- Use only reliable quality vegetable oil or deep fry oil. Frying with butter, margarine, olive oil or animal fat is not recommended due to their lower evaporation temperature.
- Before frying remove excess water from foodstuffs to prevent excessive foaming and splattering. Do not put wet food products into hot oil! Even small amount of water results in splattering!
- Always unplug the cord from the power outlet after using. Always allow the fryer to completely cool before pouring the oil away or cleaning! The appliance should be cleaned after each use!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- Lift the lid ① open by operating the lid release button ④.
- Fill the oil vat ⑥ with cooking oil or fat at least to or above the MIN level. Do not fill over the MAX level.
CAUTION! Be careful not to spill the cooking oil / fat on the deep fryer body when filling the oil vat ⑥.
- Close the lid ① and plug the power cord to a mains outlet. Set the frying temperature by operating the thermostat control knob ②. The thermostat indicator lamp ③ will go on. The thermostat indicator lamp ③ will go off once the set temperature is reached. The recommended temperature setting for most food products is 190 °C. The time to preheat the deep fryer to this temperature is ca. 15 minutes. The thermostat indicator lamp ③ will go on and off during operation. This means that the deep fryer is maintaining the set temperature.
- While the cooking oil / fat is preheated, prepare your food products for processing.
Caution! Deep frying in hot oil / fat requires extreme caution to prevent severe burns and damage to property.
- Fill the frying basket in 2/3 with the food products.
CAUTION! Hold the frying basket by the heat-insulated handle only.
- With the cooking oil / fat brought to the set temperature, open the lid ①, place the frying basket ⑦ with the food products in the oil vat ⑥ with the heat-insulated handle ⑧ on the right side of the deep fryer, and close the lid ①. With the lid ① closed, the mount holes ⑫ should fully engage the heat-insulated handle ⑧ wires.
- Steaming of the frying window 10 glass is normal for the first few minutes of frying. The steam will slowly go away during frying, if the glass is clean.
- After the required frying time, press the lid release button ④, open the lid ①, lift the frying basket ⑦ by the heat-insulated handle ⑧ and mount the fat drain hook ⑨ on the top edge of the oil vat ⑥ to drain the cooking oil / fat from the fried food.
CAUTION! Hot vapour: use kitchen mittens to open the lid when frying.
-
If the food is not done yet, place the frying basket ⑦ again in the oil vat ⑥ and close the lid ①.
-
When done frying, unplug the deep fryer from the mains, remove the frying basket ⑦ from the deep fryer and move the food to a plate. Add spices and condiments to taste.
- Wait until the deep fryer and the oil / fat have completely cooled down to ambient temperature. Empty the oil vat ⑥ to an oil and heat resistant container. Immediately clean the deep fryer.
CAUTION! To empty the deep fryer of oil / fat, open the lid ①, hold the deep fryer body with both hands and tip it to move the oil / fat to an oil and heat resistant container. Immediately clean the deep fryer.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION! Before cleaning, always unplug the deep fryer from the mains outlet and wait until it has completely cooled down.
CAUTION! Do not immerse the deep fryer body 5 in water!
- If you want to reuse the oil / fat, filter it through a strainer to remove all food residues. Keep the oil / fat sealed and away from heat and light.
- Once empty, wash the oil vat ⑥ with a detergent and a little of water, rinse clean, and leave to dry. Do not clean with any abrasive products that might scratch the finish of the oil vat.
- Wash the frying basket ⑦ with warm water and a detergent, rinse it clean and leave to dry.
- Wipe clean the deep fryer body ⑤ and lid ① with a damp, soft cloth. Next, wipe them dry. Wet the soft cloth with water and some detergent if the dirt and grime persist. The deep fryer must be thoroughly dry before the next use. Do not clean the deep fryer with solvents or other aggressive agents.
- Periodically inspect the filter elements 14. The filter elements are accessed by removing the filter cover 13. The filter elements are washable with warm water and require drying before reuse. If the filter elements have become inefficient, replace them with new ones. Install the black filter element on the inside and the white filter element on the outside.
USEFUL TIPS
When using the fryer for the first time a slight odour or light smoking can occur. This is normal during initial use.
It is recommended to fry products of similar size and thickness so they fry more equally in the same time.
Fill the basket no more than 2/3 full. If more products are fried, they will not be crisp.
Fish, vegetables and meat should be coated before frying.
Use only metal cutlery. Plastic or rubber cutlery will be damaged in hot oil! Do not leave cutlery in the fryer!
After each use, strain oil through a double thickness of cheesecloth/ fine sieve to remove the accumulated residue.
The number of times the frying oil can be reused will depend on the food that is fried in it. It will need to be replaced more often if coated fish or meat is fried.
It is time to replace the frying oil if any of the following occur: the oil is dark in colour, smokes when it is heated, or foams excessively during frying.
