. Read these instructions carefully before using the blender stick. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS – When using electric appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following. – Read all the instructions before using the appliance for the first time. Failure to observe the instructions and safety precautions may cause a hazard. – After unpacking, check the appliance for damage. Do not use it if you are not sure; instead, contact your retailer. – Keep the packaging material (cardboard, plastic bags, etc.) out of the reach of children (danger of asphyxiation or injury). – This blender stick is intended for household use only. Do not use it outdoors. – Do not place the appliance on or near hot gas or electric burners or in a heated oven. – The manufacturer is not responsible for damage or injury arising from inappropriate or improper use. Use the appli- ance only for the purpose for which it was designed. – Do not let children play with the appliance. – Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children, or by persons unfamiliar with it. – This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons unless closely supervised by a respon- sible person who can ensure its safe use. – Do not touch the appliance with damp or wet hands. Instead, take it to the nearest authorised service centre for examination, repair or adjustment. – Never attempt to replace the cord, as special tools are required. Repairs to or replacements of the cord should be left to a service centre authorised by the manufacturer to ensure the safety of the appliance. – Never immerse the cord, motor unit or plug in water or other liquid, as this could cause fire, electric shock or injury. – The appliance must remain disconnected from the mains while it is being cleaned. – Do not touch any rotating parts. – To avoid splashing, use a tall container or reduce the quantity when blending liquids, especially if they are hot. – Keep hair, fingers and utensils away from rotating parts to avoid serious injury to persons and damage to the appliance. – The blades are sharp: handle them with care. – Switch off the appliance and disconnect from supply before changing accessories or approaching parts that move in use. – Beware of potential injury from misuse. BISTRO INSTALLATION – Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal surface that is neither hot nor near a heat source. The surface must be dry. Keep the appliance and cord out of the reach of children. – Check that the voltage indicated on the rating label of the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage. Connect the appliance only to a properly earthed wall outlet with an output rating of at least 6 A. (Use a residual current device (RCD) – please contact a qualified electrician for advice.) The wall outlet must be easily accessible while the appliance is in use in case of emergency. The manu- facturer is not responsible for accidents caused by poor or inexistent grounding of the appliance. – If the plug provided with the appliance is incompatible with the wall outlet, have it changed by a qualified electrician.

The lengthened cable must not be allowed to hang over the edge of the table or counter: children must not be able to pull on it, and it must not be allowed to present a trip hazard. – For USA – Canada This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. Clean the blender and the accessory attachments before using them for the first time. Using a clean, damp cloth, wipe the motor unit, blender wand and blender head. Wash the accessory attachments, beaker and lid in hot water. Washing-up liquid can be used, but never abrasive cleaners. Do not immerse the motor unit in water.

Place the lid on the beaker when storing the contents in the fridge. – To improve blending or chopping performance, dice the ingredients first. – To prevent splashing, insert the wand into the mixture before operating the blender. Release the button before removing the blender from the mixture. – When blending ingredients in a saucepan on a stove, remove the pan from the burner to prevent the blender from overheating.6 BISTRO – When operating the blender, hold it at a slight angle and move it gently to and fro. Do not force the blender into the mixture. – To prevent the mixture from overflowing when blending, leave enough space in the container to allow for expansion. – Do not leave the blender in a hot pan on the stove if not using it. – To avoid damaging the accessory attachments, remove hard objects such as fruit stones from the mixture before operating the blender. – Do not process coffee beans or hard spices such as nutmegs.
