Juli 2014 4:17 1612 Safety instructions 2 Safety instructions Connect the appliance safely Since the appliance is operated with electrical current, there is a danger of electric shock. Therefore: – Do not immerse appliance in water or other liquids, or treat with liq- uids. Do not operate the appliance outdoors or in rooms with high hu- midity. Do not handle the plug with wet hands. – Connect appliance only to outlets with protective contact. Connect and start up the appliance only according to the details on the name plate (underside of the appliance). – Check the appliance and power cable for possible damage before use. Never operate a defective appliance or an appliance with a de- fective power cable. – Never try to repair the appliance or its power cable yourself. To pre- vent hazards, repairs to the appliance and the power cable may only be made by our customer service. Give a defective appliance to a dealer or contact SEVERIN customer service. – Make sure that the power cable is not kinked, crushed or run over and that it does not come into contact with sources of heat, humidity or sharp edges. Make sure that the power cable does not become a trip hazard. – Do not pull or transport the appliance using the power cable. When unplugging the plug from the outlet, always pull directly on the plug. – If possible, do not use an extension cable. If this is unavoidable, use only GS-tested, simple extension cables (no multi-outlet adapters) that are designed for the appliance's high power consumption. – Immediately after use, before cleaning or maintaining the appliance, as well as before changing accessories, switch off the appliance and pull the plug from the outlet. Juli 2014 4:17 1613 Safety instructions Safety of particular groups of people – This appliance may only be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge when they are supervised or if they have been instructed about the safe use of the appliance and have understood the risks resulting from the use of the appliance. – Children may not play with the appliance or stand or sit on the appli- ance. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by chil- dren without supervision. – Keep children younger than 8 away from the appliance and power cable. – Keep packaging material out of the reach of children and dispose of it properly. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffocation. – Persons with sensitivity disorder, in particular reduced sensitivity to temperature differences, must be a lot more careful when using this appliance.. Superheated steam and hot appliance parts The appliance uses hot steam (approx. 100 °C). Risk of scalding where steam is discharged and on cleaning cloth soaked with hot steam! – Never point mop head towards persons, animals or plants! Mop head must always be pointed downwards towards the surface to be cleaned! – Make sure that no part of the body is ever positioned underneath the mop head. Never operate appliance without wearing shoes. – Do not point mop head towards electrical devices, outlets, cables, etc. or the inside of ovens! Juli 2014 4:17 1614 Safety instructions – Do not use appliance to clean pressurised containers or containers with unknown content. There is a risk of rupture or explosion! – When appliance is in operation, never leave it unattended. When ap- pliance is in operation, never lay it on its side. Never operate appli- ance in horizontal position or above head. – Allow appliance to cool down before removing or attaching the clean- ing cloth. – Always use handle to carry the appliance. – When cleaning, never remain on one spot too long. This may damage the surface. – Ensure proper ventilation during and after work. Smooth surfaces The hot steam settles as moisture film on the cleaned surface. Until this film is dry, there is a risk of slipping and falling. – Do not enter cleaned surfaces until they are dry. – Be even more careful when cleaning stairs: The steps can become slippery due to the steam. This can result in falls and injuries. Intended use Use steam mop only to clean sealed and straight hard floor surfaces (e.g. tiles, stone floors, linoleum and other smooth, sealed surfaces) that can withstand the high temperature, pressure and moisture of the steam. Juli 2014 4:17 1615 Safety instructions In order to prevent injuries, fires and damage, the appliance may not be used to clean: – People, animals and plants. Always keep mop head away from all body parts, hair and clothing. Do not use near your head. – Surfaces that are contaminated by substances hazardous to health. The hot steam can release these substances. – Textiles, leather, furniture, walls, counter tops, window panes, un- sealed, painted, oiled or waxed wood or ceramic floors, as well as surfaces made of glass, synthetic fibers, soft or glossy plastic. It is crucial that care instructions of the respective surface manu- facturers are followed. If in doubt, contact manufacturer before cleaning with hot steam! The following use is also prohibited: – As room humidifier or even as heater. – Use when not completely assembled or with other accessories not mentioned in these instructions. – On surfaces that come into contact with food. – With empty water tank. – In horizontal or above head position. – Without clean cleaning cloth. – Outside. Never fill water tank with any other liquid than cold water. Additives in the water tank result in unsafe use of the appliance. Always remove wet cleaning cloth when appliance is standing or stored. Otherwise the surface may be damaged. Residual moisture in the cleaning cloth can cause odours or even mould growth. ST 7181.book Seite 15 Dienstag, 22. 1. Make sure that surface is suitable for hot steam cleaning.
If in doubt, contact manufacturer of surface to be cleaned. TIP: It could also be useful to sweep or vacuum surface first.
2. Place cable into clip on handle to avoid running over it when cleaning.
3. Put clean cleaning cloth underneath (cleaning strip on top) and place mop head on it. To freshen
carpets, also put the carpet glider underneath.
4. Insert plug into outlet. The LED is lit.
5. Wait approx. 30 seconds.
6. Use handle to pump approx. 10 times, until cleaning
cloth is saturated with sufficient steam.
7. Then adapt the amount of steam discharged by pump-
