CAUTION: Overheating of the heating element Please note this important information if you would like to use fat in the deep fat fryer! The fat has to be melted slowly so that it can enclose the heat- ing element. When fat is placed in the deep fat fryer for the rst time or melted again, there is a danger of overheating if the selected temperature is too high!47 CAUTION: Overheating of the heating element Placing fat in the deep fat fryer for the rst time

Do not heat the fat above 50°C in order to prevent injury when transferring it from the vessel to the deep fat fryer.

  • Transfer the liqueed fat to the frying fat container.
  • Once the required oil level has been reached you can set the desired temperature on the thermostat. Reheating hardened fat in the deep fat fryer If the fat in the deep fat fryer has become hard, it is difcult to know how much it has already melted down at the heating element.
  • Turn the thermostat slowly up until the control lamp shows that the heating is working. Stop! Do not turn any further! The heating will now slowly heat up the fat.
  • A short time later the heating switches off again.
  • Turn the heating on again by readjusting the thermostat.
  • Repeat the process until the fat has melted.

  • Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g. pieces of French fries). After the device has been used several times you should change the oil. Use high quality frying oil or frying grease.
  • Fats and oils must be heatable to high tem- peratures. Do not use margarine, olive oil or butter: they are not t for frying, because they start to smoke already at low temperatures. We recommend the use of liquid frying oil.
  • It is essential to change the fat / oil regularly.
  • Do not use any frozen food containing ice!

Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.

  • If food containing too much moisture (e.g. chips containing a lot of ice etc.) is used, there is a strong tendency to form foam, which in the worst case may cause the hot fat / oil to overow and result in injuries.
  • Please note that the safety switch (6) is oper- ated when the control element is inserted into the guide mechanism.
  • Choose the right frying temperature and check the conditions of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature than raw foods.
  • Do not carry or move the deep fryer if the oil or grease is still hot.
  • When frying dough-like foods scrape off the excess dough and put the pieces carefully into the oil.
  • Please ensure that the handle of the deep fat frying basket has been correctly attached.
  • The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3 full. Do not overll the frying basket. NOTE: Maximum capacity Large basket: 1000 g Small baskets: 500 g each Tips for reducing acrylic amide concentration
  • Acrylic amide is a chemical compound. It comes from the bronzing process (deep-frying, baking, frying, roasting and grilling) in food- stuffs high in carbohydrates (starch and sugar) like, for example, potato and cereal products.
  • It is suspected that acrylic amide damages ge- netic make-up and causes cancer. The actual risk to humans is not currently known.
  • We recommend that you do not exceed 170 °C when deep-frying.
  • Furthermore we recommend that you keep the frying time as short as possible and fry food to a maximum gold yellow colour.
  • Thicker chips or pieces of potato are less affected as the acrylic amide is mainly in the outer layer.
  • If you make chips from fresh potatoes, you can soak the peeled and chopped pieces of potato for an hour beforehand. This removes some of the sugars (primary substance for acrylic amide) from the outer layers.50 Putting into use Before using for the rst time

1. Mount the handle onto the frying basket:

  • Press the ends of the wire together at the free end of the handle.
  • Insert the brackets into wire hoops inside the basket.
  • Lock the handle into place on the basket.

2. Please pull the connecting cable out of the

cable compartment. Electrical connection

  • Make sure that the iron voltage (see name plate) and the line voltage match.
  • The mains plug should only be inserted into a correctly installed socket with earthing contact. Connected Wattage The total power consumption of this device can be up to 3000 W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended. CAUTION: Overload!
  • If you use extension leads, these should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
  • Do not use any multiple sockets, as this device is too powerful. On/off switch When the switch is in the position “0”, the device is off. There are two ways in which the device can be used: Using without the timer switch

1. Move the on/off switch (1) to the “ON” position.

2. Select your desired temperature with the

temperature control (4). Using with the timer switch

1. Select the desired cooking time with the timer

switch (1) (5 to 30 minutes).

2. Select your desired temperature with the

temperature control (4). NOTE: Once the time is up, a bell will sound. The device will switch off automatically. Use

1. Make sure that the appliance is unplugged and

switched off (The control lamps are off.).

2. Take the lid off the deep fryer. Ensure the lid is

closed every time the device is heating up or frying.

3. Remove the frying basket and ll the container

with oil or grease (maximum 5 l). The lling level must be located between the minimum and the maximum level.

4. Insert the plug into a power socket. The red

control lamp lights up. Set the desired tem- perature by turning the temperature control (4).

5. Switch the device on with the on/off switch.

Switch it to the “ON” position or select a time.

6. The green control lamp lights up. Once the

set temperature has been reached the green control lamp goes off. Place the frying basket containing the items to be fried carefully into the hot fat.

7. The green control lamp switches on and off

several times during frying. This is normal and it indicates that the temperature is controlled by the thermostat and is being maintained. Once the frying time is over (the frying times are to be found on the packaging of the food or in the recipe), please take out the frying basket.

8. Let the oil drip from the food being fried.

1. Switch the on/off switch to the “0” position.

2. Turn the temperature control and/or the timer

3. Unplug the device from the mains.

4. Leave the device to cool.51

  • Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
  • Never immerse the control assembly into water. It could cause an electric shock or re. CAUTION:
  • Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
  • Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents. Wait until the deep fryer is completely cool before cleaning. Wait in any case for 1 to 2 hours after use before using again to avoid burns. Deep frying fat container
  • In order to change the oil, pull out the deep frying fat container and pour the oil out at the side.
  • The frying receptacle can be cleaned in warm water with a mild detergent. It is dishwasher safe. Take care that excessive detergent is not used. Frying baskets and lid
  • The baskets, handles, and the lid can all be washed in warm water with mild detergent.
  • Ensure that everything is dried thoroughly after washing. Housing and control assembly Clean these parts with a slightly moist cloth. Storage
  • Clean the appliance as described and let it dry completely.
  • We recommend that you store the appliance in the original packaging, should you not want to use it for a longer period of time.
  • Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well ventilated and dry location. Troubleshooting Device is not working Troubleshooting:
  • Check the mains connection.
  • Check the position of the on/off switch.
  • Check the position of the thermostat. Other possible causes: The device is tted with a safety switch (6). This prevents the heater being switched on ac- cidentally. Troubleshooting: Check that the control element is correctly in place. Overheating Protection
  • If the oil gets too hot, the device’s overheating protection will automatically kick in. The appli- ance is no longer ready to be used.
