Frequently Asked Questions - VS125682 Emerio

What bags to use with the appliance?
Use vacuum bags or textured rolls with a thickness of 0.1 to 0.2 mm and a maximum width of 300 mm. Bags that are too thin may allow air to pass through.
How to make a bag from a roll?
Cut the roll to the desired size (at least 6 cm longer than the food). Place one end in the vacuum chamber, lock the lid, then press Seal. Once the indicator goes off, the bag is sealed.
What to do if the vacuum pump works but air is not removed?
Check that the bag is properly sealed at one end (if using a roll), that the open end is at the bottom of the suction channel, and that there are no folds or debris on the seals. Ensure the lid is locked on both sides.
Why does the bag not seal properly?
This may be due to excess liquid, food debris on the sealing area, or a fold in the bag. Freeze moist foods before vacuum sealing and clean the sealing area.
What to do if the sealing gasket is loose or torn?
Remove the gasket, clean it, and reinsert it. If damaged, contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
Why does air re-enter the bag after vacuum sealing?
Check the seal: a fold, moisture, or food residues can compromise the seal. Sharp foods may have punctured the bag. Natural fermentation of some foods can also cause re-inflation.
The bag melts during sealing, what to do?
The sealing strip is too hot. Wait about 60 seconds between each cycle to allow the appliance to cool. Do not exceed 15 cycles without a break.
The appliance does not turn on, no indicator lights
Check that the appliance is plugged into a working outlet. If the appliance has been stored in a humid environment, moisture may damage the circuit; move it to a dry place and try again. Contact the manufacturer if the problem persists.
Can you vacuum seal liquid foods?
No, the appliance is not designed for liquid foods. They can damage the pump or prevent proper sealing. Freeze moist foods first.
How to clean the appliance?
Unplug it and let it cool. Wipe the exterior with a soft damp cloth. Clean the vacuum chamber after each use with a cloth or paper. Leave the lid unlocked to preserve the foam gasket.

VACUUM PACKAGING AND FOOD SAFETY

1) The vacuum packaging process extends the life of foods by removing most of the air from the sealed container, thereby reducing oxidation, which affects nutritional value, flavor and overall quality. Removing air can also inhibit growth of microorganisms, which can cause problems under certain conditions.
2) To preserve foods safely, it is critical that you maintain low temperatures. You can significantly reduce the growth of microorganisms at temperatures of 4^ (40^) or below. Freezing at -17^ (0^) does not

kill microorganisms, but stops them from growing. For long-term storage, always freeze perishable foods that have been vacuum packaged, and keep refrigerated after thawing.

3) It is important to note that vacuum packaging is NOT a substitute for canning and it cannot reverse the deterioration of foods. It can only slow down the changes in quality. It is difficult to predict how long foods will retain their top-quality flavor, appearance or texture because it depends on age and condition of the food on the day it was vacuumed packaged.
4) IMPORTANT: Vacuum packaging is NOT a substitute for refrigeration or freezing. Any perishable foods that require refrigeration must still be refrigerated or frozen after vacuum packaging.
5) The Vacuum Sealer also protects non-food items from oxidation, corrosion and moisture. Simply follow the directions to vacuum package items using vacuum bags, canisters and accessories.

Tips

  • Although the plastic material of the bags is quite strong, it can be punctured by sharp items. So if you are sealing foods with sharp edges (pasta, dried fruits, bones, etc.), use some common plastic wrap before vacuum sealing. This will protect the bag from being punctured.
  • If the vacuum pump continues to run. Press the "cancel" button to make it stop. Check if the condition of the sealed seal is good. Then place the open end of the bag smoothly and correctly, and lock the cover. Start the appliance again.
  • Clean and straighten the open end of the bag before sealing. Foreign objects or wrinkles may cause difficulty to seal tightly.
  • To vacuum seal the foods not frozen, two extra inches are required for bag length to allow for expansion while freezing.
  • To vacuum package silver, wrap fork tines in soft cushioning material, such as a paper towel, to avoid puncturing bag.
  • Due to the risk of anaerobic bacteria, fresh mushrooms, onions, garlic and soft cheese should never be vacuum packaged.
  • All vegetables (including broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, turnips) naturally emits gases and swells the vacuumed bag after a few days, it is recommended to pre-freeze them and keep them refrigerated after vacuum packaging.
  • Do not vacuum package powder or liquid food.

Storage

For vacuum-packed food (except dehydrated food), frozen storage is advised.

For packaged vegetables, please eat in 2 weeks, to avoid rot.

Microwave

If you want to put the vacuum-packed food in a microwave, prick a hole in the plastic bag first. SUITABLE FOR THAWING IN THE MICROWAVE TO MAX. 70^ C.

CLEANING

  1. Unplug the appliance. Always let the appliance cool off completely before you clean it.
  2. Wipe the appliance with a soft damp cloth.
  3. During the vacuum sealing process, small amount of liquids, crumbs or food particles can be inadvertently pulled into the vacuum channel. Empty the vacuum chamber after each use with a piece of cloth or paper.

  4. Unlock the lid after use. That will prevent pressure from being applied to the foam gasket.

PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Vacuum Pump is running, but bag is not evacuating1.If making a bag from a roll, make sure one end of bag is sealed. 2 Adjust the bag and try again. Make sure the open end of the bag is down inside the Vacuum Channel. 3.Leave 5-7cm space between open end of bag and bag contents. 4.Checked for wrinkles in bag along Sealing Strip. 5.Open unit and make sure Gaskets are inserted properly and there are no foreign objects, dirt or debris on the Upper or Lower Gasket. 6.Gaskets may be compressed. Unlock the lid and allow 10 to 20 minutes for Gaskets to expand. 7.Make sure the lid is locked properly. If the two sides of the lid are not locked entirely, there will be a leak between the Gaskets.
Bag is not sealing properly1.Too much liquid in bag, freeze before vacuuming. 2.Checked for food debris around seal area. If present, take out the Gasket, clean it and reinsert Gasket into Vacuum Channel. 3.Bag has wrinkles.
Gasket is loose or has a tear1.Take out the Gasket, clean it and reinsert the Gasket. 2.Contact an authorized party or the manufacturer for replacement.
No lights on the Control Panel1.Make sure unit is plugged in and wall outlet is functional. 2.Make sure appliance is turned on. 3.If appliance is not in use for a long time and being kept in a humid environment, the humidity may cause crash/damage to the circuit board. Move appliance to dry and restart. 4.Contact an authorized party or the manufacturer for replacement.
Air was removed from the bag, but now air has re-entered1.Examine the seal. A wrinkle along the seal may cause air to re-enter the bag. 2.Sometimes moisture or food material along seal prevents bag from sealing properly. Cut bag open, wipe top inside of bag and reseal. 3.Sharp food items may have punctured bag. 4.Fermentation or the release of natural gases from inside the foods may have occurred. When this happens, food may have begun to spoil and should be discarded.
Bag meltsSealing strip may have become too hot. Always wait about 60 seconds for appliance to cool down before you vacuum package another item.
