Frequently Asked Questions - KG 100 ECG

How do I use the grill for the first time?
Before first use, clean the plates with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Then heat the grill for about 10 minutes without food to burn off any manufacturing residues. Let it cool, wipe again, and it is ready to use.
Can I cook frozen meat on this grill?
It is recommended to thaw frozen meat completely before grilling for even cooking and better results. However, thin frozen items like burger patties can be cooked directly if you extend the cooking time.
How do I clean the non-stick plates?
Unplug the grill and let it cool. Wipe the plates with a soft sponge or cloth using warm soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal utensils which could damage the non-stick coating. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
What is the maximum temperature?
The thermostat can be adjusted up to approximately 230°C (450°F), suitable for searing and grilling most foods.
Does the grill have an automatic shut-off?
No, the grill does not have an automatic shut-off timer. It has a thermal safety cut-off to prevent overheating, but you should monitor cooking and turn it off manually after use.
Can I use metal utensils on the grill?
No, metal utensils can scratch the non-stick coating. Use silicone, wood, or plastic utensils to preserve the surface.
How long does it take to preheat?
Preheating typically takes about 5-8 minutes, depending on the desired temperature. The indicator light will turn off or change color when the set temperature is reached.
Is the grill dishwasher safe?
No, the grill itself and its plates are not dishwasher safe. To prolong the non-stick coating, clean by hand with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazard. Do not use the grill until repaired.
Can I use the grill to press sandwiches?
Yes, the grill is ideal for making panini or pressed sandwiches. Place the sandwich on the lower plate and gently close the lid. The floating hinge adjusts to the thickness.

① ② ③

The position for baking and grilling

  • Baking: You can decide if the upper plate will bake the food directly (contact grill) or if you leave a space between the food and the upper plate and will just heat the food from the top – position (1).
  • Grilling: You can leave the upper unused plate in the 90^ position - position (2).

  • Place the excess grease tray to the drip groove. The tilt of the grill can be easily changed using adjustable feet located at the bottom of the grill for better grease removal.

  • Place the grill on a level and dry surface and plug the power cable in the electrical outlet. The grill turns on and the red indicator POWER comes on.
  • Using the thermostat control, set the required temperature an let the grill to warm up. Green light READY indicates that the plates are heating up. Once the plate is heated to the set temperature, the indicator goes off.

4. Opening the grill:

  • Check, if the grill is heated to the required temperature (indicator light READY is off).
  • Use the handle to open the lid with the upper plate (slider to adjust the height of the grill on the right side of the upper plate must be in the "OPEN" position).

Then lower the upper plate slowly until it reaches the stop ⑩.

  1. When the food is cooked, remove it from the plates using wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils.

Using the open grill (position 3)

This position provides a bigger grilling surface and allows separate cooking of foods, e.g. when grilling meat and vegetables in the same time.

  1. Fully opened grill in 180° position:

- Hold the handle and in the same time press the lock for opening of the grill ⑪.

- Raise the upper plate using the handle and lay it carefully in the horizontal position. You can use the handle then as a support for the opened upper plate. Place the excess grease tray to the drip grooves.
