How do I reset my TP-Link AV500 Powerline adapter?

Press and hold the Reset button (using a pin) for about 10 seconds until all LEDs turn off and then back on. The adapter returns to factory settings.

What should I do if I have no Internet access via my Powerline network?

Check that all adapters are on the same electrical circuit. Make sure the Powerline LED is solid. Re-pair the adapters if necessary. Check Ethernet connections and that your router/modem is working.

Why won't my Powerline adapter reconnect after moving it?

Ensure the new outlet is on the same electrical circuit. Keep the adapter away from large appliances (refrigerator, air conditioner) that may cause interference. Re-pair if necessary.

How do I pair a TP-Link AV500 Powerline adapter with another adapter?

Plug both adapters into nearby outlets. Press the Pair button on the first adapter for 1 second (the Power LED flashes). Within 2 minutes, press the Pair button on the second adapter for 1 second. The Powerline LED turns solid when pairing is successful.

What is the maximum range of a Powerline network with the AV500?

The theoretical range can reach up to 300 meters on the electrical wiring, but actual performance depends on wiring quality and interference. Speed decreases with distance.

Can I use the Powerline adapter with a power strip?

It is not recommended to plug the Powerline adapter into a power strip, as this can degrade the signal. Plug it directly into a wall outlet. If you must use a power strip, plug it into the adapter's passthrough outlet.

How do I know if the Powerline signal quality is good?

The Powerline LED indicates quality: solid green = good, orange = average, flashing red = poor. If red, move the adapter to another outlet closer.

Does the Powerline adapter consume a lot of electricity?

No, consumption is low: around 3 W in standby and 6 W in use. It can remain plugged in permanently.

Can I connect multiple Powerline adapters together?

Yes, you can add up to 8 Powerline adapters on the same electrical network. Each new adapter must be paired with an adapter already on the network.

What should I do if the Power LED does not turn on?

Check that the electrical outlet works by plugging in another device. If the outlet is good, the adapter may be faulty. Contact TP-Link support.

1. Connect the adapter to a LAN port of your router using an Ethernet cable.

2. Plug the powerline devices into the wall outlets near each other and on the same electrical circuit.

3. Pair the powerline devices.

A. Press the Pair button on the powerline adapter for 1 second. The Power LED⑥ starts blinking.

• If the Power LED does not blink, press the Pair button again.

B. Within 2 minutes, press the Pair button on the powerline extender for 1 second. The Power LED starts blinking. When the Powerline LED turns on, it's done.

1. Relocate the powerline extender to a new location. Connect to the Wi-Fi using the SSID and password on the product label.

2. A blinking or red Powerline LED indicates poor signal strength. Move the extender to another location.

3. Enjoy!

Tips: You can add more powerline devices to the existing powerline network by pairing these devices.

Attention

• Plug the powerline devices directly into the wall outlets but not the power strips.
• For passthrough powerline devices, plug the power strips into the integrated electrical sockets of the powerline devices.

Copy Wi-Fi Settings from Router to Extender

If your router supports WPS, you can follow the steps below to automatically copy the router's Wi-Fi settings (SSID and password) to the powerline extender.

1. Plug in the powerline extender near your router. Press the WPS button on your router.
2. Within 2 minutes, press the Wi-Fi button on the extender for 1 second.

3. When the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi LED and 5GHz Wi-Fi LED on the extender blink quickly for 3 seconds, and then stay on, it's done!

4. 5GHz Wi-Fi is not available on single-band products. For multiple-band products, the powerline extender copies by default both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless settings at the same time. If it fails to copy both, your router may be only able to clone one band at a time. Please check your router's manual for support.

Note: The wireless settings can also be configured through the powerline extender's web interface or through the tpPLC app. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play, or simply scan the QR code.
