Noise/Vibration data
Values determined in accordance with EN 60745. The sound pressure level (A-weighted) of the device is typically 96 dB (A). Uncertainty K = 3 dB. The sound level while working can exceed 109 dB (A).

Wear ear protection!
Total vibration (vector sum of three directions) is calculated in accordance with EN 60745:
Drilling in metal:
Vibration emission value a_h,D = 3,2m / s^2
Uncertainty K = 1,5m / s^2
Hammer-action drilling in concrete:
Vibration emission value a_h,1D = 19,313m / s^2
Uncertainty K = 1,5m / s^2

Warning! The vibration level given in these instructions has been measured in accordance with a standardised
measurement procedure specified in EN 60745 and can be used to compare devices. Different uses of the device give rise to different vibration levels and in many cases they may exceed the values given in these instructions. It is easy to underestimate the vibration load if the electrical power tool is used regularly in particular circumstances.

Safety advice relating specifically to this device

Keep children away from the device. Store the device indoors in an enclosed, dry place where it cannot
be reached by children.

To avoid danger to life from electric shock:

Frequently check the condition of the device, mains lead and plug. Do not use the device if these kinds of parts
are damaged. Never open up the device. Always have any repairs carried out or replacement parts fitted at the service centre or by an electrical equipment repair specialist. A damaged device, mains lead or plug presents a serious danger to life from electric shock.
Have repairs carried out only by an electrician or your service centre.
- Do not touch the mains lead if it becomes damaged or cut through while you are using the device. Pull the plug out of the mains socket immediately and have the device repaired by a suitably qualified person or at your service centre.

Do not operate the device if it is damp and do not use it in a damp environment.
If you use the device outdoors, always connect it through a residual current device (RCD) with a maximum trip current of 30mA . If using an extension lead, always use one that is approved for outdoor use.
Do not use the device in rain or in wet conditions.
- Do not work in areas where there may be hidden electricity cables or gas or water pipes. Use a suitable detector or ask your local utility service providers. Contact with electricity cables can lead to fire or electric shock. Damaging a gas pipe can lead to an explosion. Penetration
of a water pipe can lead to property damage or to electric shock.

Attention! To avoid the risk of injury:
Wear protective glasses, hearing protection (noise can lead to hearing loss), dust protection mask and protective gloves. Please note that working on stone or metal can give rise to hazardous dusts that can adversely affect your health.
Be particularly careful when screwing in longer screws - the driver could slip off the screw head.
Use the auxiliary handle supplied with the device. Loss of control of the tool can lead to injury.
- Securely support the workpiece. Use clamps or a vice to grip the workpiece firmly. This is much safer than holding it in your hand and it means you then have both hands free to operate the electrical power tool.

Working safely!
If a dangerous situation arises, pull the mains plug immediately out of the mains socket.
- Never use the device for a purpose for which it was not intended.
Before you insert the mains plug into the socket, always check that the device is switched off.
Always keep proper footing and balance.
- When taking a break from your work, before carrying out any tasks on the device itself and when you are not using the device, always pull the mains plug out of the mains socket.
- Handle the device carefully and treat it with respect. Always keep the device clean, dry and free of oil or grease.
Remain alert at all times! Always watch what you are doing and proceed with caution.
Do not use the device if you cannot concentrate or you are feeling unwell.
Preparing for first use
Attaching the auxiliary handle
For reasons of safety, this device must be used only with the auxiliary handle 8 in place and properly attached.
It is essential that you note the following:
if the drill becomes jammed, a very large torque can be generated (the force that the machine will exert to rotate about its own shaft).
- Attach the auxiliary handle 8 to the spindle collar and fix in place by tightening the wing screw. Attach the depth stop 10. This will help you to drill to the exact depth required.
Inserting a tool into the chuck
Caution! Before starting any tasks on the hammer drill, make sure that it is switched off and the mains plug is out of the socket.
The RÖHM quick-release drill chuck allows you to exchange drills or other tools without using a special key etc.
Opening the chuck and inserting a tool
Hold the rear shell of the quick-release chuck and turn the front shell until the tool (e.g. a roundshanked drill) can be inserted. Insert the tool.
Tightening the chuck on to the tool
Hold the rear shell of the quick-release chuck and turn the front shell sharply until you hear a „click - clack, clack, clack" sound (refer to Figure A). The chuck is now locked. To release the lock again, just turn the front shell in the opposite direction.
Using the tool as a driver
You will require a suitable bit holder if you wish to use screwdriver bits with the drill. The screwdriver bits used must be match the screw head. Set the switch [1] a to the drill symbol.
Operation
Figures B-H show the various possible applications and uses.
Examples of applications and uses. Drill bits not included.
The mains voltage at the mains socket must match that shown on the rating plate on the device.
Devices marked with 230V can also be operated at 220V .
Switching on and off
Switch on intermittent operation mode:
Press the On/Off switch 3
Switch off intermittent operation mode:
Release the On/Off switch 3
Switch on constant operation mode:
Press the On/Off switch 3, and keep it pressed, then press the locking button 4.
Switch off constant operation mode:
Press the On/Off switch 3 and release it.
Infinitely adjustable speed setting
To produce a slow speed, just press lightly on the On/Off switch 3. This allows you to start up your operations smoothly and in a controlled manner. If you increase the pressure on the On/Off switch 3, the speed will also increase.
Preselecting the rotation speed
You can preselect the required speed using the speed preselector wheel 5.
You can increase or decrease the speed by turning the speed preselector wheel. The most suitable speed depends on the material involved. We recommend that you carry out a few practical tests beforehand.
Tip: You will always find these two basic guidelines helpful:
- Large drill diameter = lower speed whilst smaller drill diameter = higher speed
- Hard material = lower speed
Selecting the direction of rotation
Caution! Only change the position of the rotation direction switch after the tool has come to a standstill.
Set the direction you wish the drill to rotate by using the rotation direction switch 6.
Note: The tool operates at lower speeds when rotating in the counter clockwise direction.
Selecting the gear
Caution! The gear selector switch must only be moved after the drill has come to a standstill.
Select between the following speed ranges using the gear selector switch 7:
l = low speed range
2 = high speed range
Selecting drill / hammer drill action
Caution! Only change the setting of the drill/ hammer drill action switch after the tool has come to a standstill.
- Select the appropriate operating mode using the drill/hammer action selector switch 1:
Drilling:
Set the switch 1 to the right on to the drill symbol.
Hammer drilling:
Set the switch 1 to the left on to the hammer symbol.
Note: The hammer drill action mode is intended for drilling into brick, concrete and stone only.
Maintenance and cleaning
Attention! Before carrying out any tasks on the device itself and when you are not using the device, always pull the mains plug out of the mains socket.
The device is largely maintenance-free.
Always keep the device and the ventilation slots clean.
Clean the device frequently. For best results, clean the device immediately after you have finished using it.
Do not allow any liquids to enter the device. Use a soft cloth to clean the device.
Do not under any circumstances use petrol or strong solvents.
Store the device in a dry room.
Disposal

The packaging is wholly composed of environmentally-friendly materials that can be disposed of at a local recycling
centre.

Do not dispose of electrical tools with household rubbish!
In accordance with European Directive 2002/96/EC (covering waste electrical and electronic equipment) and its transposition into national legislation, worn out electrical tools must be collected separately and taken for environmentally compatible recycling. Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details of how to dispose of your worn out electrical devices.
