2 Food storage safety information

Please follow specific procedures for vacuum sealing; so you can guarantee the quality and safety of your vacuumed / sealed food.

PLEASE NOTE

If perishable foods have been heated, defrosted or un-refrigerated, consume them immediately.
Make sure that everything is as hygienic as possible; wash your hands before vacuum sealing food and keep all utensils and the device absolutely clean.
▶ Refrigerate or freeze the perishable foods immediately, if you have vacuum-sealed them, and do not leave them sitting at room temperature.
The shelf life of dry foods such as nuts, coconut or cereals will be extended in vacuum-sealed package, while storing them in dark place. Oxygen and warm temperature will cause high-fat content foods fat to rancidity.
Before vacuum sealing some fruit and vegetables, such as apples, bananas, potatoes and root vegetables, peel them, this will extend their shelf lives.
When vacuum seal some vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage fresh for refrigeration, they will emit gases, so it's need to blanch and freeze these foods before vacuum sealing.

4Operation

This chapter provides instructions on the proper operation of your vacuum sealer.

4.1 Basics of sealing

After each sealing session and before starting up, check to make sure the unit and all accessories are clean and free of leftover food. Follow the cleaning instructions on in Chapter Cleaning and Maintenance.

4.2 Use / suitability of Bags, rolls and Food Manager Sticker

Please only use bags and rolls expressly intended for vacuuming. The fi lm rolls and bags supplied are suitable for SousVide cooking (70 °C for 2 hours and 100 °C for 15 min) and for freezing. When using foils from other manufacturers, please make sure that they are also suitable for the microwave and for cooking-in-a-bag (sous vide), as well as for freezing. Please note that a bar vacuumsealer as this device can only be used with structured bags. You can buy a wide range of different bags and rolls from CASO. The supplied stickers are for food organisation. With the Caso Food Manager app, you can see which food is available or needs to be used up. Find out more at www.myfoodmanager.de.

4.3 Use / suitability of the VacuBoxxes

When filling the food, leave approx. 0.5 cm free up to the top edge of the container. Fruits and vegetables that gas up, such as onions or cabbage, should be blanched before vacuuming, as they release gases and thus the vacuum is lost within a few hours.

4.3.1 Heating and freezing canisters

The containers (but not the lids) are suitable for warming up food in the microwave or oven (up to 350 °C). Let food cool down before you vacuum seal it.

CASO VRH 800 advanced Pro - Heating and freezing canisters - 1

WARNING

Risk of burns / injury

▶ Please be careful when handling heated canisters and food, as there is a risk of scalding. Use potholders or similar items as necessary.
▶ Do not heat the canister directly on fire.

You can also use these canisters to freeze food (down to -18^ ). When filling, please remember that frozen food can expand.

CASO VRH 800 advanced Pro - WARNING - 1

WARNING

Risk of injury

Do not put containers in the oven straight from the freezer.

4.4 Use / suitability of the WineLock - vacuum aroma seal

Suitable for bottle necks with an internal diameter of 16-19 mm. You can vacuum seal e.g. wine bottles, oil bottles, vinegar bottles and juice bottles with the fl avour seal. The liquids must not contain any carbon dioxide.

PLEASE NOTE

You can use the device up to 200 times in a row with the „Vacuum & seal“ operation and up to 200 times with the „Seal“ operation without it overheating.
Do not overstuff the bag; leave enough empty length in the open end of the bag (at least a few inches) so that the bag can be properly placed in the vacuum chamber.
Clean and straighten the open end of the bag before sealing. Foreign matter or creases on the bag may result in a faulty seal. Do not wet the open end of the bag. Wet bags may not seal properly.
Press the bag to expel excess air before vacuuming it. Too much air inside the bag may result in a poor vacuum.
If the food you're sealing has sharp edges (such as bones or shells) pack the edges with kitchen paper to avoid tearing the bag
▶ First freeze liquid food in a suitable container and then put it in a bag to vacuum seal it.
As food can expand slightly during freezing, choose a bag about 8 cm longer.
Place unfrozen meat or fish on a paper towel and vacuum seal with the paper towel in the bag to absorb any extra moisture.
Separate soft foods that stick together easily with baking or parchment paper and then vacuum seal them. This will make it easier to remove:

4.7 Use of the function "Liquid"

Use the "Liquid" function to vacuum and seal bags which are filled with liquids or moist goods. We recommend using a stand-up vacuum bag for liquids.

  1. Place the device on a dry place.
  2. Unfold the bottom of the bag and place it in an upright position. The bag should only be filled to maximum approx. 1/3 to allow it to be folded backwards toward the vacuum chamber.

  3. Use the "Food" button to select the "Liquid" option for the sealing time. If you select "Liquid", then the "Soft" option will automatically be selected for the vacuum intensity. It is not possible to select the "Normal" option.

CASO VRH 800 advanced Pro - Use of the function "Liquid" - 1

natural_image Technical line drawing of a mechanical component or housing (no text or symbols)
  1. Pres the "Vacuum & Seal / Cancel" button to start the vacuuming process.

  2. The corresponding LED lights up and turns off when the process is complete. The "Progress" light indicates progress of the process.

PLEASE NOTE

If liquid gets sucked into the removable drip tray, then remove the tray from the device and clean it. In addition to this, make sure that you also clean the inside of the device.

4.8 Use of the function „pulse“ vacuum

Since the pressure of vacuum sealing is too great for some foods and they could be crushed in the bag, you can use the „Pulse“ function to regulate the duration and thus the strength of the vacuum sealing process. So you can adjust the vacuum strength to the consistency of your vacuum food and also seal soft foods (for example berry fruit) without crushing them. The time and pressure regulation prevents delicate food from being crushed. When packing some juicy foods, you can also use this function to prevent liquid from being sucked in and drawn out.

  1. Place the device on a dry place.
  2. Open the device using the handle.
  3. Place the food to be preserved inside the bag.
  4. Make sure that the open end of the bag is inside the vacuum chamber.
  5. Close the lid and push down the handle.
  6. Press the „Pulse“ button. As long as you keep the button pressed, air is extracted. Only when you release the button, the process stops.
  7. Please hold the button pressed until the required vacuum has been reached.
  8. The LED of the „Seal“ key fl ashes.
  9. Then press the button „Seal“ and seal the bag.

PLEASE NOTE

If too much air has been extracted, you can wait a moment and the device will let air into the bag again. You can repeat the process.

4.9Vacuum sealing containers or bottles using the WineLock

  1. Place the device on a dry place.
  2. Open the device using the handle.
  3. Wipe the vacuum container and its lid to make sure they are clean and dry.

7 Disposal of the Old Device

Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

CASO VRH 800 advanced Pro - Disposal of the Old Device - 1

PLEASE NOTE

Please take your old unit to the nearest recycling center for safe disposal.
Until it can be disposed of properly, store your old unit away from children.

7.1 Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to "Green Dot" recycling collection points for disposal.
