Kettle with temperature setting KG 2100-x Safety Incorrect handling of the kettle can cause severe burns and scalds. This device can be used by children 8 years of age and older, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lacking experience and/or knowledge, if they are being supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the dangers that may arise. Keep the device and its power cord away from children younger than 8 years. Cleaning and maintenance by the user must not be carried out by children unless they are 8 years of age or older and are being supervised. Children must not play with the device. Keep wrapping and packaging material away from children. There is a choking hazard. The water tank, base and mains power cord must not be immersed in water or other liquids. Risk of electric shock! Therefore, do not use the kettle near sources of moisture such as a sink. No water may get into the electrical parts in the lower area and the base. Place the kettle and base so that no liquids can spill onto the device connector. If the mains power cord of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or customer service in order to avoid hazards. The device must not be connected to a timer, a dimming switch or any other remote control system.

WARNING: Do not open the lid during boiling and pouring. Danger of scalding

from hot steam! Observe the MIN and MAX filling quantity markings: If the water level is too low (below MIN), the kettle may overheat. If too much water is filled in (above MAX), hot water may splash out of the tank. Burns risk! Only operate the kettle with the supplied base. Otherwise there is a risk of short circuit and electric shock! The inside of the kettle is hot for a long time even after the kettle is switched off. There is a risk of burns. If the surface becomes soiled, e.g. by food, switch off the kettle and let it cool down completely. Clean the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If necessary, use a mild and suitable cleaning agent.Safety

Only connect the device to a correctly installed and functioning mains outlet with a voltage that corresponds to the “Technical data”. Ensure that the mains outlet is readily accessible so that you can quickly unplug the power cord, if necessary. Always switch off the kettle before adding water. Do not operate the kettle unattended. Do not use the device: − if the kettle or the base are damaged, − if the mains power cord or the mains plug are damaged, − if the kettle has fallen down. Unwind the mains power cord completely before each use. When doing so, make sure that the mains power cord is not damaged by sharp edges or hot objects. Pull the mains plug out of the socket: − when you are not using the kettle, − after each use, − before cleaning or putting away the machine, − if there appears to be a malfunction during operation, − during thunderstorms. Always pull on the mains plug, not on the mains power cord. Do not make any changes to the device or the mains power cord. Have repairs carried out only by a specialist workshop as improperly repaired devices endanger the user. Please also note the enclosed warranty conditions. Do not use an extension cable. Make sure that there is sufficient distance to strong heat sources such as hotplates, heating pipes etc. The mains power cord must lie securely in the recess of the base so that the base stands securely. Position the device so that the hot water vapour that escapes during use can do so easily. Do not place the kettle under a wall cupboard or shelf and turn the spout away from sensitive surfaces or wallpaper. Also keep a distance from easily combustible materials such as curtains or tablecloths. There are feet on the underside of the base. Since furniture or storage surfaces are made of a wide variety of materials and are treated with a wide variety of care products, it cannot be completely ruled out that some of these substances contain components that damage and soften the feet of the device. If necessary, place a non-slip pad under the base. Do not clean the kettle with hard, scratching or abrasive cleaning agents, steel wool or similar. Intended use This kettle is designed exclusively for heating and boiling water. Carbonated water, milk and other liquids must not be filled into the kettle and heated - the device would be damaged. The kettle is intended for domestic use only and is not suitable for the following areas: kitchens for staff in shops, offices and other commercial areas, farms, for use by customers in hotels, motels and other similar residential environments, bed and breakfasts. 1. Remove the kettle from the packaging and carefully remove all packaging material.

2. Check the kettle and base for possible transport damage.

3. Unwind the mains power cord from the cable winder.

4. Guide the mains power cord through the recess. The base must not wobble.

5. Place the base on a flat and stable surface. This area should be easy to clean,

brightly lit and easily accessible.

6. Place the water tank on the base.

7. Insert the mains plug into a socket with protective contacts.

1. Clean up the water tank by filling it with water up to the MAX mark and allowing

the water to boil (see next section).

2. Discard the water for hygienic reasons.

3. Repeat the procedure twice.

Use DANGER of scalding/burning − The kettle becomes hot during use. Burns risk! Only grab it by the handle. − Hot steam escapes during heating and boiling. There is a danger of scalding if touched! − Close the lid before switching on the device. Otherwise the hot water could boil over. − Do not open the lid during boiling or when pouring. 1. Remove the water tank from the base

2. Press the release button to open the lid.

3. Fill with the desired amount of fresh,

cold water. Observe the level indicator inside thewater tank: The water level must be between MINand MAX.

4. Close the lid again.

Make sure that the lid clicks audibly intoplace.

5. Place the water tank on the base.

As soon as the tank is on the base, abeep sounds.

8. Select the desired temperature range by repeatedly pressing the SET button.

Abeep sounds each time the button is pressed. The symbol of the selected function flashes, e.g. at 40 °C. The water is then heated to the appropriate temperature. The current water temperature is shown in the upper part of the display. As soon as the set temperature is reached, a beep sounds and the corresponding symbol stops flashing.

9. Remove the water tank from the base and pour out the water slowly. Do not open

Kettle with temperature setting KG 2100-x We recommend that you do not boil stale water again. Pour it out or use it when cooled down to water flowers. Pay attention to the following: If you do not remove the water tank from the base, the display remains illuminated for approx. 10 minutes, after which the device switches off automatically. The water temperature (which will drop again) is shown on the display. You can switch off the device at any time by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds. If you press the button only briefly during the heating process (also applies to the KEEP WARM function, see next section): − Press once: Kettle goes into standby mode. − Press briefly again: Kettle is switched off. If you remove the kettle from the base during the heating process and then place it back on the base, the heating process stops but the settings made remain saved. Pressing resumes the heating process. Heating water to a specific temperature and keeping warm (KEEP WARM) The keep warm function is not available for 100 °C.

1. Proceed as described in the section “Heating water to a specific temperature”

2. Press and hold SET for approx. 2 seconds.

“KEEP WARM” appears on the display.

3. Select the desired temperature range by repeatedly pressing the SET button.

4. Pour out the water slowly. Do not open the lid while pouring.

The water is kept warm for about 2 hours after the kettle has been reset. The device then switches off automatically.Boil-dry protection

Kettle with temperature setting KG 2100-x English Boil-dry protection A boil-dry protection feature protects the device from damage. The protection switches on automatically when there is no more liquid in the kettle. The boil-dry protection is purely a safety feature. It does not serve to increase the ease of use. If the boil-dry protection has been triggered:

1. Unplug the power cord from the mains outlet.

2. Let the kettle cool down.

You can then fill the kettle with water again and use it as usual. Cleaning and descaling DANGER of scalding/burning − Always allow the kettle to cool down completely before cleaning. − Keep yourself and other persons away from escaping water vapour! − Close the lid before switching on the kettle. − Never open the lid when pouring out hot water. − Note that there is still residual heat inside the kettle after use. NOTE on material damage − Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, brushes with metal or nylon bristles, or sharp or metallic cleaning objects such as knives, hard spatulas and the like. They can damage the surfaces. − Never put the water tank or the base in the dishwasher. You would destroy the kettle by doing so. − Never immerse the kettle in water for cleaning and do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning. The kettle may otherwise be damaged. Cleaning

1. Unplug the kettle from the mains and let it cool down.

2. Wipe the outside of the housing with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

3. Open the lid of the water tank.

4. Clean the holes of the spout with a dishwashing brush or similar.

5. Rinse the water tank with a little water.

Descaling You should descale the kettle regularly, as a heavily calcified kettle requires more electricity. How often the device needs to be descaled depends on the hardness of the water used and the frequency of use.Fault/Remedy

Kettle with temperature setting KG 2100-x In normal use, you should descale the kettle every 3 months for soft water and once per month for hard water. You should descale the device at the latest when the boiling process takes a long time or when heavy limescale deposits have formed inside the water tank. You can obtain information about the water hardness in your area of residence from the responsible waterworks. To descale, you can use commercially available descaler (follow the manufacturer’s instructions) or mix household vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio.

1. Pour the descaling liquid into the kettle and boil it.

2. Then let the liquid soak in for about half an hour.

3. Only in case of more severe calcification: Boil the mixture a second time.

4. Boil fresh tap water and discard it as well.

You can then use your kettle as usual. Fault/Remedy Fault Possible cause No function. Mains plug in the socket? Kettle is correctly positioned on the base? Has the boil-dry protection tripped? (seesection “Boil-dry protection”). Have you selected a temperature that is lower than the currently displayed water temperature? Heating up is not possible in this case. No fault. Boiling process takes a very long time. The kettle must be descaled (seesection“Descaling”) When pouring, only a little water comes out of the spout opening. Check whether the spout opening is dirty and clean it if necessary. Stains form on the bottom inside the kettle. These are limescale deposits. These are harmless, but must be removed regularly (see section “Cleaning and descaling”).Technical data
