Frequently Asked Questions - LA 20 BEURER

How to use the LA 20 diffuser for the first time?

Remove the outer cover, fill the tank with cold water to the MAX mark (80 ml) using the measuring glass, add 3 to 5 drops of water-based aromatic oil, replace the cover, plug in the power adapter and press the On/Off button.

What types of aromatic oils can I use?

Use exclusively water-based aromatic oils. Oil-based or solvent-based oils may damage the device.

How to clean the diffuser after each use?

Unplug the device, empty residual water, clean the cover and the inside of the tank with a slightly damp soft cloth. Do not use abrasive or solvent-containing products.

What to do if the diffuser does not produce mist?

Check that the power adapter is properly plugged in, that the tank has enough water (without exceeding MAX), that the outlet opening is not blocked, and that the water is not too cold. Remove and replace the ultrasonic cap if necessary.

How to descale the ultrasonic membrane?

Remove the ultrasonic cap by turning it a quarter turn counterclockwise. Put a few drops of descaling solution on the membrane, leave for 2 to 5 minutes, then rinse the base twice with clean water. Replace the cap by turning it clockwise.

Can the diffuser operate continuously?

The device has automatic shut-off when the tank is empty (after 2-3 seconds). The operating time is approximately 3 to 6 hours depending on the mode. It is recommended to turn it off after use and unplug it.

Can I use the diffuser in a bathroom?

No, the device should be used in indoor rooms away from moisture. Never use it in a bathroom, sauna or near water.

What are the instructions for the different light settings?

The device has 3 modes: one press turns on diffusion and light with color change; two presses turns on diffusion only; three presses turns everything off. The light automatically changes color in combined mode.

How to change aromatic oil?

Empty residual water, carefully clean the tank with a soft damp cloth (without detergent), then refill with fresh water and add the new oil. Avoid mixing oils.

What to do in case of malfunction or visible damage?

Unplug the device immediately. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact Beurer customer service or an authorized dealer. The 3-year warranty covers manufacturing defects, but not damage due to improper use.

Aroma oil

WARNING

- The aroma oil must not come into direct contact with the skin or eyes and must not be swallowed. See the safety notes of the respective aroma oil.

Electric shock

WARNING

As with every electrical device, use this device carefully and cautiously, in order to avoid hazards due to electric shock.

- Therefore, observe the following instructions for use:

• Only use this device with the voltage specified on the device
• Never use the device if it shows visible signs of damage

• Do not use the device during a thunderstorm

• In the case of defects or operational faults, switch the device off immediately and disconnect the device from the mains socket. Do not pull on the mains cable or on the device to disconnect the mains adapter from the socket. Never hold or carry the device by the mains cable.

• Only use the device in dry rooms (e.g. never in the bath, sauna).
• Never reach for a device that has been submerged in water. Disconnect the mains adapter immediately.
• Do not drop the device or subject it to any impacts.
• Do not clamp or pinch the mains cable.
• Ensure that the mains cable and mains adapter do not come into contact with water, steam or other liquids.

Repairs

WARNING

Only specialist personnel may perform repairs on electrical devices. Improper repairs may subject users to considerable danger. For repairs, please contact Customer Services or an authorised retailer.

Risk of fire

WARNING

There is a risk of fire if the device is used improperly or these instructions for use are ignored.

Therefore, observe the following instructions for use:

• Never use underneath a cover, such as a blanket, pillow, etc.
• Never use near petrol or other highly flammable substances.

Handling

IMPORTANT

• The device must be switched off and disconnected from the mains every time after use and before cleaning.
• Ensure that the mains cable does not pose a trip hazard.
• Do not insert any objects into openings on the device.
• Do not place any objects on the device.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures.
• Avoid water damage by handling the device carefully (e.g. water damage from splashing in the vicinity of wooden floors).
• If the device should accidentally tip over, water may escape, even if the device is switched off and unplugged.
• The immediate vicinity of the device can become damp.
• Calcareous water can leave white deposits.
• Do not place the device on the floor, but in a raised position (e.g. on a table or chest of drawers).
• Position the device so that the mist outlet is not directed towards objects.
• Empty any remaining water when the device is not in use.
• The water tank and the cover are made of oil-resistant materials. Keep aroma oils away from other components of the device as these could become damaged by certain ingredients within the oils.

4. Intended use

The aroma diffuser is only to be used for improving the ambient scent in a room. The device is intended for private use.

Use the device for the intended purpose only and in the manner specified in these instructions for use. Any form of improper use can be dangerous. The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from improper or careless use.

6. Initial use

WARNING

• Only fill the device when the network adapter is unplugged.
• Never fill the device when the cover is still on.
• Only use for water-based aroma oils.
• Open the cardboard packaging, remove all the packaging film and check the device for damage.
• Never fill the device with hot water as it may leak.
• The water tank must be cleaned before the aroma oil is changed each time, as described under “8. Cleaning and maintenance”.

1. Pull the outer cover upwards to remove it.	2. Carefully pour the water from the measuring jug into the water tank. Observe the “MAX” marking in the device. The water level may only go up to this MAX marking, and must not exceed it.
3. Add three to five drops of the (water-based) aroma oil that you want to use.	4. Replace the outer cover.
5. Insert the USB cable into the connection socket.

7. Usage

Press the ON/OFF button to switch on the device (!!)

The device has three different modes:

The device has an automatic switch-off function. If the tank is empty, the device switches itself off after 2-3 seconds.

Power source

The power output should be at least 5 V, 1 A. Low power reduces the nebulisation performance. For example, the power from a laptop is sufficient but that of a PC is not.

After use

1. Disconnect the device from the power source.
2. Remove the outer cover from the device in an upward direction.
3. Pour any remaining water down the drain.
4. Clean the device as described under "8. Cleaning and maintenance".

8. Cleaning and maintenance

Note

Before cleaning the device, ensure that the device is disconnected from the power supply and that there is no water left in the water tank. Regular cleaning is a prerequisite for hygienic and fault-free operation. The aroma diffuser can be dismantled for cleaning easily and without tools.

• Clean the device after every use using a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove deposits (e.g. limescale), paying particular attention to the cover and the inside of the water tank. Never use abrasive, corrosive or solvent-based cleaning products.
• To clean the ultrasonic membrane (figure A), remove the ultrasonic cap (figure B) with a quarter turn anti-clockwise and then clean the membrane. Then return the ultrasonic cap and secure it with a quarter turn clockwise.

Descaling

Descaling the ultrasound membrane

Hard water can cause limescale to build up in the device and, especially, on the ultrasound membrane. This forms white deposits. Descale the device regularly.

Drop some descaler onto the ultrasound membrane.

Leave it to take effect for 2 to 5 minutes.

Rinse the base unit twice with clean, fresh water.

10. What if there are problems?

Problem Cause	Solution
No mist is being emitted from the device	Mains adapter is not plugged in.	Insert the mains adapter into a suitable socket.
	There is not enough water in the water tank.	Fill the water tank up to the “MAX” marking.
	There is too much water in the water tank.	Pour away excess water from the water tank until it only reaches the “MAX” marking.
	The outlet in the cover is blocked.	Check that the outlet in the cover is not blocked.
	Water too cold.	Pour in warm, but not boiling, water.
	Air bubbles under/on the ultrasonic cap.	Remove the ultrasonic cap and then reinsert it.

11. Disposal

For environmental reasons, do not dispose of the device in the household waste at the end of its useful life. Dispose of the unit at a suitable local collection or recycling point. Dispose of the device in accordance with EC Directive – WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). If you have any questions, please contact the local authorities responsible for waste disposal.

13. Warranty / Service

Beurer GmbH, Söflinger Straße 218, 89077 Ulm, Germany (hereinafter referred to as “Beurer”) provides a warranty for this product, subject to the requirements below and to the extent described as follows.

The warranty conditions below shall not affect the seller's statutory warranty obligations which ensue from the sales agreement with the buyer.

The warranty shall apply without prejudice to any mandatory statutory provisions on liability.

Beurer guarantees the perfect functionality and completeness of this product.

The worldwide warranty period is 3 years, commencing from the purchase of the new, unused product from the seller.

The warranty only applies to products purchased by the buyer as a consumer and used exclusively for personal purposes in the context of domestic use.

German law shall apply.

During the warranty period, should this product prove to be incomplete or defective in functionality in accordance with the following provisions, Beurer shall carry out a repair or a replacement delivery free of charge, in accordance with these warranty conditions.

If the buyer wishes to make a warranty claim, they should approach their local retailer in the first instance: see the attached “International Service” list of service addresses.

The buyer will then receive further information about the processing of the warranty claim, e.g. where they can send the product and what documentation is required.

A warranty claim shall only be considered if the buyer can provide Beurer, or an authorised Beurer partner, with

- a copy of the invoice/purchase receipt, and

- the original product.

The following are explicitly excluded from this warranty:

- deterioration due to normal use or consumption of the product;

- accessories supplied with this product which are worn out or used up through proper use (e.g. batteries, rechargeable batteries, cuffs, seals, electrodes, light sources, attachments and nebuliser accessories);

- products that are used, cleaned, stored or maintained improperly and/or contrary to the provisions of the instructions for use, as well as products that have been opened, repaired or modified by the buyer or by a service centre not authorised by Beurer;

- damage that arises during transport between manufacturer and customer, or between service centre and customer;

- products purchased as seconds or as used goods;

- consequential damage arising from a fault in this product (however, in this case, claims may exist arising from product liability or other compulsory statutory liability provisions).

Repairs or an exchange in full do not extend the warranty period under any circumstances.
