Frequently Asked Questions - Q40 ACDC Mobicool

How to use the cooler in heating mode?
If your device has the additional "Heater" equipment, slide the switch on the control panel to the HOT position. The indicator light turns red. The interior temperature rises up to 65 °C maximum. To turn off, set the switch to OFF.
How to adjust the cooling power?
On 230 V mains, turn the switch clockwise to increase power. The ECO position saves energy, MAX gives maximum cooling. On 12 V battery, the power is fixed and maximum.
What to do if the cooler does not work?
First check the power supply: on DC, the vehicle ignition must be on; on AC, try another outlet. If the DC socket is dirty, clean it. Also check the fuses (DC switch and vehicle). If nothing works, contact an authorized after-sales service.
How to clean the cooler?
Before any cleaning, unplug the device. Use a damp cloth for the interior and exterior. Never immerse the device in water or use abrasive products or hard objects.
Can I use the cooler with a vehicle battery?
Yes, connect the DC cable to the cigarette lighter socket. Make sure the ignition is on. If your vehicle has a 12 V battery, it's compatible. For a 24 V battery, use the Y24 transformer (accessory).
What is the difference between ECO and MAX modes?
The ECO mode reduces energy consumption with limited cooling power. The MAX mode offers maximum power to cool faster. They are only available on 230 V mains.
How to save energy?
Place the cooler in the shade, in a ventilated area. Use ECO mode if moderate cooling is sufficient. Allow hot food to cool before placing it inside. Open the lid as little and as briefly as possible.
What does the red or green indicator light mean?
The red indicator indicates heating mode (HOT). The green indicator indicates cooling mode (COLD). These indicators are only present on models with additional "Heater" equipment.
Can I store medicines in the cooler?
Check that the cooling capacity of the device matches the recommended temperature for your medicines. The cooler can reach low temperatures, but it is advisable to consult the manual for precise settings.
How to install the ABS battery protection?
If your model is equipped with ABS, set the switch to ON to activate protection. This prevents the vehicle battery from discharging too much. When operating on AC mains, set ABS to OFF.

4 Accessories

Available as accessory (not included in scope of delivery):

Designation Description

Y24 24/12 DC/DC converter

for connecting 12-V--- cooling device to 24 V---

5 Technical description

The cooler is portable. It can cool items and keep them cool or heat items and keep them warm (with the additional heating feature) to max. 65 °C.

Its cooling system is a non-wearing Peltier cooling, the heat is discharged by a fan.

When the cooler is connected to a 230 V AC mains supply, it can be used in two different operating modes:

  • ECO mode: the cooler consumes less energy
    ● MAX mode: the cooler reaches maximum cooling capacity

The desired cooling capacity is selected with the cooling capacity control:

eco maxoff

To increase the cooling capacity, turn the cooling capacity control clockwise.

For the maximum cooling capacity turn the cooling capacity control clockwise all the way to the stop (max position).

To decrease the cooling capacity, turn the cooling capacity control counterclockwise.

To turn off the cooler, turn the cooling capacity control counterclockwise all the way to the stop (off position).

When the cooler is connected to the DC socket, the cooling capacity cannot be adjusted. In this case the cooler cools maximal.

5.1 Optional accessories

The device is available in different versions. The version you bought may have the following additional features:

- Heating

The contents of your cooler can be warmed or kept warm to max. 65 °C.

● ABS (activatable battery protection)

An integrated battery monitor can be switched on to protect your vehicle battery from discharging to dangerously low levels.

- Insulating lid

The lightweight insulating lid can be used as an alternative to the unit lid when transporting. Make sure that the insulating lid does not cool.

- Bottle hatch

A single drinks bottle can be removed via the bottle hatch.

- Additional pockets

Pockets on the outside provide additional storage space. Note that objects stored in them are not cooled.

6 Operation

Mobicool Q40 ACDC - Operation - 1

CAUTION! Health hazard!

Food may only be stored in its original packaging or in suitable containers.

Mobicool Q40 ACDC - CAUTION! Health hazard! - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage

  • Ensure that the objects placed in the cooler are suitable for cooling or heating (with the additional heating feature) to the selected temperature.
  • Ensure that food or liquids in glass containers are not excessively refrigerated. Liquids expand when they freeze and can therefore destroy the glass containers.
  • Ensure that your cooler is well ventilated so that any heat created can dissipate. Otherwise proper functioning cannot be ensured. It is especially important not to cover the air vents.

Mobicool Q40 ACDC - NOTICE! Risk of damage - 1

NOTE

  • Before starting your new cooling device for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (please also refer to the “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 11).
  • A few water drops may form inside the cooler if it has been cooling for a lengthy period. This is normal because the moisture in the air condenses to water when the temperature in the cooler falls. The cooler is not defective. Wipe it out with a dry cloth if necessary.

Mobicool Q40 ACDC - NOTE - 1

NOTE For coolers with fold in handles

If the handle is folded back or if the cooler is being carried, the lid is locked. You can only open the lid when the handle is folded forwards.

6.1 Energy saving tips

  • Choose a well ventilated installation location which is protected against direct sunlight.
  • If you want to set an increased energy efficiency and a limited cooling capacity for the cooler unit, use the cooler's ECO mode.
  • Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the device to keep cool.
  • Do not open the cooling device more often than necessary.
  • Do not leave the cooler unit open for longer than necessary.
  • Remove individual drinks bottles through the bottle hatch, if present.

6.2 Using the cooler in DC mode

8 Troubleshooting

Problem Possible cause Suggested remedy
Your device is not working (plug is inserted). There is no voltage flowing from the DC socket (cigarette lighter) in your vehicle. The ignition must be switched on in most vehicles to supply current to the cigarette lighter.
No voltage present in the AC voltage socket.Try using another plug socket.
The inner fan or the cooling element is defective. This can only be repaired by an authorised repair centre.
When operating from the DC socket (cigarette lighter): The ignition is on and the cooler is not working. The fuse of the DC plug is dirty. This results in a poor electrical contact. If the plug of your cooler becomes very warm in the DC socket fitting, either the fitting must be cleaned or the plug has not been assembled correctly.
The fuse of the DC plug has blown.Replace the fuse of the DC plug with one of the same rating.
The vehicle fuse has blown.Replace the vehicle's DC socket fuse (usually 15 A). Please refer to the operating manual of your vehicle.
