Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. f Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. f If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. Power tool use and care f Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. f Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. f Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. f Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. Battery tool use and care f Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. f Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. f When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. f Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. Service f Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Safety Warnings for Cordless Tackers f Always assume that the tool contains fasteners. Careless handling of the tacker can result in unexpected firing of fasteners and personal injury. f Do not point the tool towards yourself or anyone nearby. Unexpected triggering will discharge the fastener causing an injury. f Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed firmly against the workpiece. If the tool is not in contact with the workpiece, the fastener may be deflected away from your target. f Disconnect the tool from the power source when the fastener jams in the tool. While removing a jammed fastener, the tacker may be accidentally activated if it is plugged in. The mechanism may be under compression and the fastener may be forcefully discharged while attempting to free a jammed condition. f Do not use this tacker for fastening electrical cables. It is not designed for electric cable installation and may damage the insulation of electric cables thereby causing electric shock or fire hazards. f Use appropriate detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work area or call the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage. f Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand. Protect the power tool against heat, e. g., against continuous intense sunlight, fire, water, and moisture. Danger of explosion. f In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Provide for fresh air and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system. Safety Warnings for Battery Chargers Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture. Penetration of water in the battery charger increases the risk of an electric shock. f Only charge Bosch lithium ion batteries or batteries installed in Bosch products with the voltages listed in the technical data. Otherwise there is danger of fire and explosion. f Keep the battery charger clean. Contamination can lead to danger of an electric shock. f Before each use, check the battery charger, cable and plug. If damage is detected, do not use the battery charger. Never open the battery charger yourself. Have repairs performed only by a qualified technician and only using original spare parts. Damaged battery chargers, cables and plugs increase the risk of an electric shock. f Supervise children. Otherwise, there is danger of operating errors and injuries. Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted with a BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal fuse (ASTA approved to BS 1362). If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place by an authorised customer service agent. The replacement plug should have the same fuse rating as the original plug. The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible shock hazard and should never be inserted into a mains socket elsewhere. Typically the A-weighted sound pressure level of the product is 76 dB(A). Uncertainty K=3 dB. The noise level when working can exceed 80 dB(A). Wear hearing protection! Vibration total values ah and uncertainty K determined according to EN 60745: ah <2.5 m/s2, K= 1.5 m/s2. The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a standardised test given in EN 60745 and may be used to compare one tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. To ensure full battery capacity, completely charge the battery (at least 3– 5 hours) before using for the first time. The Lithium-Ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not damage the battery. The “Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)” protects the lithium ion battery against deep discharging. When the battery is discharged, the power tool is switched off by a protective circuit. WARNING After the automatic shut-off of the power tool, do not continue to press the trigger. The battery could become damaged. A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full capacity until after approx. 5 charging/discharging cycles. When the battery charge-control indicator 2 lights up red during operation, the battery capacity is below 30% and the battery should be charged. – Plug the mains plug of the battery charger into a socket outlet and the charger plug 8 into the socket 4 on the rear side of the handle. The battery charge-control indicator 2 indicates the charging progress. The indicator flashes green during the charge procedure. Battery Charging Operation Meaning The battery is being charged The battery is fully charged The battery has more than 30% of its capacity The battery has less than 30% of its capacity and should be charged Flashing { Continuous light Note: The power tool cannot be used during the charge procedure; it is not defective when inoperative during the charging procedure. During the charging procedure, the handle of the machine warms up. This is normal. Disconnect the battery charger from the mains supply when not using it for longer periods. f Protect the battery charger against moisture! Observe the notes for disposal. Loading the Magazine (see figure B) f Use only original Bosch accessories. The precision parts of the power tool, such as the magazine, the striker and the shot duct, are matched to Bosch staples. Other manufacturers use other steel qualities and sizes. – Turn the power tool around. – Press release buttons 6 and pull out the magazine 10 toward the rear. – Insert the staple strip 9. – Insert the magazine 10 again until it engages. f Do not exert any force when opening, loading and inserting the magazine. Afterwards, briefly press the trigger 5 and then release again. The trigger lock, which is connected with the movable tacker head 1, prevents unintentional shot actuation when the trigger 5 is inadvertently pressed. Working Advice f This machine is not suitable for working with 19 mm staples. Therefore, do not use the machine to fasten ceiling panelling with profiled wood or grooves. f When the staple is jammed in the machine, do not hold the machine by the trigger. When removing a jammed staple, the trigger can be inadvertently actuated. Avoid blank shots in order to reduce the wear of the impact striker. Carefully apply the tacker head 1 to the material being tacked. Soft workpieces (e. g. pinewood) can become damaged by applying too much pressure. Maintenance and Service Maintenance and Cleaning f For safe and proper working, always keep the machine clean. If the machine should fail despite the care taken in manufacturing and testing procedures, repair should be carried out by an after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
