Frequently Asked Questions - Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 HX6803 PHILIPS

How to charge the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 toothbrush?
Place the handle on the plugged-in charger or on the UV sanitizer. The light flashes green during charging. A full charge takes up to 24 hours. You can use the brush before it is fully charged.
How to replace the brush head?
Pull the old head upward to remove it. Align the new smart brush head so that the bristles are aligned with the front of the handle, then press firmly until it clicks. The replacement reminder resets automatically.
What is the EasyStart function and how to enable/disable it?
EasyStart gradually increases power over the first 14 brushings to get you used to it. To enable/disable, place the handle on the charger, press and hold the on/off button until you hear 1 beep (up to 3 seconds). Release: the lights flash 2 times green for activation, 1 time orange for deactivation.
How does the QuadPacer work?
The QuadPacer divides your mouth into 4 sections and gives a brief pause every 30 seconds to indicate you should move to the next section. The total cycle lasts 2 minutes, then the brush stops automatically (SmartTimer).
What to do if the handle vibrates differently or the light flashes orange?
This means you are applying too much pressure. Reduce pressure: the handle will return to normal vibration and the orange light will turn off. The pressure sensor protects your teeth and gums.
How to clean the toothbrush and UV sanitizer?
Rinse the brush head after each use. Clean the handle with a damp cloth (do not immerse). For the UV sanitizer, unplug it, remove the drip tray, clean the inside with a damp cloth, as well as the protective screen and UV bulb. Make sure everything is dry before plugging back in.
Can I use the toothbrush with braces or dental restorations?
Yes, the brush is safe for braces, amalgams, crowns, and veneers provided they are properly attached. Brush heads may wear faster on braces.
Why does the brush head replacement light turn on?
The orange light indicates that the brush head should be replaced (usually every 3 months). BrushSync technology measures wear based on pressure and usage time. Replace the head for optimal cleaning.
How to disable the brush head replacement reminder or the pressure sensor?
Place the handle on the charger. Press and hold the on/off button: 5 seconds for the head reminder (2 beeps), 7 seconds for the pressure sensor (3 beeps). Release: activation (green flash + 3 beeps) or deactivation (orange flash + 3 beeps).
What to do if the toothbrush does not turn on or charge?
Check that the charger is plugged in and the handle is properly placed. If the battery is empty, charge it for at least 24 hours. If the problem persists, contact Philips consumer service. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

1 When you attach a new smart brush head for the first time, the handle recognizes that you have a Philips brush head with BrushSync technology and begins tracking brush head wear. 2 Over time, based on the pressure you apply and the total time the brush head has been used, the handle tracks brush head wear in order to determine the optimal time to replace your brush head. This feature guarantees the best cleaning and care of your teeth. 3 When the brush head replacement reminder indicator lights up amber, you should replace your brush head.

All smart brush heads come with the brush head replacement reminder feature activated. To deactivate the brush head replacement reminder see 'Activating or deactivating features'.

Using your Philips Sonicare toothbrush

If you are using a Sonicare toothbrush for the first time, it is normal to feel more vibration than with a non-electric toothbrush. First-time users typically apply too much pressure. Simply press gently and let the toothbrush do the cleaning for you. For the best results, follow the brushing instructions.

For models without intensity settings

To help you transition to your new Sonicare power toothbrush, the EasyStart function is activated when you receive it. This function gradually increases the power of the handle over the first 14 brushing sessions to help you get used to brushing with a Philips Sonicare toothbrush.

For models with intensity settings

To help you transition to your new Sonicare power toothbrush, use a lower setting for the first 1-2 weeks, then switch to a higher setting.

Removing the rechargeable battery

The built-in rechargeable battery must only be removed by a qualified specialist when the appliance is discarded. Before removing the battery, make sure the battery is completely discharged.

Take all necessary safety precautions when handling tools for removing the appliance and when disposing of the rechargeable battery. Always wear protective glasses, gloves, and clothing, as well as protect the surface you work on.

When handling the battery, make sure your hands, the product, and the battery are dry.

To avoid accidental short-circuiting of the battery after removal, do not let the battery terminals come into contact with metal objects (such as coins, nails, rings). Do not put the battery in an aluminum foil. Tape the battery terminals or put the battery in a plastic bag before disposing of them.

Removing the rechargeable battery

To remove the rechargeable battery, you need a flat-head (standard) screwdriver. Follow the basic safety precautions when performing the procedure described below.

1 To fully discharge the rechargeable battery, remove the handle from the charging device, switch on the toothbrush and let it run until it stops by itself. Repeat this step until the toothbrush can no longer be switched on.

2 Remove and discard the brush head. Cover the entire handle with a towel or cloth.

3 Hold the top part of the handle with one hand and hit the body of the handle about 1 cm above the bottom edge. Hit hard with a hammer on all 4 sides to remove the end cap.

Note: Before removing the battery, ensure that the internal catches are released.

4. Tilt the handle away from the head of the toothbrush. If it does not come off the body easily, repeat step 3 until it is released.
