Do I need to unlock the trigger of the BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI stapler after charging the battery?
Frequently Asked Questions - 06/07/2026
Response Notice-Facile

No, it is not necessary to unlock the trigger after charging the battery. The BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI stapler is ready to use as soon as the battery is inserted and fully charged (solid green light).

Here is the correct usage procedure:

  • Insert the charged battery into the device
  • Place the nose of the stapler firmly against the surface to be stapled

Respond (be the first)
Does the indicator light turn off after unplugging the charger, is this normal?
Frequently Asked Questions - 06/07/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Yes, this is completely normal. The indicator light on the BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI charger turns off automatically after unplugging because it is powered only when the charger is connected to a power outlet. This indicator (also called the charge status light of the battery) operates exclusively during the charging process or when using the tool with the battery.

Here is the normal and expected behavior of the indicator light:

  • Flashing green: the battery is charging (connected to the charger and charger plugged in)
  • Solid green: the battery is fully charged (charging complete)
  • Flashing red: during tool use, this indicates that the battery capacity is below 30% and a recharge is needed

The 3.6 V (1.3 Ah) Lithium-ion battery of your PTK 3.6 LI stapler is protected by the Electronic Cell Protection (ECP) system which prevents deep discharge. For optimal operation, the first charge should last at least 3 to 5 hours. The battery can be recharged at any time without damage.

Once the charger is unplugged, the absence of illumination is normal and poses no issue. If your stapler operates correctly and the indicator flashes green during a new charge, this confirms that the charger and battery are functioning perfectly.

Tip: unplug the charger when not in use for an extended period to preserve its longevity.

Respond (be the first)
After 5 hours of charging, the indicator light does not turn solid green: what should I do?
Frequently Asked Questions - 06/07/2026
Response Notice-Facile

According to the specifications of the BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI, after a normal charge of 3 to 5 hours, the indicator light should display a solid green to indicate that the lithium-ion battery (3.6 V, 1.3 Ah) is fully charged.

If the indicator remains blinking green after 5 hours or does not show solid green, check:

  • The charger connection: Ensure that the battery is properly inserted into the charger and that the charger is correctly plugged into the mains.
  • The condition of the contacts: Clean the contacts of the battery and charger (no dirt or oxidation).
  • Extended charging: Wait an additional 6-7 hours. A new battery sometimes requires a longer charging cycle on first use.
  • Red indicator: If you see a red light on, it means the capacity is below 30%. In this case, perform a full charge from zero.

Important point: A new battery reaches its full capacity after about 5 charge-discharge cycles. If the problem persists after a full charge and rest, contact BOSCH technical service, as the charger or battery may be defective.

Respond (be the first)
How long does it take to charge the battery of the BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI stapler for the first time?
Frequently Asked Questions - 05/31/2026
Response Notice-Facile

For the first use of the BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI stapler, the Lithium-ion battery must be fully charged for at least 3 to 5 hours before initial use.

Here’s how to recognize the charge status:

  • Flashing red light: the battery is charging
  • Solid green light: the battery is fully charged and ready for use

Important: the battery arrives partially charged from the factory. You can recharge the battery at any time without reducing its lifespan, thanks to Lithium-ion technology. The tool also features built-in electronic protection (ECP) that automatically stops it in case of deep discharge.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING

Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result

in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI - Work area safety - 1

  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger

BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI - Personal safety - 1

BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI - Personal safety - 2

BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI - Personal safety - 3

on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

Power tool use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
  • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

BOSCH PTK 3.6 LI - Power tool use and care - 3

  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

Battery tool use and care

Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

Service

Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Safety Warnings for Cordless Tackers

Always assume that the tool contains fasteners. Careless handling of the tacker can result in unexpected firing of fasteners and personal injury. Do not point the tool towards yourself or anyone nearby. Unexpected triggering will discharge the fastener causing an injury. Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed firmly against the workpiece. If the tool is not in contact with the workpiece, the fastener may be deflected away from your target. Disconnect the tool from the power source when the fastener jams in the tool. While removing a jammed fastener, the tacker may be accidentally activated if it is plugged in.

Assembly

Battery Charging (see figure A)

The battery is supplied partially charged.

To ensure full battery capacity, completely charge the battery (at least 3-5 hours) before using for the first time.

The Lithium-lon battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not damage the battery.

The "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)" protects the lithium ion battery against deep discharging. When the battery is discharged, the power tool is switched off by a protective circuit.

WARNING

After the automatic shut-off of the power tool, do not continue to press the trigger. The battery could

become damaged.

A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full capacity until after approx. 5 charging/discharging cycles.

When the battery charge-control indicator 2 lights up red during operation, the battery capacity is below 30% and the battery should be charged.

  • Plug the mains plug of the battery charger into a socket outlet and the charger plug 8 into the socket 4 on the rear side of the handle.

The battery charge-control indicator 2 indicates the charging progress. The indicator flashes green during the charge procedure. The battery is completely charged when the indicator lights up green continuously.

Operation

Starting Operation

Switching On and Off

  • At first, firmly place the tacker head 1 against the workpiece until it is pushed in a few millimeters. Afterwards, briefly press the trigger 5 and then release again.

The trigger lock, which is connected with the movable tacker head 1, prevents unintentional shot actuation when the trigger 5 is inadvertently pressed.

Working Advice

  • This machine is not suitable for working with 19 mm staples. Therefore, do not use the machine to fasten ceiling panelling with profiled wood or grooves.
  • When the staple is jammed in the machine, do not hold the machine by the trigger. When removing a jammed staple, the trigger can be inadvertently actuated.

Avoid blank shots in order to reduce the wear of the impact striker.

Carefully apply the tacker head 1 to the material being tacked. Soft workpieces (e.g., pinewood) can become damaged by applying too much pressure.

Battery charging (see figure A)

The battery is supplied partially charged.

To ensure full battery capacity, charge the battery (for at least 3-5 hours) before first use.

The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery.

The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharging by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery is empty, the power tool is switched off by means of a protective circuit.

CAUTION

Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the tool has been automatically switched off. The battery may be damaged.

A new battery or one that has not been used for a long period of time reaches its full capacity after approximately 5 charging/discharging cycles.

If during operation the charge indicator 2 lights up red, the battery capacity is less than 30% and the battery should be charged.

  • Charge the battery with the charger supplied. The charging time is approximately 1 hour.

The battery charge indicator 2 shows the charging progress. During charging, the indicator lights up green. When the indicator lights up green continuously, the battery is fully charged.
