How to install the Gorenje DF6115W extractor hood?

Installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. Make sure the hood is installed at a height of 65-75 cm above an electric hob and 75-85 cm for a gas hob. Follow the diagrams in the manual.

How to clean the grease filters?

The grease filters are dishwasher safe up to 65°C, or can be washed by hand with warm soapy water. Dry them well before reinstalling. Clean them about once a month.

Is a charcoal filter needed for recirculation?

Yes, if you use the hood in recirculation mode (without external evacuation), a charcoal filter is required. It is placed behind the grease filters and must be replaced every 3 to 6 months.

How to change the LED bulb?

The LED lighting is integrated and not user-replaceable. If the bulb is defective, contact Gorenje after-sales service for assistance.

What to do if the hood does not turn on?

First check the power supply and the circuit breaker. Make sure the plug is properly inserted. If the problem persists, inspect the fuses or call a technician.

How to adjust the suction speed?

Use the push buttons on the control panel: press the Speed 1, 2 or 3 button to increase the power. Speed 3 is the highest for strong odors.

The motor makes noise, is this normal?

A slight noise is normal. If the noise becomes excessive, check that the hood is properly secured and that the filters are clean. A clogged filter can increase the noise level.

Can the hood be used without external extraction?

Yes, it can operate in recirculation mode with a charcoal filter. In this case, the air is filtered and returned to the room. Remember to change the filter regularly.

EN - Instruction on mounting and use

Closely follow the instructions set out in this manual. All responsibility, for any eventual inconveniences, damages or fires caused by not complying with the instructions in this manual, is declined.

The hood can look different to that illustrated in the drawings in this booklet. The instructions for use, maintenance and installation, however, remain the same.

Note: the elements marked with the symbol “(*)” are optional accessories supplied only with some models or elements to purchase, not supplied.

Caution

WARNING! Do not connect the appliance to the mains until the installation is fully complete.

Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect hood from the mains by removing the plug or disconnecting the mains electrical supply.

Always wear work gloves for all installation and maintenance operations.

The appliance is not intended for use by children or persons with impaired physical, sensorial or mental faculties, or if lacking in experience or knowledge, unless they are under supervision or have been trained in the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Never use the hood without effectively mounted grating!

The hood must NEVER be used as a support surface unless specifically indicated.

The premises where the appliance is installed must be sufficiently ventilated, when the kitchen hood is used together with other gas combustion devices or other fuels.

The ducting system for this appliance must not be connected to any existing ventilation system which is being used for any other purpose such as discharging exhaust fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels.

The flaming of foods beneath the hood itself is severely prohibited.

The use of exposed flames is detrimental to the filters and may cause a fire risk, and must therefore be avoided in all circumstances.

Any frying must be done with care in order to make sure that the oil does not overheat and ignite.

Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

With regards to the technical and safety measures to be adopted for fume discharging it is important to closely follow the regulations provided by the authorised authorities.

The hood must be regularly cleaned on both the inside and outside (AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH).

This must be completed in accordance with the maintenance instructions provided in this manual). Failure to follow the instructions provided in this user guide regarding the cleaning of the hood and filters will lead to the risk of fires.

Do not use or leave the hood without the lamp correctly mounted due to the possible risk of electric shocks.

We will not accept any responsibility for any faults, damage or fires caused to the appliance as a result of the non-observance of the instructions included in this manual.

By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health, which could otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product.

Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

Ducting version

The hood is equipped with a top air outlet B for discharge of fumes to the outside (exhaust pipe and pipe fixing clamps not provided). Fig. 2

Attention! If the hood is supplied with carbon filter, then it must be removed.

Filter version

When there is no exhaust duct for venting outdoors, you can use a carbon filter.

The air is depurated by the filter and put again in the surrounding. To use the appliance in this version, proceeded as follows:

The air is vented outdoors by a duct, passing through the wall units and connected to the connecting ring.

2 charcoal filters are required for cooker hoods with 2 motors and 1 charcoal for cooker hoods with 1 motor.

Attention! If the hood is not supplied with carbon filter, then it must be ordered and mounted.

The models with no suction motor only operate in ducting mode, and must be connected to an external suction device (not supplied).

The connecting instructions are supplied with the peripheral suction unit.

Installation

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 60cm from electric cookers and 70cm from gas or mixed cookers.

If the instructions for installation for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

Electrical connection

The mains power supply must correspond to the rating indicated on the plate situated inside the hood. If provided with a plug connect the hood to a socket in compliance with current regulations and positioned in an accessible area. If it not fitted with a plug (direct mains connection) or if the plug is not located in an accessible area apply a double pole switch in accordance with standards which assures the complete disconnection of the mains under conditions relating to over-current category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

Warning! Before re-connecting the hood circuit to the mains supply and checking the efficient function, always check that the mains cable is correctly assembled.

Mounting

Before beginning installation:

• Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area.
• To facilitate installation, remove the fat filters and the other parts allowed and described here, dismantle and mount it.
  To remove see also the relative paragraphs.

- Remove the active carbon (*) filter/s if supplied (see also relative paragraph). This/these is/are to be mounted only if you want to use the hood in the filtering version.

- Check (for transport reasons) that there is no other supplied material inside the hood (e.g. packets with screws (*), guarantees (*), etc.), eventually removing them and keeping them.

- If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in range from cabinet opening to provide easier access to rear wall/ceiling. Otherwise put a thick, protective covering over countertop, cooktop or range to protect from damage and debris. Select a flat surface for assembling the unit. Cover that surface with a protective covering and place all canopy hood parts and hardware in it.

- In addition check whether near the installation area of the hood (in the area accessible also with the hood mounted) an electric socket is available and it is possible to connect a fumes discharge device to the outside (only suction version).

- Carry out all the masonry work necessary (e.g. installation of an electric socket and/or a hole for the passage of the discharge tube).

Preliminary information for installation of the hood:

Attention! The 2 fixing brackets are lodged in the protection in polyester packing

The brackets are one right R and one left L (see bossing shown on the brackets).

1. Fix the D bracket (Fig.1) to the side panel of the wall unit with two screws for every bracket (the right R bracket on the right side and the left L bracket on the left side). Align the bracket with the lower border.

Position the bracket to touch the back border of the wall cabinet, considering that the back border of the bracket corresponds to the back side of the cooker hood;

If the cooker hood is provided with a spacer, in case of use, move the bracket forward to the same thickness as the spacer.

Drill a hole on the ceiling of the wall cabinet to pass the discharge tube and the electrical cable (the quote indicated in Fig. 1 does not include the eventual spacer).

1. If not already mounted, fix the two E brackets (Fig.2) to the sides of the hood (one per side).

a. remove the extractable part of the cooker hood;

b. remove the grease filter/s;

c. fix the brackets with two screws P per bracket from inside the cooker hood, affix them as more as possible upwards (air exit side) and then serrate the screws.

1. Affix the spacer M with three Clips from the external part of the cooker hood (if supplied - Fig. 2).

2. Insert the cooker hood in the wall cabinet, ensuring to position the cooker hood bracket E above the wall cabinet bracket D (Fig. 3).

Thread the electric cable through the appropriate perforation.

1. Block the cooker hood with two screws on the frontal part (Fig. 3 – one per side).

2. Connect the cable to the electrical mains, only when the installation is completed.

3. If the cooker hood should not touch perfectly with the lower border of the wall cabinet then regulate by loosening the screws P of the brackets E mounted on the cooker hood (Fig. 2), it will be possible to regulate the perfect matching of the cooker hood and wall cabinet, once regulated tighten the screws.

4. Regulate the gliding of the extractable drawer in relation to the depth of the wall cabinet by acting on the two skirting boards F (Fig. 4).

In this way it will be possible to place the front in line with the wall cabinet (Fig. 4).

a. Loosen the screws on the skirting board F; b. Move the ledges backwards or forwards depending on requirement.

c. Lock in the screws on the ledges.

1. Install a discharge tube on the connection ring C supplied, preferably with a diameter equivalent to the connection ring (Fig. 5). the discharge tube should be sufficiently long to reach outside (Suction version) or the ceiling of the wall cabinet (Filter version).

2. Fix the connection ring C (snap into place), at the upper exit of the cooker hood.

To ease the installation, the ring is equipped with an index G that should correspond to the appropriate guide H placed on the upper air exit.

1. Complete the installation of the discharge tube.
2. Open the extractable drawer (Fig.6) and apply the aesthetic Q mask (if supplied) with two screws from the inside of the hood (Fig. 7).
3. Re-install the grease filters, connect the cooker hood to the electrical mains and check the perfect operation.

Operation

The hood is fitted with a control panel with aspiration speed selection control and a light switch to control cooking area lights.

Use the high suction speed in cases of concentrated kitchen vapours. It is recommended that the cooker hood suction is switched on for 5 minutes prior to cooking and to leave in operation during cooking and for another 15 minutes approximately after terminating cooking.

Maintenance

ATTENTION! Before performing any maintenance operation, isolate the hood from the electrical supply by switching off at the connector and removing the connector fuse.

Or if the appliance has been connected through a plug and socket, then the plug must be removed from the socket.

Cleaning

The cooker hood should be cleaned regularly (at least with the same frequency with which you carry out maintenance of the fat filters) internally and externally. Clean using the cloth dampened with neutral liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive products. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!

WARNING: Failure to carry out the basic cleaning recommendations of the cooker hood and replacement of the filters may cause fire risks.

Therefore, we recommend oserving these instructions.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility for any damage to the motor or any fire damage linked to inappropriate maintenance or failure to observe the above safety recommendations.

Cleaning the glass vapour screen (available only in some models)

The glass be dismounted and cleaned using a normal glass detergent.

Instructions for removing the glass:

1. Remove the grease filter.
2. Lightly push the glass downwards and allow it slide forwards.
3. Remove the glass allowing it to rotate slightly.

After cleaning, follow the instructions in reverse to remount the glass.

Grease filter

This must be cleaned once a month using non aggressive detergents, either by hand or in the dishwasher, which must be set to a low temperature and a short cycle. When washed in a dishwasher, the grease filter may discolour slightly, but this does not affect its filtering capacity.

To remove the grease filter, pull the spring release handle.

Charcoal filter (filter version only)

It absorbs unpleasant odours caused by cooking.

2 charcoal filters are required for cooker hoods with 2 motors and 1 charcoal for cooker hoods with 1 motor.

The saturation of the activated charcoal occurs after more or less prolonged use, depending on the type of cooking and the regularity of cleaning of the grease filter.

In any case it is necessary to replace the cartridge at least every four months.

The carbon filter may NOT be washed or regenerated.

Place the carbon filter in order to cover the protection grill for the motor fan wheel, then turn the central handle P of the filter clockwise.

To dismount the central handle P of the filter turn the handle anti-clockwise.

Replacing lamps

Disconnect the hood from the electricity.

Warning! Prior to touching the light bulbs ensure they are cooled down.

Access the lamp housing area:

remove the lamp holder using a small screwdriver or similar tool as a lever.

Replace the damaged light bulb.

According to the model you have:

Use plain candle lamps 40W max (E14) or halogen lamps 20W max (G4 12V)

Then close the lamp housing (snap lock).

If the lights do not work, make sure that the lamps are fitted properly into their housings before you call for technical assistance.
