2.3 Altitude measurement
The altitude measurement on the BC 14.12 ALTI / BC 14.12 STS ALTI is determined on the basis of the barometric air pressure. Any change to the weather means a change to the air pressure, which can lead to a change to your current altitude. To compensate these changes in air pressure, you must enter a reference altitude into the BC 14.12 ALTI / BC 14.12 STS ALTI (process known as calibration). – Calibration using the start altitude The start altitude is the altitude of your usual start location (generally your home). You can find this information on road or country maps. It is set in the BC 14.12 ALTI / BC 14.12 STS ALTI once and calibrated within a matter of seconds.
2.2 Special functions
– Hiding total values during the trip If the BC 14.12 ALTI / BC 14.12 STS ALTI receives speed signals, all the total functions (distance, time, and cumulated altitude) are hidden on the display. If no speed values are received, the functions are once again displayed.
– Calibration using the current altitude The current altitude is the altitude of the place at which you are currently located irrespective of your start altitude (your trip start location, a mountain hut, or other locations). The current altitude is used if you are out on your bike and altitude information is provided.
– Synchronization Attach the BC 14.12 STS ALTI to the bracket – zeros flash for the speed. There are two ways of synchronizing the speed: – 1. Start cycling – the receiver usually synchronizes with the transmitter after 3-4 wheel rotations. – 2. Spin the front wheel until the speed values stop flashing. Removing the BC 14.12 STS ALTI from the bracket severs the connection.
– Message “Too Many Signals” Increase your distance from other cyclists (transmitters) and press any button. Synchronization re-starts. (If the transmission connection is lost during your trip and no longer functions, press and hold the MODE 1 button for more than three seconds to start manual synchronization. “Sync. RESET” flashes on the display)
2. Functions / Properties
– Transport mode When transported on a bike rack or in the car (if clicked into the bracket), the BC 14.12 STS ALTI switches to “transport mode” via an integrated movement sensor. “Transport” appears on the display. Press any button to exit this mode. > 3 sec.21 GB/US

3. Settings / Deletion
The following settings can be configured: language / unit / current altitude / start altitude / wheel size / time / total distance / total time / total altitude / contrast. Clear diagrams of how to set each of these functions can be found in the enclosed leaflet.
3.2 Determining the wheel size
To measure your speed precisely, the wheel size must be set on the basis of your tire size. To do this, you can: A – Calculate the wheel size using the formula provided in the wheel size chart. B – Determine the value from the drawings in the wheel size chart. C – Take the value that corresponds to your tire size from the wheel size chart.22
Please see the enclosed diagrams for how to insert or remove the battery. After changing the battery in the computer head unit, only the time needs to be re-set.
