USER MANUAL KM 3921 SEVERIN

Electric spiral slicer Dear Customer, Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by those familiar with the instructions below. Important safety instructions Danger to certain categories of persons There is an increased risk of injury for children and for people with reduced Capabiities:

  • The appliance may only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, ifthey have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. + Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children. + Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. + Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children — these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. SEVERIN Risk of electric shock The device is powered by electricity, and So there is always a risk of electric shock. The following precautions are therefore to be taken:
  • Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
  • The appliance should only be connected to a socket installed in accordance with the regulations. Lack of hygiene Lack of hygiene may result in germs forming inside the appliance: + Clean the appliance thoroughly before using it for the first time, and also after each cycle of use.

  • Always ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the mains before cleaning. + For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. Danger of damage to the unit incorrect handling of the appliance can cause damage: + Always place the unit on a dry, level, non-slip surface, which is impervious to contact with the rubber feet. + Do not let the power cord hang free. + Do not kink or pinch the power cord. Keep both the cord and the appliance itself well away from heat sources (eg hot-plates, gas flames). Proper use + This appliance must only be used for making spirals from raw ingredients such as carrots, cucumber, potatoes, courgettes (zucchini), parsnips, radishes, beetroot and sweet potatoes (yams). + Caution: The appliance is not designed to process hard food items such as nuts or ice cubes.
  • Any use other than that described in these instructions must be considered improper and may lead to personal injury or material damage. + This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as - in staff kitchens in shops, offices and other similar working environments, - in agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. + Do not leave the appliance unattended while connected.
  • Caution: Any misuse can cause severe personal injury. ñ

In case of a defective appliance À defective appliance can cause material damage and injury: + Check the appliance and blade inserts for damage before every use. Do not operate if the appliance or a blade insert shows any sign of damage. In the event that you detect damage, please contact our customer service department by phone or email (see appendix). Short-time operation The appliance is designed for short-term operation only, ie. it should not be operated continuous for more than 10 minutes. Allow it to cool doun for another 30 minutes, after which it may be used again Blade inserts This appliance comes with two different blade inserts: (À) Spagheti for 5 mm spirals () Tagliatelle for 9 mm spirals To achieve optimum results, we recommend replacing the blade inserts as soon as they start producing uneven or unsighty spirals. Pull out the cord to the required length before use Operation + Caution: Please take careful note of the diagrams atthe beginning of the manual before operating the appliance. + Clean the food and cut it into pieces no longer than 15 cm. + Hint: Always cut the food in such a way that there is a flat surface to attach to the pestle food holder. + Place the container under the feeder chute -_ Fithe gear-wheel insert into the housing. + Select the desired blade insert and fi into the gear- wheel insert. + Fithe feeder chute and tum clockwise until is heard locking into place (@) + Take a prepared food item and attach its flat surface to the end of the peste (diagrams ! & 1). -_ Insert the pestle with the food into the feeder chute. Always hold the food firmly in place until it actually touches the blade insert (diagram Il). + Tum the appliance on and guide the pestle slouty dounwards, without applying firm pressure (diagram

+ Hint: Should a piece of food become separated from the pestle, switch the appliance off and disconnect it from the mains. Then take of the feeder chute, remove the detached food and re- attach it to the peste. -__ The processed food is collected inside the container. + Take out the peste and attach a new piece of food, if desired. = For technical reasons, a small piece if food wil remain on the pestle. Remove this and use it another time. + Suitch the appliance off and disconnect it from the mains. After use + The appliance should be thoroughly cleaned after each use (see Cleaning and care). Empty the container. + _ Take out the peste. + Remove the feeder chute by tuming ant-clockwise (af). Remove the blade and gear-wheel inserts.
