Safety precautions Information for parents Please read the user guide and safety precautions carefully before use. Explain the content to your children and the hazards associated with using the Bluetooth Headset. Remember to comply with legal requirements and local restrictions when using the Bluetooth Headset in aeroplanes, petrol stations, hospitals or while driving, for example. Mobile phones can interfere with the functioning of medical devices such as hearing aids or pacemakers. Keep a distance of at least 20cm/9 inches between the Bluetooth Headset and pacemaker. Wear the Bluetooth Headset on the ear further away from a heart pacemaker during a call. For more information consult your doctor. It is possible to remove the earpiece. Caution! Small parts like this could be swallowed by young children. The main voltage (V) specified on the power supply unit must not be exceeded. Otherwise the charging unit may be destroyed. Do not throw the device into an open fire. Use only original charging units. Otherwise you risk serious damage to health and property as the battery could explode, for instance. The Bluetooth Headset must only be opened by authorised service partners. The rechargeable battery may be replaced by Service only. Any changes to this device are strictly prohibited and will invalidate the operating licence. Permanent hearing loss may occur if you use ear- or headphones at high volume.You can adapt over time to a higher volume, which may sound normal but can be damaging to your hearing. Set your volume to a safe level. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use of your system. 1. Pull the ear hook backwards
2. Turn the ear hook and
carefully insert it on the other side:
- for the left ear: Headset is fully charged. Empty battery. Registering. Successfully registered. Headset is ready for use. Incoming and outgoing call. Repeatedly flashes 2x rapidly Repeatedly Call in progress. flashes 2x slowly Off Headset is switched off.
- for the right ear: Adjusting the headset The Headset comes with two ear hooks for different ear sizes. Select the right one for your ear. You can reverse the ear hook so that you can wear the headset on the left or right ear.
The earpiece can be rotated for a perfect fit.
Wearing the headset correctly Wear the Bluetooth® Headset as shown in the diagram. The microphone opening must always point towards your mouth. Bend the ear hook carefully to adjust it to your ear. Ensure that part of the projecting end of the rubber earpiece sticks into your ear canal. Bluetooth is a short-range radio link. It enables wireless communication between various terminals equipped with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth Headset will only work in conjunction with a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone capable of supporting the headset profile. The handsfree profile is preferred for this purpose. Please read the notes on Bluetooth links in your mobile phone manual as the controls and display messages differ between phones. Every Bluetooth device has a unique address and name. This ensures that it only communicates with the selected communication partners. The security concept uses a password which the devices exchange the first time they register (p. 8). What is Bluetooth? The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth® SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by BenQ Corp. is under license. Other trademarks and trade names are those of their respective owners. Setting up the headset Before you can use your Bluetooth headset, you need to:
- charge the headset and
- register the headset with the mobile phone. Charging the Bluetooth headset The battery supplied has not been fully charged. To charge the headset, you will need the charging unit included in the delivery. Please note that the mains power socket must be nearby and easily accessible. You can also charge the Headset with a Travel Charger ETC-500/510* or Car Charger Plus ECC-600* using the charging adapter ECA-500*. *: These products are offered as original accessories.
1. Insert the charging unit

into the socket. Charge time A flat battery takes about two and a half hours to fully charge. Display during charging The LED is red during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the LED turns off. Only charge the battery at a temperature of 0 °C to 45 °C. Otherwise, it will wear out prematurely. Please note that batteries generally wear out over time. Switching on the Bluetooth Headset Press the ptt button for 3 seconds. The LED flashes rapidly for 1 second, then it flashes more slowly. A low and a high tone can be heard. Switching off the Bluetooth Headset
Press the ptt button for 3 seconds. The LED lights up steadily for 1 second and then goes out. A high and a low tone can be heard.
Registering the headset with a mobile phone The headset must be switched off.
1. Press the ptt button for at
least 6 seconds. The LED lights up steadily, and two high tones can be heard. Your mobile phone can now "look for" the Bluetooth Headset.
2. Activate search mode on your
mobile phone. Please read the notes in your mobile phone manual.
3. If your mobile phone finds
your headset, this is shown on the mobile telephone display beneath the device name HHB-700. If your mobile phone does not find the headset within 3 minutes, activate search mode again (repeat step 1).
4. If requested, enter the
password (PIN) for the headset into your mobile phone: The Bluetooth Headset is now registered to your mobile phone. Making a phone call You can only make calls with the headset if the headset is switched on (see on left) and if the headset is registered with a mobile phone (p. 8). The procedure described below only applies to Siemens mobile phones. It may be different for other manufacturers’ mobiles. The following symbols are used to explain how to operate the headset: b This function varies from service provider to service provider. You may need to register separately for this service.
- You will know the call is about to drop if the signal quality is poor.
- If the mobile phone is not connected to the network, you will hear a recurring beep tone in the headset.
- If the Bluetooth connection to the mobile phone is interrupted for several seconds during a call, you can only continue the call with the mobile phone. Voice dialling You can dial a number by saying the name aloud. A voice recording of the name must be stored with the number in the Addressbook in the mobile phone. Please read the manual for your mobile phone. This function is not offered by all mobile phones.

If the name is recognised, the mobile phone dials the telephone number. If the name is not recognised, press the ptt button again and repeat the name.
Dialling using the mobile phone

make the call via the headset. Ending a call Press and hold the ptt button. The call is ended. The headset remains ready for use. Setting the volume The two keys [ and \ adjust the volume. The volume setting on the headset does not affect the volume setting on the mobile phone. Answering a call Press the ptt button briefly. Hold call Briefly press the ptt button twice. To continue the call, briefly press the ptt button twice again.
Call waiting/toggling between calls
Call waiting If someone calls you while you are already in a call, you will hear a 'call waiting tone'. Briefly press the ptt button in order to accept the new call. The current call is put on hold. You have the following options: Toggling Briefly press the ptt button twice in order to toggle the calls. Rejecting the current call Press and hold the ptt key. The active call is ended. The second call is accepted. Picking up a call Press the ptt key briefly: The active call is accepted by the Headset. For additional information please consult your mobile phone's user guide. - Clean the headset with a damp cloth or anti-static cloth. Do not use any chemicals.
