UNOLD 58760 - IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS - 1

Water in particular frozen water causes splashes of hot oil, when coming into contact. Lower wet or frozen food very slowly and carefully into the oil to avoid splashes of hot oil or foaming of hot oil.

If the oil foams strongly, take the food out of the oil wait for a few seconds and then put it again into the hot frying oil.

SPECIAL SAFEGUARDS FOR THE USE OF DEEP FRYERS

  1. The deep fryer becomes very hot during use. Oil or frying fat may catch fire when overheated. Therefore special care is required for any long-time use. 2. Only use the appliance for frying of foodstuff according to these instructions. Only fry adequate foodstuff.
  3. Make sure that the foodstuff is dry to avoid hot oil splashes.
  4. Never add any water to the frying oil.

GENERAL FRYING RULES

  1. We recommend to use heat-resisting liquid oil. If the oil or fat becomes brownish after frying, it is not sufficiently heat-resisting. Please take another oil. Never mix different types of oil or fat since the boiling point of different oil types is varying.
  2. Do not mix used oil with fresh oil.
  3. Always observe the MIN/MAX marking when filling the recipient with oil.

  4. If you use solid frying fat, set the appliance to approx. 140^ . Cut the fat into small cubes of about 2 cm. Fill in a sufficient amount of fat cubes to cover the heating element. Switch the appliance on. As soon as these cubes are melted add more fat cubes until the required level between MIN and MAX is reached. This type of fat will become solid after cooling down.

  5. Do not overheat the oil, as this will crust the surface of the food and it will not be well done inside.

  6. The foodstuff must swim in the oil. Therefore do not fry too much food in one cycle. If the quantity is too big, the oil cools down and the food will absorb too much oil.
  7. Do not pour used oil into the sink, but fill it into closed recipient and dispose if according to your local regulations.

  8. If you want to use the oil several times, let it cool down and pass it through a sieve with a filter paper inside. The oil can be stored in a closed recipient in a cool place. Unfiltered oil will spoil quickly.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Unpack the lid, the oil reservoir, the frying basket and all other accessories and remove all packaging material.
  2. To open the lid, press the button „Deckel öffnen“ [„Open lid“] once. To detach the lid, pull the lid upwards and separate it from the appliance.
  3. Clean the lid, the oil reservoir and the frying basket with warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly.
  4. Reinsert the lid keeping it slightly inclined and inserting it into the retainer device on the appliance. Make sure that the thin metal spring bar is placed in front of the plastic part on the back of the lid retainer device of the appliance.

  5. Place the appliance on an even, firm and heat resistant surface.

  6. Insert the oil reservoir until it is firmly placed on the casing rim.
  7. Insert the frying basket by placing the handle with the slot in the plastic part into the corresponding recess in the rim of the casing. To lock the frying basket, push the button on the handle. Thus the handle can be folded downwards and the frying basket is lowered. To lift the frying basket, push the button again.
  8. Shut the lid.

OPERATION

  1. Make sure that the appliance is disconnect-
  2. Fill the oil reservoir with oil up to the necessary quantity (between the MIN and MAX marks).
  3. Adjust the temperature selector switch to the desired temperature. The heat-up process starts, the indicator light is switched on and lights up in red.
  4. When using deep-frying fat we recommend cutting it into cubes of approx. 2cm . Melt the fat at low temperature (approx. 150^ ). After this, you can heat the fat up to the necessary temperature.
  5. During the heat-up process, the indicator light lights up. As soon as the desired temperature is reached, the indicator light turns off. The appliance has a thermostat to control the temperature. The heating is switched on and off in intervals. The indicator light lights up correspondingly when heating up and turns off when the selected temperature is reached. For perfect frying results, the food should only be lowered into

the oil after the ideal temperature has been reached and the indicator light has turned off.

  1. Put the food in the frying basket and slowly lower it into the oil.
  2. Adjust the integrated timer to the desired frying time (see also table Frying times). When the time has expired, an alarm reminds you of taking the food off the appliance.
  3. When the temperature falls below the desired temperature and the indicator light lights up, lift the frying basket and wait until the necessary temperature is reached again. Then lower the frying basket and finish frying the food.

CAUTION: Oil can splash out

  1. Frozen food contains more water and causes splashes when being lowered into hot frying oil.
  2. Do not leave the fried food in the draining position for too long,

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. After use and before cleaning adjust the temperature selector switch to 0 and unplug the appliance from the wall socket.
  2. Let the appliance cool off completely.
  3. The appliance may never be immersed in or get in contact with water.
  4. Detach the lid of the appliance and remove the frying basket.
  5. Let the oil cool off a bit. Then remove the oil reservoir and pour the oil through a sieve covered with kitchen paper. You can store the oil/fat in the fridge and reuse it.
  6. Clean the appliance on its inside and outside with a damp cloth and some washing-up liquid, wiping it with a damp cloth with clear water afterwards. Do not use any abrasive or scrubbing agents. Make sure that no water penetrates the appliance. Dry the appliance thoroughly.

  7. Frying basket, oil reservoir and lid may be cleaned in warm water with a mild washing-up liquid.

  8. When the filtration effect of the filter diminishes, it should be replaced by a new one. Our after-sales service offers the corresponding parts and products. Clean the white oil filter with warm water and some washing-up liquid, but do not clean the active carbon filter, as this makes it lose its efficiency.
  9. Dry all parts thoroughly.
  10. Reinsert lid, oil reservoir and frying basket in the appliance.
  11. Regular cleaning considerably extends the lifecycle of the appliance.
  12. Store the appliance in a clean, dry area.
