How to install the NK86NOV9MSR/UR hood?

GENERAL

Carefully read the following important information regarding installation safety and maintenance. Keep this information booklet accessible for further consultations. The appliance has been designed for use in the ducting version (air exhaust to the outside - Fig.1B), filtering version (air circulation on the inside - Fig.1A).

SAFETY PRECAUTION

Take care when the cooker hood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or burner that depend on the air environment and are supplied by other than electrical supply, as the cooker hood removes the air from the environment which a burner or fireplace need for combustion. The active pressure in the environment must not exceed 4Pa (1-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation in the environment safe operation of the cooker hood.

Follow the local laws applicable for external air evacuation.

Before connecting the model to the electricity network:

• control the data plate (positioned inside the appliance) to ascertain that the voltage and power correspond to the network and the socket is suitable. If in doubt ask a qualified electrician.
• If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced with another cable or a special assembly, which may be obtained direct from the manufacturer or from the Technical Assistance Centre.
• To connect the device to the power supply through a plug with a 3A fuse or to the two wires of the two-phase protected by a 3A fuse.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Assembly and electrical connections must be carried out by specialised personnel.

Electric Connection

The appliance has been manufactured as a class II, therefore no earth cable is necessary.

The connection to the mains is carried out as follows:

BROWN = L line

BLUE = N neutral

If not provided, connect a plug for the electrical load indicated on the description label. Where a plug is provided, the cooker hood must be installed in order that the plug is easily accessible. An omnipolar switch with a minimum opening of 3mm between contacts, in line with the electrical load and local standards, must be placed between the appliance and the network in the case of direct connection to the electrical network.

• The minimum distance between the support surfaces of the cooking pots on the cooker top and the lowest part of the cooker hood must be at least 45cm . If a connection tube composed of two parts is used, the upper part must be placed outside the lower part. Do not connect the cooker hood exhaust to the same conductor used to circulate hot air or for evacuating fumes from other appliances generated by other than an electrical source.

• In the case of assembly of the appliance in the suction version prepare the hole for evacuation of the air.

• We recommend the use of an air exhaust tube which has the same diameter as the air exhaust outlet hole. If a pipe with a smaller diameter is used, the efficiency of the product may be reduced and its operation may become noisier.

Attention!

• Before proceeding with the installation, to be able to move the hood more easily, complete the following operations:
• Open the front panel of the hood as in Fig. 2 - stage 1.
• Remove the anti-grease filter by pulling the handle, as shown in Fig. 2 - stage 2.

Wall mounting

Trace the bottom side of the hood on the wall. Consider the measurements shown in Fig. 3 and minimum distance from the cooking surface.

• Mark and drill the holes, following the measurements shown in Fig. 3.
• Fasten the 4 anchors A Fig. 3.

• Fasten bracket C to the wall using the 2 screws B Fig. 3.

• Make sure that the 2 levelling screws D are not tightened; Fig.4 - stage 2.a.

• Take the hood, tilt it and hook it on to the bracket as shown in Fig. 4 - stage 1.
• Once the structure has been positioned, secure it to the bracket by coupling the nut with the screw; Fig. 4 - stage 2.
• Tighten the nut with a spanner, leaving a gap of at least 3mm between the nut and the bracket as shown in Fig. 4 - stage 3. Align the appliance horizontally using the two levelling screws D Fig.5 - stage 1.
• Once the adjustment is complete, fit the hood in a permanent manner with the screws B and nuts C Fig. 5 - stage 2 and 3.
• When carrying out the fixing operations, use only screws and screw anchors suited to the type of wall (e.g. reinforced concrete, plasterboard etc.).

If the screws and screw anchors are supplied with the appliance, make sure that they are suited to the type of wall to which the hood must be fixed.

- Attention!

Before proceeding with the installation of decorative flues fit the electrical system box E.

• Lift the electrical system box; Fig. 6 - stage 1.

Position the bracket E in correspondence of the 3 screws G already arranged on the bushing and tighten them as shown in Fig. 6 - stage 2 - 3 - 4.

Make sure the electrical power supply is within the measurements of the decorative connector.

Adjust the width of the support bracket of the top connector (Fig. 7).

Then fix it to the ceiling so that it is on the same axis as the hood using screws A and observing the distance from the ceiling shown in (Fig. 7). Connect flange F to the air exhaust hole using flexible hose L (Fig.8).

Take care not to scratch the duct; wear gloves when removing the protective film. (Fig. 9)

Slide the top connector inside the lower duct and place this on the body (Fig. 10).

Pull out the top duct as far as the bracket and secure it using screws B (Fig. 7).

To transform the hood from a ducting version into a filtering version, ask your dealer for the charcoal filters and follow the installation instructions.

- Filtering version:

Install the hood and the two flues as described in the paragraph for installation of the hood in ducting version. To assemble the filtering flue refer to the instructions contained in the kit. If the kit is not provided, order it from your dealer as accessory. The filters must be applied to the suction unit positioned inside the hood. They must be centred by turning them 90 degrees until the stop catch is tripped (Fig. 2-stage 3).

USE AND MAINTENANCE

• We recommend that the cooker hood is switched on before any food is cooked. We also recommend that the appliance is left running for 15 minutes after the food is cooked, in order to thoroughly eliminate all contaminated air.
  The effective performance of the cooker hood depends on constant maintenance; the anti-grease filter and the active carbon filter (Fig. 2 - stage 3) both require special attention.
• The anti-grease filter is used to trap any grease particles

suspended in the air, therefore is subject to saturation (the time it takes for the filter to become saturated depends on the way in which the appliance is used).

• To prevent potential fire hazards, the anti-grease filters should be washed a minimum of every 2 months (it is possible to use the dishwasher for this task).
• After a few washes, the colour of the filters may change. This does not mean they have to be replaced.
  If the replacement and washing instructions are not followed, the anti-grease filters may present a fire hazard.
• The active carbon filters are used to purify the air which is released back into the room. The filters are not washable or re-usable and must be replaced at least once every four months. The active carbon filter saturation level depends on the frequency with which the appliance is used, the type of cooking performed and the regularity with which the anti-grease filters are cleaned.
• Clean the cooker hood frequently, both inside and outside, using a cloth which has been dampened with non-abrasive liquid detergents.
• The light on the cooker hood is designed for use during cooking and not for general room illumination. Extended use of the light reduces the average duration of LED lamp.

- Replacing LED lamps (Fig.11).

If the appliance version is with LED lamps, the intervention of a specialised technician is necessary to replace them.

- Commands (Fig.12):

• To activate the functions put your hand in front of the sensor at a distance of no more than 8 cm.

Sensor:

1-Indicated LED lamp = This lamp is will light on or off when IRed sensor is detected.
2 - IRed sensor = This sensor emits infrared light when an electric current passes through it.
3 - Photo transistor = This sensor receives the reflected infrared signal.

Sensor A = Activate the "ON/OFF" function or the "Cleaning mode" function.

-ON/OFF

Activates or switches off all functions.

• To activate it place your hand in front of the sensor.

• When the LED switches on the hood functions are ready to be activated.

Attention! If one interrupts hood operation with the relevant sensor and one does not activate any other function within 10 minutes, the hood switches OFF automatically. Therefore, if you wish to restart the hood again, you must place your hand in front of the sensor A (on/off).

• To disable the function repeat the operation.

- Cleaning Mode

Blocks all functions to prevent switching the product on accidentally during cleaning operations where are in front of the hood.

• To activate it put your hand in front of the sensor for approximately 4 seconds.
• When the LED lights up followed by a multiple sound signal the function is active.
• To deactivate the function repeat the operation.

Sensor B = Activates the "TIMER" function or the "CLEAN AIR" function.

-Timer

With any speed engaged (excluding Booster speed), by activating sensor B, the Timer function is activated.

• The LED relating to sensor B stays on followed by a sound signal, this means that the function is active.
• After 15 minutes, at the end of the count, the hood switches off (motor and any lights switched on).
• If one wishes to deactivate the function before the 15 minutes are up, activate sensors A or B.

- Clean Air

This function starts the motor for 10 minutes every hour at the first speed for proper air recirculation in the room.

• It is activated by putting your hand in front of sensor B, the corresponding LED switches on followed by a sound signal, this means that the function is active.
• the motor switches on for 10 minutes every hour at first speed during which the LED relating to sensor B and C stays fixed on.

In the remaining 50 minutes, with the motor not running, all LEDs are switched off.

• If one wishes to deactivate the function activate sensors A or B.

Attention: with the "clean air" function all functions are deactivated except for the LIGHTS and OFF sensor.

Sensor C = FIRST SPEED.

The motor starts at the first speed and is activated by putting your hand in front of sensor C.
- The function is active with low extraction when the LED relating to the sensor switches on followed by a sound signal.

Sensor D = SECOND SPEED.

The motor starts at the second speed and is activated by putting your hand in front of sensor D.

• The function is active with middle extraction when the LED
  relating to the sensor switches on followed by a sound signal.

Sensor E = THIRD SPEED.

The motor starts at the third speed and is activated by putting your hand in front of sensor E.

• The function is active with high extraction when the LED relating to the sensor switches on followed by a sound signal.

Sensor F = BOOSTER SPEED.

With the motor running at any set speed, by activating sensor F one engages the BOOSTER speed (4th speed) for 10 minutes

• The function is active when the LED relating to the sensor switches on followed by a sound signal.
  -With the function active the LED stays fixed on while the LED of the previously set speed switches off.
• After 10 minutes the hood sets itself at the third speed.
• If one wishes to deactivate the function before the 10 minutes are up, use sensors A or F.

The BOOSTER speed can be activated even with the hood switched off.

Sensor G = Switches the LIGHT on and off and indicates FILTER SATURATION.

-Lights

To switch the lights on, put your hand in front of sensor G..

• Anti-grease/active carbon filters saturation:

After 30 hours of operation the LED relating to sensor G starts to flash with a frequency of 2 seconds, this means that one must wash the anti-grease filters.

After 120 hours of operation the LED relating to sensor G

starts to flash with a frequency of 1 second, this means that one must wash or replace the active carbon filters.

Once the clean filter has been put back in place you must reset the electronic memory by putting your hand in front of sensor G and the 30h/120h setting restarts from zero.
