Ensure that the power tool is switched o before connect- ing it to the power supply and/or the power pack, picking it up or carrying it. If you hold your nger to the switch when carrying the power tool or connect the device to the power supply when it is switched on, this can lead to accidents. d) Remove any adjustment tools or spanners be- fore switching the power tool on. A tool or span- ner located in a turning device component may lead to injuries. e) Adopt a normal posture. Ensure you are stand- ing securely and that you maintain your bal- ance at all times. Use and handling of the battery tool a) Only charge the batteries using chargers that are recommended by the manufacturer. There is a risk of re if a charger that is suitable for a specic type of battery is used with other batteries. b) Only use the power packs intended for this purpose in power tools. Use of other power packs can result in injuries and res. c) Keep the unused power pack away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that could cause short circuiting of the contacts. A short-circuit between the pow- er pack contacts could result in burns or re. d) Fluid can leak from the battery if used improp- erly. Avoid contact with this liquid. Rinse o with water in the case of accidental contact. If the liquid comes into contact with the eyes, also seek medical assistance. Leaking battery liquid may lead to skin irritation and burns. Service a) All repairs to the power tool must be carried out by qualied specialist technicians and with original spare parts only. This ensures that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Safety information for hedge trimmers ¾ Keep all body parts away from the cutting blade. Do not attempt to remove grass cut- tings or hold material to be cut with the blade running. Only remove jammed grass cuttings with the device switched o. One moment of inattentiveness when using the hedge trimmer can result in serious injuries. ¾ Hold the hedge trimmer at the handle with the blade at a standstill. Always put on the protective cover when transporting the hedge trimmer or putting it away for storage. Careful handling of the device reduces the risk of injury from the blade. ¾ Only hold the power tool by the insulated han- dles, because the cutting blade can come into contact with hidden power cables or even its own power cable. Cutting blade contact with a live cable may pass voltage onto metallic device components and lead to electric shock. Risk of tripping! ¾ Switch the motor o when carrying the device to or from separate working positions. ¾ Never bypass or manipulate switching mech- anisms installed on the device (e.g. by taping the switch to the handle). ¾ When working always ensure you are stand- ing safely, especially when using steps or a ladder. ¾ Always be aware of your environment and possible hazards which you may not be able to hear because of the noise of the device. Information about vibrations: ¾ Vibrations can cause nerve damage and impair the blood circulation in the hands and arms. ¾ When working in the cold, wear warm clothing and keep your hands warm and dry. ¾ Take breaks. ¾ If you notice that the skin of your ngers or hands goes numb, tingles, hurts or goes white, stop working with the machine and, if necessary, consult a doctor. ¾ The specied vibration emission values:

Safety information Intended use The hedge trimmer is intended solely for the cutting of hedges and bushes with the following maximum twig/branch thicknesses: - 22 mm for devices with a 50 cm cutting blade - 24 mm for devices with a 60 cm cutting blade Any other use is classed as an unintended use. Shield [6] The shield protects your hands ensuring easy cut- ting with a good view of the cutting area. Impact protection [13] The projecting guide rail protects you against unpleasant impacts, e.g. recoil moments, if you hit a solid object (wall, oor, etc.). Two-handed safety switch [2], [4] Switching on and operation of the hedge trimmer requires both hands. One hand operates the on/o switch on the handle, the other hand operates the on/o switch on the bow-shaped handle. If one or other of the switches is released, the cutting blade automatically comes to a standstill. Using for the rst time Supplementary documentation Make sure the supplied instruction man- uals of the charger and the power pack are available. Please read and under- stand them before using the device. Power pack charging WARNING! Risk of injuries or material damage ¾ Charge the power pack using the char- ger approved by the manufacturer. WARNING! Risk of injuries due to the cutting tool. ¾ Switch o the device and wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill before making adjustments to the device. The battery-operated hedge trimmer can be set to ve dierent operating angles. You can turn the handle to the left or right by 45° or 90°. This allows you to easily reach problematic and dicult-to-access positions in the garden. Î Pull the locking lever

Cutting the top of the hedge
- To cut the hedge top, perform swinging/sweeping movements to the left and right using the hedge trimmer. - For optimum cutting results, maintain the cutting blade in a slightly inclined position in the direction of the cutting movement. Cutting the hedge sides
- If the hedge sides are to be cut, start at the bottom part of the hedge and cut upwards. - For optimum cutting results, maintain the cutting blade in a slightly inclined position in the direction of the cutting movement. - Cut the sides of the hedge so that the hedge nar- rows towards the top. This ensures uniform hedge growth. Cutting tips - Please remember the breeding season of birds! - The ideal shape for hedge cutting is trapezoidal, which allows enough light and air to reach all parts of the hedge
- To promote thick growth in young hedges new shoots should only be shortened by half. - If the hedge has already reached your desired height, now shoots can be completely removed. - To obtain a uniform hedge height, you can tension a guide line at the desired height and then cut along this line. Where possible, use an environmental- ly-friendly lubricant. Î Do not oil the hedge trimmer during use. Î To oil the hedge trimmer, place it on its side and apply a thin oil lm to the cutting blade. Î During extended periods of hedge cutting, inter- rupt your work frequently to oil the hedge trimmer cutting blade. Attention! Do not clean the device with water.Transport and storage

Risk of injuries due to the cutting tool. ¾ Before transport or storage, switch o the device and wait until the cutting tool comes to a standstill. ¾ Remove the power pack before transport or storage. Storage Î Thoroughly clean your device at the end of each season. Î Always store the device in a dry and safe location that is inaccessible to children. Î Store the power pack and hedge trimmer sepa- rately. Î Store the power pack in a cool and dry location. Recommended storage temperature 0 - 23°C. Î Keep the hedge trimmer and especially its plastic components away from brake uids, petrol, mineral oil containing products, penetrating oils etc. They contain chemical substances that can damage, attack or destroy the plastic components of the hedge trimmer. Î Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain substances that may have a highly corrosive eect on the metal parts of the hedge trimmer. Therefore do not store your hedge trimmer in the vicinity of these substances. Troubleshooting WARNING! Risk of injuries or material damage ¾ In case of doubt always take your mower to a specialist workshop. ¾ Before any inspection or any work on the device, switch o the motor and remove the power pack.
