prevent scaling. The de-scaling intervals depend on the hardness of the mains water and the frequency at which the coee machine is being used. We recommend de-scaling the coee machine every 1-2 months. Due to scaling, the heang element can become obstructed. This causes overheang, as a result of which the coee machine is switched o automacally as a safety precauon and will no longer funcon. The coee machine will have to be repaired. You can de-scale the coee machine with a special de-scaling agent for coee machines or with kitchen grade vinegar. If you use a special de-scaling agent for coee machines, you must observe the instrucons on the packaging of this agent. When using kitchen grade vinegar, proceed as follows:
1. Switch o the appliance by pressing the on/o buon (
) and remove any remaining water from the water reservoir.
Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water and cold kitchen grade vinegar up to the MAX mark. The water and kitchen grade vinegar rao should be 4:1. Place the lter holder with lter (without coee) back in the appliance and place a cup on the cup grille.
3. Check that the steam controller is switched o (turned to 0) and that the steam buon (
) is not pressed down. Switch on the appliance by pressing the on/o buon ( ), aer which the indicator light switches on.
4. Press the coee buon when the coee indicator light lights up. Allow the water to ow unl your cup is full. Press the
coee buon once more to stop the coee making process and remove the water from the cup.
5. Repeat step 4 and then wait 5 seconds.
6. Press the steam buon (
) and wait unl the steam indicator light remains on. Make steam for 2 minutes by slowly turning the steam controller. Hold a cup under the steam pipe to collect any water that is released. Turn the steam controller to 0 again and switch o the appliance by pressing the on/o buon (
7. Wait for at least 15 minutes, as a result the scale will be soened and removed.
8. Check that the steam controller is switched o (turned to 0) and that the steam buon (
) is not pressed down. Switch on the appliance by pressing the on/o buon ( ), aer which the indicator light switches on.
9. Press the coee buon and allow the appliance to run unl the water reservoir is empty. The de-scaling process has been
completed. Empty the cup and the removable leak tray to remove any water. 10. Aer de-scaling, allow a full reservoir of cold water to ow through the appliance at least 3 mes, to remove all de-scaling liquid and vinegar residues and thus prevent a sour taste in the coee. Repeat all above-menoned steps, only now do not add kitchen grade vinegar to the water. It is not necessary to wait 15 minutes at point 7. Aenon! If the coee machine has not been used for some me, e.g. due to vacaon, it is recommended to remove and clean all separate components. Then place the cleaned separate components back on their place and allow the coee machine to make one run with clean water. In this way you will prevent a possible foreign taste.
