Your ROWENTA SILENCE STEAM DG8962FO steam generator is equipped with the Calc Away System, which automatically collects limescale inside the boiler. However, cloudy or brown water splashes can occur for several specific reasons.

First, check the dashboard of your steam generator: if the orange Calc Away System light is flashing, you need to rinse the limescale collector. This operation should be done regularly, especially if your water is hard. To rinse the collector: ensure that the generator is cold and unplugged for at least 2 hours, remove the collector cover and unscrew the limescale collector, fill the boiler with 1/4 liter of tap water in an inclined position, stir for a moment and then completely empty it. Then screw the collector back on tightly and replace the cover.

Also check the quality of the water you are using. Your generator is designed to work with regular tap water. However, if your water is very hard, mix 50% tap water with 50% commercially available demineralized water. Never add any chemicals, descalers, or additives to the tank or boiler - they cause brown streaks and damage the appliance. If you are using a filter jug or softened water with chemical salts, prefer untreated tap water.

Before you start ironing, always wait until the iron light is off to use the steam control: premature use with an insufficiently hot iron causes condensation water to leak. Likewise, always start by spraying steam outside your ironing board until the iron emits correctly.

Regularly clean the soleplate of the iron with a damp cloth or a non-abrasive sponge when it is cold. A dirty or clogged soleplate can stain laundry and spray cloudy water. Also check that your laundry has been rinsed sufficiently during washing and that no soap or chemical residue remains on new clothes before ironing.

Finally, ensure that the removable tank is properly seated in its housing (with the locking latch fully engaged) and that it is filled without exceeding the Max level. Perform a complete descaling every 25 uses: unplug the device for 2 hours, place it over a sink, remove the limescale collector, pour 1/4 liter of tap water into the boiler in an inclined position, stir and then completely empty it.
