Frequently Asked Questions - TKA6A684 BOSCH

How do I descale the coffee machine?
When the ⏻ button lights up orange after brewing, descaling is required. Use a commercial descaling agent (no phosphoric acid). Fill the water tank with descaling solution (max 6 cups). Press and hold the ⏻ button for 5 seconds to start the descaling program. The process lasts about 30 minutes. Rinse twice with clean water afterwards.
How do I set the water hardness?
With the appliance switched off and plugged in, press and hold the ⏻ button and aroma button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The button flashes. Within 7 seconds, press ⏻ to select: green (soft), orange (medium), or red (hard). The setting is saved automatically after 7 seconds.
How do I adjust the auto-off time?
For the glass jug variant: With the appliance switched off and plugged in, press and hold the aroma button for 3 seconds. The ⏻ button flashes. Within 7 seconds, press ⏻ to cycle through: green (20 min), orange (40 min), red (60 min). The last setting is saved after 7 seconds. For the thermos jug variant, auto-off occurs a few minutes after brewing.
What should I do if the coffee machine does not start and the ⏻ button flashes red?
The appliance is still too hot. Wait for it to cool down (about 5 minutes). The brewing will start automatically once it has cooled.
Can I use any jug with the coffee machine?
No, only use the supplied jug with the lid closed. Other jugs may cause the drip stop to block the coffee flow. Always place the jug correctly under the filter housing.
How do I use the aroma button?
Press the aroma button within 1 minute after brewing starts. The button lights up red, and the coffee is brewed longer for a stronger taste. The setting is remembered even after switching off.
Why is there condensation on the filter housing?
Condensation on the filter housing is normal and does not indicate a defect. It occurs due to temperature differences during brewing.
How do I clean the glass jug and other parts?
The glass jug and lid are dishwasher-safe. The filter holder is also dishwasher-safe. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth. Rinse the water tank under running water. For the thermos jug variant, do not put it in the dishwasher; rinse manually with warm water and baking soda for stains.
What is the minimum amount of water I should use?
Do not brew less than 4 cups (glass jug) or 3 cups (thermos jug) of water. Using less will result in weak coffee and lower temperature.
How do I brew coffee for the first time?
Remove stickers and film. Pull out the power cord. Fill the water tank with 6 cups of clean water, insert the jug, and switch on using the ⏻ button. Let it run once, then repeat. Optionally, run a diluted vinegar solution (1 cup vinegar to 5 cups water) to remove any odours, then rinse twice with clean water.
