Important information for your safety is specially marked. It is essential to comply with these instructions in order to avoid accidents and prevent damage to the machine:

General Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.
- The device and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualified person and with a cable of the same type.
- Use only original spare parts.
- Pay careful attention to the following "Special Safety Instructions".
Children and Frail Individuals
- In order to ensure your children's safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach.

WARNING!
Caution! Do not allow small children to play with the foil as there is a danger of suffocation!
- This device is not intended to be used by individuals (including children) who have restricted physical, sensory or mental abilities and/or insufficient knowledge and/or experience, unless they are supervised by an individual who is responsible for their safety or have received instructions on how to use the device.
• Children should be supervised at all times in order to ensure that they do not play with the device.
Special safety instructions

WARNING:
- Hot steam is emitted from the lid during operation and when the lid is opened! Danger of scalding!
- Be sure to hold the lid only by the intended handles after cooking. Risk of steam burns!

CAUTION:
- Fill water into the rice pot only, never into the housing.
- Use the inner pot (rice pot) only as an insert for this device. It is not suitable for other hobs!

IOTE:
A safety mechanism prevents switching on into the cooking process when the rice pot has not been inserted correctly.
- Place the appliance on an even, moisture and heat-resistant surface.
- Use a heat-resistant plate when placing on sensitive surfaces.
- Keep the unit at a safe distance from easily inflammable objects such as furniture, curtains, etc. (30 cm).
Intended use
This appliance is intended for
• preparing rice and keeping it warm;
- steam-cooking of food.
After reading the instructions and by complying with the instruction manual, the appliance may be used in the household and in similar fields of application, such as:
- in personnel kitchens of stores, offices, and other areas of operation;
• in agricultural premises;
• on bed & breakfast accommodations.
It is not intended for the use by guests in hotels, motels, and other residential facilities.
It may only be used in the manner described in this instruction manual. You may not use the appliance for commercial purposes.
Any other use is considered to be improper and can lead to material damages and even personal injuries.
The manufacturer will not assume any liability for damages that arise due to improper use.

How to use

CAUTION:
The appliance is not suitable for the preparation of rice pudding. Milk could boil over or burn.
Lid
Press the button in the handle of the lid to open the appliance.
Condensate collection tray
The condensate collection tray is located below the fastening of the lid. The condensate will accumulate there, when you open the lid.
Measuring cup
The measuring cup (CUP) in combination with the water level indicator in the rice pot helps determine the amount of water and rice.
For example, if you wish to cook 6 CUPs of rice, add 6 measuring cups of rice to the pot and fill with water to the respective (CUP) mark, e.g. 6.
Rice Quantity
- With this device you can boil a maximum of 1.3 kg of rice (gross weight). For this you require 3 litres of water. Depending on the type of rice, this will provide you with approximately 3.3 kg of boiled rice with a cooking time of approx. 45 min.
- The minimum quantity of rice for boiling is 280 g (2 CUPs), which will provide you with approx. 550 g of boiled rice, depending on the type of rice used.
- If the measuring cup is not at hand, please use a rice-to-water ratio of 1:2 (1 part rice:2 parts water).
ON / OFF switch
- When the ON / OFF switch is in the ON position, the appliance is operational. The control light POWER lights.
- The appliance is turned off when in the OFF position. The control light POWER goes off.
Function Switch
- When the function switch is switched towards the top, the appliance will stay in the operational condition "Keeping warm". The indicator lamp WARM is lit.
- With the function switch you can change over to the mode "Cooking". This is only possible if the rice pot is correctly inserted and the switching contact (in the middle of the hot plate) therefore properly connected. The indicator lamp COOK is lit.
Cooking time
- Once the water has fully evaporated in the rice pot, the appliance switches automatically to "Keeping warm", ending the cooking process. The indicator lamp WARM is lit.
Ending operation
Observe the following sequence:
- Check if the indicator lamp WARM is lit. Push the function switch upwards, if applicable.
- Set the power switch to the OFF position. The indicator lamp POWER goes off.
- Disconnect the power plug from the outlet.
Spoon holder
A bracket is located on the side of the casing. You can hang up the included rice spoon there.
Before Initial Use
- Remove the packaging.
- Check the scope of delivery.
- We recommend cleaning the appliance as described under "Cleaning".
Initial Operation
- Ensure that the ON / OFF switch is in the OFF position and that the function switch is set to "Keeping warm".
- Insert the plug of the connection cable into the appliance first.
Electrical Connection
- Before inserting the plug into the socket. Make sure that the mains voltage to be used matches that of the device. You can find this information on the nameplate.
- Connect the device to a duly installed protective contact socket.
Using the unit
Cooking rice
Prior to cooking rice, observe the manufacturer's notes on how to prepare the rice, such as washing the rice prior to cooking, or soaking certain varieties of rice.
- Open the lid.
- Insert the rice pot into the rice cooker.
- Set the desired rice volume of between 2 to 10 CUPs with the measuring cup and fill this volume into the rice pot.
- Fill the rice pot with water to the respective mark on the CUP.
- Close the lid.
- Make the electric connection as described in "Initial Operation". Turn the appliance on with the ON / OFF switch (ON). The WARM control light is on.
- Press down the function switch. The WARM control light goes out and the COOK light goes on.
- Once the water has completely evaporated in the rice pot, the appliance will switch automatically to "Keeping warm", thus ending the cooking process. The COOK control light goes out and WARM goes on.
TIP: Leave the rice for a further 5 minutes prior to draining it from the pot. - Carefully open the lid.

Steaming
Steaming is a gentle way to cook food using hot water steam. This maintains more valuable nutrients in the food compared with other methods of cooking. To steam food, use the steam insert.
- Open the lid.
- Insert the rice pot into the rice cooker.
- Pour the minimum quantity of water as stated in the following table into the rice pot.
- Place the steam insert into the rice pot.
- Place your food into the steam insert.
- Close the lid.
- Make the electrical connection as described under "Initial Operation". Turn the appliance on at the on/off switch (ON). The WARM control light goes on.
- Press down the function switch. The WARM control light goes out and the COOK light goes on.
- Check the cooking status occasionally.
- Depending on the steam time it may be necessary to top up water to compensate for evaporation. Add water as needed during steaming.

Once the end of the cooking time has been reached, please turn the appliance off: Push the function switch upwards and turn off the ON / OFF switch (OFF).

Remove the mains plug from the socket.

Cleaning and Maintenance

WARNING:
• Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down!
- Never immerse the housing, the line cord and the mains plug into water, as otherwise this might result in an electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:
- Do not use any wire brushes or other abrasive objects.
- Do not use any acidic or scouring agents.
- Do not clean the attachments in the dishwasher. The surfaces could become dull.
- Pour out the contents of the rice pot after it has cooled down.
Rice pot, steam insert, spoon, and measuring cup
- Clean these attachments by hand in a warm rinsing bath.
- Rinse the parts thoroughly with clear water and allow them to dry.
Casing
- Wipe off the inside and outside of the casing with a damp cloth. Then, wipe it with a dry cloth.
• To empty the condensate collection tray, pull it away from the casing.

Lid
- The steam outlet is located on the lid. It is detachable. To clean it, pull it out of the lid. Twist off the lower part in direction ON (loosen). Clean the parts by hand in a warm rinsing bath. After drying, twist on the lower part in direction OFF (tighten) onto the upper part again. When inserting it into the lid, ensure that the rubber cover sits on the lower part. Firmly press the steam outlet into the lid.
- You may wipe off the inside metal plate with a damp cloth. If you want to clean the metal plate in a rinsing bath, pull it off the lid. After drying, refasten the plate on the inside of the lid. Push the wide side of the rubber seal onto the bolt in the lid. It serves as a spacer. Slide the plate edge below the rubber seal of the lid.
