Frequently Asked Questions - MCG15 Mobicool

How to set the temperature on the Mobicool MCG15 cooler?
To set the temperature, unlock the buttons by pressing the button for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Then press the button once to enter adjustment mode, then use the + and - buttons to select the desired temperature between -18 °C and +20 °C. The temperature flashes several times then displays continuously.
What are the available power supply modes?
The cooler can be powered by DC (12/24 V) via the vehicle's DC socket, or by AC (100-240 V) via the provided AC cable. Use the appropriate cable and plug it into the corresponding connector on the device.
How does the battery protection work?
The cooler is equipped with a multi-level battery protector. In DC mode, it shuts off automatically if the voltage drops below 11 V (for 12 V) or 21.5 V (for 24 V), and restarts when the voltage rises to 12 V or 23 V respectively. This prevents deep discharge of the vehicle battery.
What to do if an error message like 'E1' appears?
An error message indicates a compressor malfunction. Turn off the device and contact authorized after-sales service for repair. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
How to defrost the cooler?
To defrost, remove the contents and place them in another refrigerator. Turn off the device and leave the lid open. Wipe off the defrost water. Never use hard or sharp tools to remove ice.
What is the required ventilation distance?
Maintain a minimum distance of 50 mm around the ventilation openings to ensure proper air circulation. Never cover the ventilation openings.
Can I use the cooler to freeze food?
No, the cooler is designed for refrigeration of food, not for freezing. The minimum temperature is -18 °C, but it is not certified for rapid freezing or long-term storage of frozen products.
How to clean the interior of the cooler?
Before cleaning, disconnect the device. Clean the interior and exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive detergents, hard objects, and never immerse the device in water. Dry thoroughly.
What to do if the cooler does not work on DC socket?
Check if the vehicle's DC socket is powered (often requires ignition on). Check the vehicle battery (voltage too low). Clean the socket if dirty. Check the fuse in the DC plug (8 A) and replace if necessary. If the problem persists, contact authorized service.
Where can I find spare parts?
Spare parts (cables, fuses) must be supplied by the manufacturer (Dometic) or an authorized dealer. Only use original parts to avoid damaging the device.

  • Avoid unnecessarily low temperatures.

6.3 Connecting the cooler

Using the fused DC plug

Mobicool MCG15 - Using the fused DC plug - 1

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Failure to obey this instruction may result in damage to the device.

  • For protection of the device the DC cable supplied includes a fuse inside the plug. Do not remove the fused DC plug.
Only use the DC cable supplied.
  • Disconnect the cooling device and other consumer units from the vehicle battery before you connect the vehicle battery to a quick charging device.

Connecting to an AC power supply

Mobicool MCG15 - Connecting to an AC power supply - 1

DANGER! Electrocution hazard

Failure to obey these warnings will result in death or serious injury.

  • Never handle plugs and switches with wet hands or if you are standing on a wet surface.
  • If you are operating your cooler on board a boat from a AC power supply, you must install a residual current circuit breaker between the AC power supply and the cooler.
Seek advice from a trained technician.

▶ Plug the AC connection cable into the AC voltage socket of the cooler (fig. 3 6, page 3).

▶ Connect the connection cable to an AC power outlet.

6.4 Using the battery monitor

Mobicool MCG15 - Using the battery monitor - 1

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Failure to obey this instruction may result in damage to the battery. When switched off by the battery monitor, the battery will no longer be fully charged. Avoid starting repeatedly or operating current consumers without longer charging phases. Ensure that the battery is recharged.

The device is equipped with a multi-level battery monitor that protects your vehicle battery against excessive discharging when the device is connected to the on-board DC supply.

If the cooler is operated when the vehicle ignition is switched off, the cooler switches off automatically as soon as the supply voltage falls below a set level. The cooler will switch back on once the battery has been recharged to the restart voltage level.

Switch-off voltage at 12 V11 V
Restart-voltage at 12 V12 V
Switch-off voltage at 24 V21.5 V
Restart voltage at 24 V23.0 V

6.5 Using the cooler

Mobicool MCG15 - Using the cooler - 1

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Failure to obey this instruction may result in damage to the device. Ensure at all times that there is sufficient ventilation so that the heat that generated during operation can dissipate. Ensure that the ventilation slots are not covered. Make sure that the device is sufficiently far away from walls and other objects so that the air can circulate. We recommend keeping a gap of at least 50 mm around ventilation holes.

▶ Place the cooler on a firm foundation.

Mobicool MCG15 - NOTICE! Damage hazard - 1

NOTE

Place the cooler as shown (fig. 1, page 3). If you operate the cooler in a different orientation it can be damaged.

▶ Connect the cooler (chapter “Connecting the cooler” on page 11).

√ The cooler starts cooling the interior.

Mobicool MCG15 - NOTE - 1

NOTICE! EXCESSIVELY LOW TEMPERATURE HAZARD

Failure to obey this instruction may result in damage to the objects placed in the cooler.

Ensure that only those objects are placed in the cooler that are intended to be cooled at the selected temperature.

Mobicool MCG15 - NOTICE! EXCESSIVELY LOW TEMPERATURE HAZARD - 1

NOTE – Displayed temperature

The temperature displayed is that of the middle of the interior. The temperature elsewhere can deviate from this temperature.

Mobicool MCG15 - NOTE – Displayed temperature - 1

NOTE

When operating from a battery, the display switches off automatically if the battery voltage is low.

To avoid food waste, note the following:

  • Keep temperature fluctuation as low as possible. Only open the cooling box as often and for as long as necessary. Store the foodstuff in such a way that the air can still circulate well.
  • Adjust the temperature to the quantity and type of the foodstuff.
  • Foodstuff can easily absorb or release odor or taste. Always store foodstuff covered or in closed containers/bottles.

6.6 Latching the cooler lid

▶ Lift the latch (fig. 1, page 3) and close the lid.
▶ Release the latch.
√ The latch audibly clicks in place and secures the cooling device lid.

6.7 Setting the temperature

▶ To unlock the buttons press the √ button for 3 seconds(fig. 2 4, page 3).
√ A beeping sound confirms the unlocking.
▶ To enter setting mode press the button once.
▶ To enter temperature settings press the button once.
▶ Use the “+” (fig. 2 3, page 3) and “−” (fig. 2 5, page 3) buttons to select the cooling temperature.
√ The set temperature appears in the display for a few seconds. The display flashes several times and then the current temperature is displayed again.

6.8 Switching off the cooler

▶ Empty the cooler.

▶ Switch the cooler off.
▶ Pull out the connection cable.

If you do not want to use the cooler for a longer period of time:

Leave the lid slightly open. This prevents odor build-up.

6.9 Defrosting the cooler

Humidity can form frost in the interior of the cooling device or on the evaporator. This reduces the cooling capacity.

Mobicool MCG15 - Defrosting the cooler - 1

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Failure to obey this instruction may result in damage to the device. Never use hard or pointed tools to remove ice or to loosen objects which have frozen in place.

To defrost the cooler, proceed as follows:

▶ Take out the contents of the cooler.
▶ If necessary, place them in another cooling device to keep them cool.
▶ Switch off the device.
Leave the lid open.
▶ Wipe off the defrosted water.
