About this instruction manual

This instruction manual comes with a Quick Start Guide with pictures, which provides you with additional tips for the use of the appliance.
Connect the appliance safely
Since the appliance is operated with electrical current, there is a danger of electric shock. Therefore:
- Do not immerse appliance in water or other liquids, or treat with liquids. Do not operate the appliance outdoors or in rooms with high humidity. Do not handle the plug with wet hands.
- Connect appliance only to outlets with protective contact. Connect and start up the appliance only according to the details on the name plate (underside of the appliance).
- Check the appliance and power cable for possible damage before use. Never operate a defective appliance or an appliance with a defective power cable.
- Never try to repair the appliance or its power cable yourself. To prevent hazards, repairs to the appliance and the power cable may only be made by our customer service. Give a defective appliance to a dealer or contact SEVERIN customer service.
- Make sure that the power cable is not kinked, crushed or run over and that it does not come into contact with sources of heat, humidity or sharp edges. Make sure that the power cable does not become a trip hazard.
- Do not pull or transport the appliance using the power cable. When unplugging the plug from the outlet, always pull directly on the plug.
- If possible, do not use an extension cable. If this is unavoidable, use only GS-tested, simple extension cables (no multi-outlet adapters) that are designed for the appliance's high power consumption.
- Immediately after use, before cleaning or maintaining the appliance, as well as before changing accessories, switch off the appliance and pull the plug from the outlet.
Safety of particular groups of people
- This appliance may only be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge when they are supervised or if they have been instructed about the safe use of the appliance and have understood the risks resulting from the use of the appliance.
- Children may not play with the appliance or stand or sit on the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children without supervision.
- Keep children younger than 8 away from the appliance and power cable.
- Keep packaging material out of the reach of children and dispose of it properly. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffocation.
- Persons with sensitivity disorder, in particular reduced sensitivity to temperature differences, must be a lot more careful when using this appliance..
Superheated steam and hot appliance parts

The appliance uses hot steam (approx. 100^ ). Risk of scalding where steam is discharged and on cleaning cloth soaked with hot steam!
- Never point mop head towards persons, animals or plants! Mop head must always be pointed downwards towards the surface to be cleaned!
- Make sure that no part of the body is ever positioned underneath the mop head. Never operate appliance without wearing shoes.
- Do not point mop head towards electrical devices, outlets, cables, etc. or the inside of ovens! During cleaning, keep sufficient distance from outlets or the like that are installed in the floor. There is a risk of electric shock!
Safety instructions
- Do not use appliance to clean pressurised containers or containers with unknown content. There is a risk of rupture or explosion!
- When appliance is in operation, never leave it unattended. When appliance is in operation, never lay it on its side. Never operate appliance in horizontal position or above head.
- Allow appliance to cool down before removing or attaching the cleaning cloth.
- Always use handle to carry the appliance.
- When cleaning, never remain on one spot too long. This may damage the surface.
- Ensure proper ventilation during and after work.
Smooth surfaces
The hot steam settles as moisture film on the cleaned surface. Until this film is dry, there is a risk of slipping and falling.
- Do not enter cleaned surfaces until they are dry.
- Be even more careful when cleaning stairs:
The steps can become slippery due to the steam.
This can result in falls and injuries.
Intended use
Use steam mop only to clean sealed and straight hard floor surfaces (e.g. tiles, stone floors, linoleum and other smooth, sealed surfaces) that can withstand the high temperature, pressure and moisture of the steam.
Any other use is improper and is forbidden.
Safety instructions
In order to prevent injuries, fires and damage, the appliance may not be used to clean:
- People, animals and plants. Always keep mop head away from all body parts, hair and clothing. Do not use near your head.
- Surfaces that are contaminated by substances hazardous to health. The hot steam can release these substances.
- Textiles, leather, furniture, walls, counter tops, window panes, unsealed, painted, oiled or waxed wood or ceramic floors, as well as surfaces made of glass, synthetic fibers, soft or glossy plastic.
It is crucial that care instructions of the respective surface manufacturers are followed. If in doubt, contact manufacturer before cleaning with hot steam!
The following use is also prohibited:
- As room humidifier or even as heater.
- Use when not completely assembled or with other accessories not mentioned in these instructions.
- On surfaces that come into contact with food.
- With empty water tank.
-In horizontal or above head position. - Without clean cleaning cloth.
- Outside.
Never fill water tank with any other liquid than cold water. Additives in the water tank result in unsafe use of the appliance.
Always remove wet cleaning cloth when appliance is standing or stored. Otherwise the surface may be damaged. Residual moisture in the cleaning cloth can cause odours or even mould growth.

Filling water tank
- Make sure that the appliance is switched off and the plug is pulled out.

- Fill supplied filling flask with cold tap water. Never put additives in water tank!
- Open cap on water tank and empty filling flask into water tank as shown.
- In doing so, do not overfill water tank. Always observe fill level.
- Close cap on water tank.

Steam cleaning
- Make sure that surface is suitable for hot steam claning.
If in doubt, contact manufacturer of surface to be cleaned.
TIP: It could also be useful to sweep or vacuum surface first.
- Place cable into loop on handle to avoid running over it when cleaning.

- Put clean cleaning cloth underneath and place mop head on it.
- Insert plug into outlet. The LED blinks.
- Switch the appliance on as shown. The LED is lit.
- Move the appliance like a regular mop.. As soon as the appliance is moved, steam is produced.
- Clean floor with hot steam. While doing so, do not remain in one spot for any period of time.

After steam cleaning
Immediately after steam cleaning

- Switch the appliance off as shown. The LED goes off.
- Pull plug from outlet.
- Wrap cable (Quick Start Guide, page 4).
- Wait at least 5 minutes until the cleaning cloth is cooled down.
- Remove cleaning cloth. Allow cleaning cloth to dry or wash at max. 60^ . Do not use fabric softener. Do not bleach. Do not put in dryer.

Cleaning the appliance
- Before cleaning, switch off the appliance and disconnect the plug from the outlet.
- The housing and power cable may not be handled with liquids or immersed in liquids for reasons of electrical safety. Rub housing with a slightly damp cloth and then dry.
- For cleaning, do not use any sharp or scouring cleansers or hard brushes.

Warranty
The legal warranty rights with respect to the seller and any seller warranties are unaffected by the following warranty conditions.
If repair should be necessary, contact our customer service via telephone or mail. The contact data is in the appendix to this instruction manual. In case of warranty claim, you may also contact the dealer directly. In addition, SEVERIN grants a manufacturer's warranty of two years from the purchase date. In this period, we will eliminate all defects due to material or manufacturing errors and which compromise the function. Other claims are excluded.
Excepted from the warranty are: Damage that is due to non-observation of the instruction manual, improper handling or normal wear; also easily-breakable parts such as glass, plastic or light bulbs. Intervention of people not authorised by SEVERIN voids the warranty.
Disposal

Appliances that are marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from household garbage. These appliances contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and the health of your fellow men. Your community government or your dealer can provide information about proper disposal.
