Do not use the tool where there is a risk of causing fi re or explosion, e.g. in the presence of fl ammable liquids and gases. 3 Keep children away Do not allow children, visitors or animals to come near the work area or to touch the tool or the mains cable. 4 Dress properly Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, as these can be caught in moving parts or caught by the airfl ow. Wear protective hair covering to keep long hair out of the way. When working outdoors, preferably wear suitable gloves and non-slip footwear. 5 Personal protection Always use safety glasses. Use a face or dust mask whenever the operations may produce dust or fl ying particles. If these particles might be considerably hot, also wear a heat-resistant apron. Wear ear protection at all times. Wear a safety helmet at all times. 6 Guard against electric shock Prevent body contact with earthed surfaces (e.g. pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators). Never attempt any repairs yourself. 11 Remove the battery pack Remove the battery pack when not in use, before changing any parts of the tools, accessories or attachments and before servicing. 12 Store idle tools When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry place and locked up securely, out of reach of children. 13 Maintain tools with care Keep the tools in good condition and clean for better and safer performance. Follow the instructions for maintenance and changing accessories. Keep all handles and switches dry, clean and free from oil and grease. 14 Repairs This tool is in accordance with the relevant safety regulations. INTENDED USE The DC509/DC519 heavy-duty fl ashlights are designed to operate on 36 V or 28V battery packs and can be used as a handheld model or as a standing model. DO NOT use under wet conditions or in presence of fl ammable liquids or gases.16 ENGLISH DO NOT let children come into contact with the tool. ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT

Prior to assembly and adjustment, always remove the battery pack.

Always switch off the tool before inserting or removing the battery pack.

Before using the tool, make sure the battery pack is properly seated. Battery pack (fi g. B) Battery type The tool will operate on battery packs of 36V or 28V. Refer to the table near the end of this section for a selection of applicable battery packs.

Use only D E WALT battery packs and chargers. Fitting and removing the battery pack Make sure the battery pack is properly seated.

  • To fi t the battery pack (7), line it up with the receptacle on the tool. Slide the battery pack into the receptacle and push until the battery snaps into place.
  • To remove the battery pack, push the release button (8) while at the same time pulling the battery pack out of the receptacle. Battery pack condition
  • Make sure your battery pack is (fully) charged. If the battery pack does not produce suffi cient power, charge the battery pack following the instructions in the manual of the charger. Replacing the light bulb (fi g. C)
  • Unscrew the lens holder (6) and remove it.
  • Simply pull out the bulb (9) and insert a new one.
  • Reinstall the lens holder (6). Positioning the head (fi g. D) Your fl ashlight can be used as a standing model or as a handheld model. When used as a handheld model, the tool can be carried at the fl exible tube. When used as a standing model, the head can be positioned by means of the fl exible tube to adjust the direction of the beam of light.
  • Hold the base (2) with one hand and with the other hand slide the head (4) off the base.
  • Mould the tube (3) as necessary position the head.
  • To refi t the head, hold the head in front of the base and slide the head on until it clicks into place. OPERATION Instructions for use
