• Only use this appliance for the purposes described in the instrucon manual. Cauon! Avoid contact with the hot surfaces and/or steam! Cauon! The grinding system in the coee bean holder is very sharp. Avoid touching it.

• Do not remove parts from the appliance while making coee. This could result in personal injury and/or damage to the appliance.

• The appliance must be connected to an alternang current supply, via an earthed wall socket, with a mains voltage that matches the informaon given on the informaon plate of the appliance.

• Never bend the power cord sharply or allow it to run across hot parts.

• Fully unwind the cord to prevent it from overheang.

• Never place the appliance near appliances that give o heat, such as ovens, gas cookers, hotplates, etc. Keep the appliance away from walls or other objects that could catch ame, such as curtains, towels (coon or paper), etc.

• Always make sure the appliance is placed on an stable, at and heat-resistant surface and is only used indoors.

• Do not leave the appliance unaended when it is in operaon.

• Do not use the appliance if the plug, cord or appliance are damaged, or if the appliance no longer funcons properly or if it is damaged in any other way. If this is the case, consult the retailer or our maintenance service.

• If the cord of the appliance is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer, his customer service or a similarly qualied person in order to prevent hazardous situaons.

• Do not pull the cord and/or appliance to remove the plug from the wall socket.

EN - 11• Never touch the appliance with wet or damp hands.

• Keep the appliance out of reach of children. Children do not see the dangers associated with handling electrical appliances. Therefore, never allow children to operate electrical appliances without supervision. Keep the appliance and cord out of reach of children younger than 8 years of age.

• The appliance may be used by children of eight years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capacies or a lack of experience and knowledge, provided they use the appliance under supervision or have been instructed about its safe use and understand the hazards involved.

• Children must not play with the appliance.

• The appliance must not be cleaned or maintained by children, unless they are over 8 years of age and this is done under supervision.

• If the appliance is being cleaned or is not being used, fully switch o the appliance and remove the plug from the socket.

• Always make sure the appliance is switched o and cooled down and that the plug has been removed from the socket, before you remove parts from the appliance.

• If the appliance does not funcon aer it has been switched on, it is possible that the fuse or earth leakage circuit breaker has been acvated in the electrical distribuon box. The group may be overloaded or an earth leakage current may have occurred.

• In case of a breakdown, never make repairs yourself; a tripped safety device in the appliance could indicate a defect that cannot be remedied by removing or replacing this safety device. Only original parts should be used.

• The water reservoir deforms when using hot water, therefore only ll it with cold water.

• Always use the coee machine with a closed lter cover.

• Do not switch on the appliance when the water reservoir is empty.

• Never use a cracked glass jug or a glass jug with a loose or damaged handle.

• Handle the glass part carefully when using and cleaning. EN - 12• Do not place the glass jug containing hot liquid on a hot or cold surface.

• Do not use the glass jug for other purposes than described here.

• Do not place an empty glass jug back on the hot plate.

• Never submerge the appliance, cord or plug in water.

• This appliance is intended for household and similar use, such as: - in sta kitchens, shops, oces and other work environments; - by guests in hotels, motels and other residenal environments; - in Bed&Breakfast type environments; - farms.

• If the appliance is not used as intended, no compensaon can be claimed in case of defects or accidents and the warranty will be invalidated.

Before using the coee machine for the rst me, proceed as follows: Carefully unpack your coee machine and remove all packaging material and possible promoonal sckers. Keep the packaging (plasc bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Aer unpacking the appliance, carefully check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Check that the voltage stated on the informaon plate matches the mains voltage used in your region. Place the coee machine on a at, stable and heat-resistant surface. It is best to clean the interior of the new coee machine prior to using it for the rst me. This is done by lling the water reservoir with cold water up to the 6 mark and using the appliance two to three mes without coee. Clean the exterior of the appliance as described in secon CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE.

1. Li the water reservoir from the coee machine, fold open the cover and ll the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2, 4 or 6 cups). Do not ll the reservoir above the 6 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coee machine.

2. Swing open the lter holder. Remove the ring-shaped cover of the lter holder. Place the permanent, washable lter or a

paper coee lter (size 1x2) of which the edges have been folded back in the lter holder. This prevents the lter bag from folding inwards and closing.

3. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the lter holder and swing the lter holder fully closed again.

4. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the lter holder with drip stop.

5. Put the coee beans in the coee bean holder on top of the coee machine and place the cover back on the coee bean

holder. We recommend not adding too many coee beans, to prevent the unused beans from becoming damp in the coee bean holder. The holder is able to contain a maximum of 90 grams of coee beans. Warning: Only ll the coee bean holder with coee beans and make sure that no foreign objects end up in the holder. Also do not use any unroasted or damp coee beans. These might damage the appliance.

6. Insert the plug of the coee machine in an earthed wall socket. The indicator light at buons

7. Select the number of cups of coee for which coee beans should be ground. Press buon

for 4 cups of coee or

for 6 cups of coee. Adjust this number to the amount of water poured in the water reservoir. The indicator light at the pressed buon lights up. If you do not press a buon, the appliance selects the default seng of 6 cups of coee.

8. Use the rotary knob on top of the coee machine to select coarse or ne ground coee. Turn the buon to the large coee

bean for coarse grind, or to the small coee bean for ne grind.

9. Select the required coee strength by pressing the buon . When the indicator light at the buon lights up, the

buon is pressed for extra strong coee. If the indicator light does not light up, the coee will be less strong.

10. Start the coee machine by pressing the buon

OFF . Aer approximately 3 seconds, the appliance starts grinding the coee beans. Once the grinding process has been completed, the appliance will start making coee aer about 3 seconds.

11. When the ltering process has been completed, 3 beeps will sound. Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the

coee. Aer making coee, the hot plate will keep the coee warm for 35 minutes, aer which it switches o automacally. 3 beeps will sound and the indicator light at buon

OFF switches o. If you want to switch o the appliance completely, you must remove the plug from the socket.

12. Coee tastes best immediately aer it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can

immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coee into a thermos jug. MAKING COFFEE WITH SHOP BOUGHT EXTRA-FINE GRIND COFFEE 1. Li the water reservoir from the coee machine, fold open the cover and ll the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2, 4 or 6 cups). Do not ll the reservoir above the 6 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coee machine.

2. Swing open the lter holder. Remove the ring-shaped cover of the lter holder. Place the permanent, washable lter or a

paper coee lter (size 1x2) of which the edges have been folded back in the lter holder. This prevents the lter bag from folding inwards and closing.

3. Scoop the required amount of coee (extra-ne grind) into the lter bag or permanent lter and gently shake the lter

to even out the coee. According to your taste, use 1 level measuring spoon per cup of coee. This is approximately 5-7 grammes of coee per cup. For 6 cups you will use 6 level measuring cups of extra-ne grind coee.

4. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the lter holder and swing the lter holder fully closed again.

5. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the lter holder with drip stop.

SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MACHINE

When the appliance is switched on and is not used for a period of 1 minute, the indicator lights will switch o. Press a random buon on the control panel to acvate the appliance again. Aenon! If you want to switch o the appliance completely, you must remove the plug from the socket. The hot plate cools down slowly aer switching o and could remain hot for some me. Do not forget to remove the paper lter bag and throw it away or to remove the permanent lter and rinse it clean. Swing open the lter holder and remove the lter. Throw away the lter bag. When using the permanent lter, empty it, clean it and use it again. Allow the appliance to cool down properly rst, before removing the lter. Aenon: This coee machine comes with a drip stop. This means that the ow of coee is stopped immediately when the glass jug is removed. The lter holder is closed o, as a result of which the ow of coee is stopped. Be sure to place back the glass jug as quickly as possible to prevent the lter from overowing. When making coee, do not touch the cover to prevent burns due to hot steam.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Regularly clean the coee machine. This is not only benecial for the life span of the appliance, it also ensures opmum use of the appliance and, of course, good tasng coee. Cleaning should involve the following:

• Prior to cleaning, always check that the coee machine is switched o, cooled down and that the plug has been removed from the socket.

• Remove all separate components from the appliance.

• Aer each use, clean all separate components in hot water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then rinse thoroughly with hot water and wipe dry.

• Regularly clean the outside of the appliance and the hot plate with a slightly damp cloth and then wipe it dry with a dry cloth

• Place back all components correctly in the appliance.

• Never use aggressive and/or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning.

• Never submerge the appliance, cord or plug in water.

• The grinding system in the coee bean holder is very sharp. Avoid touching it. DE-SCALING Regularly de-scale your coee machine. The de-scaling intervals depend on the hardness of the mains water and the frequency at which the coee machine is being used. Due to scaling, the heang element can become obstructed. This causes overheang, as a result of which the coee machine is switched o automacally as a safety precauon and will no longer funcon. The coee machine will have to be repaired. We recommend de-scaling the appliance aer making coee 60 mes. You can de-scale the coee machine with a special de- scaling agent for coee machines or with kitchen grade vinegar. If you use a special de-scaling agent for coee machines, you must observe the instrucons on the packaging of this agent.EN - 17 When using kitchen grade vinegar, proceed as follows: 1. Place the permanent lter or empty lter bag in the lter holder and make sure all loose parts are placed in the appliance correctly. Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water and cold kitchen grade vinegar up to the 6 mark. The water and kitchen grade vinegar rao should be 4 : 1.

3. The de-scaling process has been completed when the water reservoir and coee lter are empty. Empty the glass jug and

remove the permanent lter or lter bag from the lter holder. 4. Aer de-scaling, allow a full reservoir of cold water to ow through the appliance at least 3 mes, to remove all de-scaling liquid and vinegar residues and thus prevent a sour taste in the coee. Aenon! If the coee machine has not been used for some me, e.g. due to vacaon, it is recommended to remove and clean all separate components. Then place the cleaned separate components back on their place and allow the coee machine to make one run with clean water. In this way you will prevent a possible foreign taste.

TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD TASTING COFFEE

1. A clean coee machine is essenal for making delicious coee. Regularly clean and de-scale the coee machine,

as described in CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE and DE-SCALING.

2. Use cold and clean drinking water for making coee.

3. Store coee beans and extra-ne grind coee on a cool and dry place. Close opened packages air-ght and store them

4. The opmum coee taste can be achieved by grinding fresh coee beans just before you start making coee.
