USER MANUAL SC 7148 SEVERIN
Safety of particular groups of people
- This appliance may only be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge when they are supervised or if they have been instructed about the safe use of the appliance and have understood the risks resulting from the use of the appliance.
- Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance or stand or sit on it. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
- Keep the appliance, the mains adapter and mains adapter cord out of reach of children under 8 years of age.
- Keep the appliance away from children when it is switched on or is cooling down.
- Keep packaging material out of the reach of children and dispose of it properly. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffocation.
Connect the appliance safely
The appliance is operated with electrical current. Therefore there is a risk of electric shock. Therefore, pay special attention to the following:
- Check the appliance and mains adapter for possible damage before use. Never operate a defective appliance or an appliance with a defective mains adapter.
- Do not leave the appliance unsupervised whilst it is connected to a socket.
- Only connect the mains adapter to outlets which match the specifications on the mains adapter type plate.
Safety instructions
- Never attempt to repair the appliance or its mains adapter yourself. To prevent hazards, repairs to the appliance and the mains adapter may only be made by our customer service. Hand over a defective appliance to an authorised dealer or contact the SEVERIN customer service department.
- Do not immerse the appliance or mains adapter in water or other liquids, or treat with liquids. Keep appliance and mains adapter away from rain and wet conditions. Do not operate the appliance and mains adapter outdoors or in rooms with high humidity.
- Do not handle the appliance or mains adapter with wet hands. When unplugging the mains adapter from the outlet, always pull directly on the plug.
- Make sure that the mains adapter cord is not kinked, crushed or run over and that it does not come into contact with sources of heat, humidity and sharp edges. Make sure that the mains adapter cord does not become a stumbling hazard.
- Before cleaning or servicing the appliance and before changing accessories, switch off the appliance and make sure that the mains adapter is not connected.
Safety when handling rechargeable batteries
A rechargeable battery is installed permanently in the appliance. If rechargeable batteries are handled improperly, there is a risk of injury and explosion.
- Should it be necessary to replace the rechargeable battery, contact a dealer or SEVERIN customer service. Never replace the rechargeable battery yourself. Never replace the rechargeable battery with other rechargeable batteries or other non-rechargeable batteries.
- Never short-circuit rechargeable batteries, i.e. never touch both poles at the same time, especially not with objects that conduct electricity. Store rechargeable batteries so that they cannot be short-circuited by other rechargeable batteries or metal objects during storage.

Safety instructions
- To charge the rechargeable battery, only use the mains adapter provided. Never charge the rechargeable battery with another mains adapter. Only use the included mains adapter to charge the rechargeable battery for this appliance.
- At the end of its life span, remove the rechargeable battery as described. Then take the rechargeable battery to an appropriate collection point nearby, thus ensuring safe and environmentally-appropriate disposal. Never throw rechargeable batteries away in household garbage!
- Before removing the rechargeable battery, make sure that the mains adapter is unplugged from the outlet.
- Never take rechargeable batteries apart, expose them to high temperatures or throw them onto fires.
- In case of improper handling, liquid can escape from the rechargeable battery. Do not use the rechargeable battery if it is damaged or if it is leaking liquid.
- If liquid has escaped, avoid contact with the liquid.
- In case of contact with the liquid, rinse it off immediately with copious amounts of water. In case of after effects (irrespective of type), consult a doctor.
Rotating brush roller
The appliance contains a driven brush. This can cause injuries. Therefore, heed the following:
- Before cleaning, assembling or maintaining the appliance, make sure that the appliance is switched off and is not on charge.
- Ensure that parts of your body can never get under the brush.
- Do not mop near cables, wires and long fringes. On the one hand, there is a danger that the cable's insulation will be damaged. On the other hand, these objects can get tangled in the brush and damage the appliance.

Safety during operation and storage
- Do not use the appliance in case of smells, overheating or low suction power.
- The appliance must not be used if it has fallen, if it has obvious signs of damage, or if it is not leak tight.
- Place the appliance on the floor. Do not set it down on chairs or tables, for instance. Be careful when using it on stairs.
- Liquid must not be directed at electrical appliances or devices which contain electrical components, e.g. the inside of ovens.
- Store the appliance in a cool, dry place.
- Keep plastic packaging out of the reach of babies and toddlers.
Intended use
- The appliance must only be used domestically.
- The appliance must only be used for cleaning on level, normally-soiled hard floors that can withstand the loads applied by the rotating brush roller without suffering damage.
- The appliance must only be used on tiles, laminated material, sealed wood, marble or PVC.
- The appliance must only be used on sealed floors. In case of doubt, test it on an unnoticeable area or ask the manufacturer of the flooring.
- Any other use is deemed improper and is forbidden.
In order to prevent injuries, fires and damage, the appliance must not come into contact with the following:
- People, animals and plants. Always keep the appliance away from body parts, hair and clothing.
- Glowing or burning particles (such as ash, coals, charcoal, cigarettes, matches).

Charging the rechargeable battery and operating
- Explosive or flammable materials or toner.
- Toxic or hazardous substances, e.g. chlorine, ammonia, bleach.
- Pointed objects such as glass splinters, nails.
- Quantities of dirt that exceed normal quantities of dirt in their quantity or particle size, e.g. pebbles.
- Foaming liquids, e.g. soaps, detergent.
The following is also forbidden:
- Inserting objects into the appliance's openings.
- Use, storage or charging outdoors.

Function
The appliance has separate fresh water and dirty water tanks. When you press the pulse key, the appliance pumps the cleaning solution onto the brush. The rotating brush removes stains, dust and even stubborn dirt.
The accessories set includes three brushes.
- Microfibre brush for sensitive floors, such as cork.
- Red brush for normal floors, e.g. parquet, laminate.
Grey brush for robust floors, e.g. floorboards and tiles.
The dirty water is collected in the dirty water tank. That way, you always mop with clean water.




Appliance maintenance and ordering spare parts
Filling the fresh water tank
Fill the fresh water tank with cold tap water or warm water with a temperature of a maximum of 50^ . Cleaning agents which do not foam, can be added. Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity of 550ml in the process.
NOTE:
Change the water in the fresh water tank after a longer period without using the appliance. For further information, see also Illustrated Quick Start Guide.
Emptying and cleaning the dirty water tank
It is best to empty and clean the dirty water tank after each cleaning process.
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off and is not on charge.
- Remove the dirty water tank from the appliance.
- Release and empty the dirty water tank.
- Wash out the dirty water tank with clean water.

Cleaning the brushes and brush cover
Clean the brushes and the brush cover regularly.
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off and is not on charge.
- Remove the brush cover.
- Release and remove the brush.
- Clean the brush cover and brush with clean water.

Removing the handle
In order, for instance, to send the appliance to our customer service department, remove the handle.
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off and is not on charge.
- Remove the middle screw from the rear of the appliance.
- Insert the screwdriver into the hole from which you received the screw.
- Pull out the handle.

Troubleshooting by yourself

| Operating duration is becoming progressively shorter. | It is possible that dirt is preventing the brush from rotating freely. Clean the brush (▷ chapter "Cleaning the brushes and brush cover"). |

Disposal and warranty
Removing the rechargeable battery
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off and is not on charge.
- Remove the 8 screws at the rear of the appliance with a screwdriver.
- Remove the cover.
- Disconnect the rechargeable battery's plug-in connection.
- Remove the rechargeable battery from the compartment.
- Replace the cover and put the screws back on.
- Now dispose of rechargeable battery and the appliance separately from one another, see below.
Disposing of the appliance and rechargeable battery

Appliances and rechargeable batteries which are marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from domestic waste. Appliances and rechargeable batteries contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and the health of your fellow men. Hand over the appliance and the rechargeable battery separately, after removing the rechargeable battery, at the ap
propriate collection points.
Warranty
The legal warranty rights with respect to the seller and any seller warranties are unaffected by the following warranty conditions.
If repairs are required, contact our customer service department by telephone or e-mail. The contact information can be found in the appendix to this instruction manual. In case of warranty claim, you can also contact the dealer directly. In addition, SEVERIN grants a manufacturer's warranty of two years from the date of purchase. During this period, we will eliminate all defects caused by material or production faults that compromise the function. Other claims are excluded.
Excepted from the warranty are: Damage that is due to non-observation of the instruction manual, improper handling or normal wear; also easily-breakable parts such as glass, plastic or LEDs. Batteries and rechargeable batteries which are faulty or whose service life has been shortened as a result of normal wear or improper handling, are not covered by the warranty either.
If the appliance is tampered with by parties not authorised by SEVERIN, the warranty will be rendered null and void.
