OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before first use

  • Clean the appliance using dry cotton cloth prior to first use. Wash the plates and the drip tray thoroughly. We do not recommend washing in the dishwasher! The salts are very aggressive and can cause damage in the long term. Do not use abrasive powders or abrasive cleaners.
  • Carefully dry the plates before reinstalling them into the appliance. Make sure that the plates are properly secured in the appliance.
  • Do not forget to return the drip tray in its place.
  • Unwind the power cable fully.

Note: When using the first time, the appliance may emit certain odor. This is normal and it disappears gradually during use. For this reason we recommend that you "burn" the grill for at least 30 minutes without foods before first use.

Food preparation

Warning:

  • Do not use the appliance for defrosting or cooking of frozen foods. All foods must be completely defrosted before processing by this appliance.
  • The plates and the metal surfaces of the appliance become very hot during operation. Use oven mitts to prevent burns and touch only the handle or other designated parts.
  • Do not use metal utensils, which could scratch and damage the non-stick surface of the plates.

Notes:

You can use the grill in 3 positions. 1) Baking 2) Grilling 3) BBQ.
- It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to reach working temperature, for times of cooking see the table at the beginning of the manual.
- These guidelines are only for orientation, the time of cooking depends on the type and thickness of the foods.
- The foods should be thoroughly cooked before eating. If you are not sure, better lengthen the cooking time somewhat.

ECG KG 400 Superior - Notes: - 1

The position for baking and grilling

  • Baking: You can decide if the upper plate will bake the food directly (contact grill) or if you leave a space between the food and the upper plate and will just heat the food from the top - position (1).
Grilling: You can heat just the bottom plate and leave the upper plate fixed in 90^ position - position (2).

  • Make sure that the drip tray is properly inserted in the appliance.

  • Make sure that the grilling plates are properly set and secured.
  • Place the grill on a level and dry surface and plug the power cable in the electrical outlet. The grill switches

on and the POWER indicator lights up.

  1. Set the required temperature of the plates using the thermostat control and let the grill heat up. The heating of the plates is indicated by green light of the appropriate indicator. Once the plate is heated to the set temperature, the indicator goes off.

5. Opening the grill:

  • Check if the grill is heated up to the required temperature (indicators DOWN and UPare off).
  • Use the handle to open the lid with the upper plate (rider to adjust the height of the grill on the right side of the upper plate must be in the "OPEN" position).

ECG KG 400 Superior - Opening the grill: - 1

  • Lightly apply butter, shortening or oil on the plates.
  • Place food on the bottom grilling plate.

  • Using the handle, close the upper plate.

  • There is a rider on the right side of the upper plate ⑧ , to help fix the upper plate in five different heights from the bottom plate. If you want to set the required height, raise the upper plate using the handle and move the rider in the position of the required height in the same time. Then lower the upper plate slowly until it reaches the stop ⑥

  • When the food is cooked, remove it from the plates using wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils.

Using open grill

This position provides a bigger grilling surface and allows separate cooking of foods, e.g. when grilling meat and vegetables in the same time.

  1. Make sure that the drip tray is properly inserted in the appliance.
  2. Make sure that the grilling plates are properly set and secured.
  3. Fully opened grill in 180^ position:

  4. Hold the handle and in the same time press the lock for opening of the grill ⑰

  4. Place the food on the grilling plates.
  5. When the food is cooked, remove it from the plates using wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils.
