SPECIAL SAFEGUARDS FOR THE USE OF DEEP FRYERS

- The deep fryer becomes very hot during use. Oil or frying fat may catch fire when overheated. Therefore special care is required for any long-time use. Switch the appliance off by means of the ON/OFF switch and unplug the appliance when you have finished frying and the deep fryer is no longer used.
- Only use the appliance for frying of foodstuff according to these instructions. Only fry adequate foodstuff.
- Make sure that the foodstuff is dry to avoid hot oil splashes.
- Never add any water to the fryi ng oil.
- Never switch the appliance on if there is no oil in the oil recipient.
- Make sure, that the oil level is between MIN and MAX. Do not fill in more oil, as it may splash out. Risk of injuries!
- Hot steam may occur during frying. Always keep sufficient distance from your face and hands and open the appliance only with care.
- Provide good ventilation during use.
- Do not cover the appliance during use to avoid overheating.
- Water or frozen water will cause dangerous splashes if getting into contact with hot oil. Lower wet or frozen foodstuff very slowly into the oil to avoid splashes and foaming of the oil.
- In case of strong foam formation lift the foodstuff and wait for moment before you put it into the oil again.
- The appliance is equipped with an overheat protection. If the appliance is switched on inadvertently or without oil in the oil pan and the heating element is not sufficiently covered with fat, the appliance is switched off automatically to avoid overheating. In this case first switch off and unplug the appliance. Let the deep fryer cool off. Push the small RESET button at the bottom of the appliance.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GREASE
- We recommend the use of heat-resistant, liquid oil for deep-fat frying. Comply with the instructions on the packaging, and pay attention to the best-before date. If the oil or grease turns brown after deep-fat frying, it is not heat-resistant. In this case use a different type. Never mix different oils and greases, because the boiling point of the greases varies significantly.
- Never mix new and old grease.
- When using oil, pour it in up to the required height (between the MIN and MAX marks).
- When using solid deep-fat frying grease, cut it into cubes and carefully melt it in a pot on the stove. Then carefully pour the melted grease into the grease container of the deep-fat fryer and ensure the proper fill level (between the MIN and MAX marks). After the appliance has cooled, this grease will solidify and must first be melted in a pot as previously described before reuse.
- Do not overheat the grease, otherwise the surface of the deep-fried food will become crusted and the inside will not be cooked.
- The food to be deep-fried must be immersed in the grease, consequently do not add too much food at the same time. If the quantity of food is excessive, the grease cools excessively and the food to be deep-fried becomes saturated with oil.
- Replace deep-fat frying grease on a regular basis. Deep-fat frying grease that is past its prime impairs the good flavour of the deep-fried food. Dispose of oil or grease that is past its prime in an environmentally-responsible manner in accordance with the local disposal regulations.
- If you reuse the deep-fat frying grease, first let it cool down slightly and then before it solidifies, pour it into another container through a sieve lined with a paper towel or filter paper. Then you can store the grease in a closed container in the refrigerator. Unfiltered grease spoils quickly.

TIMER
For setting the desired frying time (appliance does not switch off!)
BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE
- Take out lid, basket, handle and other accessories and remove all packaging materials. Keep packaging materials away from children - danger of suffocation!
- Clean lid, grease container, basket, handle and housing with warm, soapy water and then dry these items thoroughly.
- Place the housing on a level, stable and heat-resistant surface.
-
Insert the grease container until it rests on the edge of the housing.
-
Insert the operating element. Firmly slide the operating element into the aperture on the front of the exterior housing. The operating element must firmly lock in place.
- Insert the deep-frying basket.
- Close the lid and lower the deep-frying basket, by sliding the slide switch on the handle downward and slowly folding the handle downward.
- The lid can be opened by pressing the unlock button on the housing.
- NOTE: The appliance can only be switched on if the operating element is correctly inserted.
OPERATION
- Ensure that the appliance is switched off.
- To open the lid, press the unlock button for he lid.
- Take out the deep-frying basket by folding the handle upwards until it locks in place.
-
Pour in oil up to the required height (between the MIN and MAX marks). At least 1.6 litres of oil must be poured in, the maximum capacity is 2.5 litres of grease.
-
Close the lid.
-
Set the temperature controller to the desired temperature. The heat-up process starts.
-
If need be, you can now set the desired frying time to a maximum of 30 minutes on the timer. At the end of the set deep-fat frying time a signal sounds, however the appliance is not switched off!
-
When the desired temperature is reached, the green indicator light turns off. For the first deep-fat frying process the average heat-up time is 7 to 8 minutes.
-
For optimum deep-fat frying results, only immerse the food to be deep-fried, when the ideal temperature is reached and the green indicator light is illuminated.
-
Place the food to be deep-fried in the basket. Press the unlock button for the lid and open the lid.
-
Carefully place the deep-frying basket into the appliance.
-
Close the lid and lower the deep-frying basket, by sliding the slide switch on the handle downward and slowly folding the handle downward.

natural_image

CAUTION: Pay attention to oil splashes!
- Check whether your deep-fried food is ready through the view window. Attention: Hot steam can escape from the lid opening – danger of burning!

-
Note: Frozen food contains more water, water in hot deep-frying grease is rapidly evaporated, the rapidly evaporating water causes the popping, and splattering when frozen food is immersed in the hot deep-frying grease.
-
To open the lid, press the unlock button for the lid.
-
Take out the deep-frying basket by folding the handle upwards until it locks in place. Check whether the deep-fried food has the desired degree of doneness. If not lower the deep-frying basket again and continue as described from point 12.
-
Allow finished deep-fried food to drip off for a few seconds, and then remove the deep-frying basket. Do not leave finished deep-fried food too long in the drip-off position. The rising steam softens the deep-fried food.
-
After use, always place the temperature regulator on the „OFF“ setting and unplug the plug from the electrical outlet.

Attention: When using the timer function, the appliance does switch off automatically. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is in operation, even if you are using the timer function! CAUTION: The appliance becomes extremely hot during operation! Protect yourself against grease splashes and use suitable utensils for the deep-fried food.
CLEANING AND CARE

Before cleaning, unplug the mains plug. Allow the appliance to cool completely. Do not touch the parts because it is still hot, even after a longer period of time.
- Take out the grease container with both hands. If you want to reuse the deep-frying grease, pour the grease through a sieve that is lined with a paper towel. Keep the grease in the refrigerator, e.g. in the covered grease container. Solidified deep-fat frying grease can be briefly warmed up in a pot on the stove before reuse, until it is just liquid enough to be poured into
the grease container. Deep-fat frying grease must be replaced on a regular basis. Dispose of oil or grease that is past its prime in an environmentally-responsible manner in accordance with the local disposal regulations.
- Do not use any aggressive or scouring cleaning agents; such cleaning agents can damage the coating.
- The lid can be taken off the appliance for easier cleaning. Carefully pull the lid upwards and off of the appliance. To re-insert the lid, the pins on the lid must be inserted in the hinges on the rear of the appliance.
- With the exception of the housing all parts can be washed in warm water with a mild dish-washing detergent. If there is encrustation, allow the encrustation to soften by placing the parts in warm water.
- Dry all parts thoroughly.
- Place the lid, the grease container and the deep-frying basket back into the appliance.
- Regular cleaning significantly extends the service life of the appliance.
- Store the appliance in a dry location, where it is protected against dust.
FRYING SCHEDULE
The following times are only approximate values, which may differ subject to the type, the quantity and the volume of the foodstuff to be fried. In case of frozen food, set the temperature by 10 °C higher than in the schedule. Follow also the instructions of the manufacturer of the frozen food. For health reasons we recommend to let frozen foodstuff unfreeze partially and then to fry it with max. 175 °C . In order to reduce the production of acrylamide, the oil should not be heated over 175 °C .
