USER MANUAL SRR 833 CLATRONIC
- To avoid the risk of re or an electric shock, you should not expose the device to rain or moisture. Consequently, do not use the device in the immediate vicinity of water - for example near a bath tub, a swim- ming pool or in a damp cellar.
- Only use the device privately and for the intended purpose. This device is not designed for commercial purposes.
- Only connect the device at a properly installed plug socket. Pay attention that the specied voltage cor- responds to the voltage of the plug socket.
- When using external mains supply, pay attention to the correct polarity and voltage. Always place the bat- teries in the correct direction.
- Assemble the device in such a way that the available ventilation openings are not covered.
- Never open the housing of the device. Incorrect repairs can constitute a considerable risk for the user. Should the device become damaged, in particular the mains supply cable, do not operate the device any longer, but rather have it repaired by an expert. Check the mains supply cable regularly for damage.
- For safety reasons a broken or damaged mains lead may only be replaced by an equivalent lead from the manufacturer, our customer service department or a similary qualied person.
- If the device is not used for a longer period, remove the plug connector from the plug socket or take out the batteries. These symbols may be found on the machine and are intended to indicate the following: The lightning symbol should advise the user of parts in the inside of the device which carry dangerously high voltage levels. The symbol with an exclamation mark should advise the user of important operation or maintenance instructions in the accompany- ing documentation. Devices bearing this symbol work with a “class 1 laser” for tracing the CD. The built-in safety switches should prevent the user be- ing exposed to dangerous laser light, which is invisible to the human eye, when the CD compartment is opened. Under no circumstances should these safety switches be bypassed or manipulated, as this could result in a danger of exposure to the laser light. Symbols in these Instructions for Use Important information for your safety is specially marked. It is essential to comply with these instructions in order to avoid accidents and prevent damage to the machine:

- This device is not intended to be used by individuals (including children) who have restricted physical, sen- sory or mental abilities and/or insufcient knowledge and/or experience, unless they are supervised by an individual who is responsible for their safety or have received instructions on how to use the device.

- The reception of radio programmes
- Playing back/recording audio cassettes
- Playing audio CDs. It is intended exclusively for this purpose and may only be used as such. It may only be used in the manner described in these instructions for use. The device must not be used for commercial purposes. Any other use of this device is considered to be contrary to the intended use and may result in damage to materi- als or even personal injury. The rm Clatronic International GmbH does not accept any liability for damage caused as a result of the use of this device contrary to its intended use. Start-up of the device/introduction
- Please read the operating instructions carefully before using the device for the rst time!
- Select a suitable location for the device, such as a dry, at, non-slip surface on which it is easy to operate the machine.
- Ensure that the device is sufciently ventilated!
- Remove the protective lm from the display if it is still present. Power Supply
- Connect the power cable supplied (see battery com- partment if necessary) to a properly installed 230 V / 50 Hz safety power socket and the mains connector AC ~ (17) on the back of the machine.
- Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on the model identication plate.
- The POWER (22) control lamp shows the function. Inserting the Batteries (not supplied)
- Open the battery compartment cover (3) on the back.
- Insert 6 batteries of type UM2/R14 1.5V. Please en- sure that the polarity is correct (see the inside of the battery compartment)!
- If the device is not used for a long period of time, re- move the batteries to avoid the spilling of battery acid.
- Close the battery compartment. NOTE: When a mains cable is connected the batteries are automatically switched off. CAUTION:
- Different battery types or new and used batteries must not be used together.
- Batteries are not to be disposed of together with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.
Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight. Never throw batteries into the re. There is a danger of explosion! Transport Safety Device, CD Compartment
- Open the CD compartment (4) by pulling the lid upwards by the tab (8).
- Before operating the machine for the rst time, re- move the transport safety device from the CD player if it is still in place. Volume The desired volume can be sent using the VOLUME regulator (15).32 Switch-off The machine is switched off when the function selec- tor switch (16) is turned to the ON/OFF/TAPE position. Unplug the device. AUX IN socket To connect analogue replay devices. Via this socket you can also hear the sound of other playback devices such as MP3 players, CD players etc. through the loudspeak- ers.
1. Please connect the external device with a 3.5 mm
position. The radio sound is switched off.
3. Through the loudspeakers you can hear the play-
back of the sound from the external device; with the VOLUME control (15) you can change the volume.
4. For the remaining procedure please see the operat-
ing instructions of the external sound source. NOTE: Adjust the volume of the external device to a comfort- able level. Listening to the Radio
2. Select the desired frequency band with the band
selection switch (6). VHF (Stereo) = FM ST., VHF = FM, Medium wave = AM (Mono)
3. Tune into the desired station using the TUNING
4. The FM.ST control lamp only lights up when you
have selected FM stereo and the station is being received in stereo quality. If reception is too weak and there is noise on the station being received, this lamp will icker. Where reception is bad we recommend switching to FM.
5. For VHF/FM mode pull out the telescopic antenna (1)
and turn it to improve reception.
6. An aerial is integrated into the device for the reception
of AM stations. The machine can be aligned to the station by turning it. In this frequency band programs are transmitted in “mono” only. Cassette Operation Playing Cassettes
STOP/EJ. stop/eject button (13) to open the cassette compartment (31).
3. Insert a recorded audiocassette into the compartment
with the tape opening facing upwards and the side you wish to listen to facing the front (full spool to the right). Then close the cassette compartment again.
PLAY playback key (10) to listen to the tape.
STOP/EJ. stop/eject key you can stop play-back.
6. Wind the tape forwards or backwards if necessary in
the direction of the arrow keys F.FWD = forwards (12), RWD = reverse (11).
STOP/EJ. stop/eject key when changing the direction or stopping the tape. This prevents damage to the machine and the tape.
8. If the STOP/EJ. stop/eject button is pressed
again the ap of the cassette compartment opens.
9. In order to interrupt playback briey, press the
PAUSE pause button (14). Pressing again continues playback. Recording Cassettes
1. Insert an audiocassette with the side on which you
wish to record facing forwards (full reel on the right). Ensure that the cassette is not copy-protected (the copy protection tab on the top narrow side of the cas- sette must not have been removed).
2. Select the source from which you wish to record with
the function switch (16) and then start playback from this source if necessary. The sound source which you are listening to is the one from which the recording is made. The recording level is controlled automatically. Changing the volume does not change the recording.
REC record button (9) (the PLAY playback button is automatically pressed down at the same time). Recording now begins. All previous recordings are automatically erased.
4. The recording can be interrupted briey using the
PAUSE pause key, or stopped by means of the STOP/EJ. stop/eject button. Playing CD’s
1. Push the function selection switch (16) to CD.
2. Open the CD compartment (4) by pulling the lid
upwards by the tab (8).
3. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing
upwards on to the central cone so that the CD clicks into place and then close the lid of the CD compart- ment.
4. “- -” appears in the display followed by the number of
tracks. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (28) in order to play the CD. The CD will play from the rst title.
5. In order to remove a CD, press the STOP (stop)
button (20), open the CD compartment and lift the CD out carefully33 Always keep the CD deck closed. NOTE:
- If a disc is inserted the wrong way around or no disc is inserted, the “- -” message ashes and “no” appears on the display.
- Playback of CDs produced by the user cannot be guaranteed due to the large variety of software and CD media available. Description of the CD buttons PLAY/PAUSE (28) (play/pause) With the CD running: You can briey interrupt playback; the current track number ashes. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to continue playback. SKIP- (19) (reverse search) With the CD running: Press once = This starts the current track again from the beginning. Press twice = This jumps back to the previous track. Press three times = This plays the song before etc. If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts to search through the tracks. SKIP+ (29) (forward search) With the CD running: With this button you can jump to the following track or the next track but one etc. If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts to search through the tracks. REPEAT (21) Press once = (the REPEAT (23) control lamp ashes) the current track is repeated continuously. Press twice = (the REPEAT control lamp lights up) the whole CD is played continuously. Press three times = all functions are cancelled. The normal play mode is resumed. STOP (20) The CD is stopped. Programmed Play with the PROG Button This can be used to program any desired sequence of tracks.

3. Select the next track with the SKIP+/SKIP- button and
press the PROG button again. Repeat the procedure until all the desired tracks are selected. NOTE: If the storage capacity of the title to be programmed has been reached, the previously programmed titles are displayed in sequence.
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (28). The playback
starts. NOTE: After programming any title, the control lamp (25) ashes.
5. Press once the STOP (stop) button to stop the play-
back while retaining the program.
7. In order to delete the programme, press the STOP
button in stop mode. The control lamp (25) goes out. The device stops automatically once the entire sequence of programmed tracks is completed. The programmed or- der of tracks remains in the memory until you change to a different mode, remove the CD from the CD compart- ment or switch off the device. It is possible to combine the programmed tracks with the repeat function. After you have programmed and started the device, please press the REPEAT button (21) up to three times and then you can use the functions as described under “REPEAT“. NOTE: Please note these instructions for playing back CDs and CDRs in MP3 format! The device is not able to play back MP3 files. The CD begins to turn, but the sound cannot be heard. Please note: There are a number of different recording and compres- sion methods, as well as quality differences between CDs and self-recorded CDs. Furthermore, the music industry does not adhere to xed standards (copy protection). For these reasons that there may occasionally be prob- lems with the playback of CDs. This is not a malfunction of the device.34 Troubleshooting Symptoms Course Solution CD can not be played back. CD is not insert- ed or inserted incorrectly. Ensure that the disc is inserted with the label facing upwards. Batteries too weak. Insert new batteries or operate the device with the mains lead. CD jumps dur- ing playback. Check the disc for ngerprints, dirt or scratch- es. Check the disc for ngerprints, dirt or scratches. The device cannot be oper- ated. The device is blocked, i.e. “stuck”. Remove the mains plug for approximately 5 seconds. Then turn the device on again. No sound through the radio or CD. Cable plugged into the AUX IN socket (18). Remove the cable on the AUX IN socket.
