Fleischthermometer
Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this instruction manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by those familiar with these instructions.

Important safety instructions
- In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the
housing with liquids or immerse them.
- For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care.
- This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as the - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
• Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
• Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised.
• Children below 8 years of age must be kept well away from the appliance.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachments fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety.
- No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
Inserting the batteries
• Take off the rear cover to access the battery compartment.
- Fit the batteries inside, ensuring correct polarity, and replace the cover.
- The unit requires 1.5V batteries type LR03/AAA.
- During extended periods of non-use, the batteries should be removed.
- Never dispose of old batteries

in your domestic garbage. Old batteries must be disposed of through local 'special garbage
collection points'.
Display format selection (°F / °C)
- The lower part of the battery compartment contains the selector switch for the temperature display format, Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- The ex-factory setting is Fahrenheit (°F), but this can be changed to Celsius (°C).
Before fi rst use
- Remove the safety caps.
- Clean the appliance as described in Cleaning and care.
- Remove the protective foil from the LCD display.
Operation
Switching on or off :
- Press the Meat button to switch the appliance on.
- To switch off, keep the Meat button depressed for about 2 seconds.
- If the thermometer is not used for more than 10 minutes, it will automatically switch off (while saving the last setting).
Selecting the type of meat:
Press the Meat button to select the type of meat:

Selecting the cooking level:
- Press the Taste button to select the desired cooking level:

- Once the level is chosen, only those levels suitable for the type of meat selected are shown; e.g. for veal, only 'well done' und 'medium' are displayed.
Recommended cooking temperatures:

Measuring the meat temperature
• The cooking progress should be measured at the thickest part of the meat.
- Avoid fatty or bony areas when positioning the sensor.
- Remove the safety caps and insert the fork until the sensor is located roughly in the centre (i.e. the thickest part) of the meat.
- Wait 15-20 seconds to reach a precise result.
- The current temperature, as well as the cooking level already achieved, is shown by the fl ashing display. As soon as the next higher level of cooking is reached, the corresponding indicator will also start
fl ashing.
- A beep signal indicates that the pre-set cooking level has been reached.
- The acoustic signal can be switched off by pressing either the Meat or the Taste button.
- The fork should be cleaned after each cycle of use.
- The unit is now ready for a new measuring cycle.
• Always replace the safety caps after use and cleaning.
Cleaning and care
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the housing with water and do not immerse it in water; wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- The area around the fork should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and a mild detergent after each cycle of use; rinse thoroughly and wipe dry afterwards.
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials
which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.
This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
