Frequently Asked Questions - HS-550 Vevor

How to install the compressor on the vehicle?
Secure the compressor to the chassis using the provided M6 bolts, nuts, flat washers, and rubber pads. Use a 10 mm wrench or a 1.5 mm socket wrench. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and clean.
What to do if the horn produces no sound?
First check the power supply: ensure the switch is ON and the fuse is not blown. Next, check the air pressure: the tank should be between 90 and 120 psi. If the problem persists, check the electrical connections and the solenoid valve; replace it if necessary.
How to drain the air tank?
Turn off the power and reduce the tank pressure to below 0.1 MPa. Open the drain valve located at the bottom of the tank to release condensed water. Perform this operation regularly, especially in humid climates, at least every 5 months.
Why does the compressor shut off automatically?
It is due to the built-in thermal protection. If the compressor overheats (excessive use, poor ventilation), the device cuts the power. Let the unit cool down for about 20 minutes before restarting. Improve ventilation if necessary.
What are the essential safety precautions during installation?
Wear ANSI-approved safety glasses and sturdy gloves. Install on a flat, hard, and stable surface. Keep children and bystanders away. Do not assemble under the influence of alcohol or medication. Follow all assembly instructions.
How to properly connect the electrical wires?
For the compressor: use 14 AWG copper wire. Connect the black wire to the negative terminal (ground) and the red wire to the positive terminal via a 20 A power switch. For the horn: use at least 16 AWG wire, connect the two power lines (positive and negative) independently.
What air pressure is needed to operate the horn?
The horn works when the tank pressure is between 90 and 120 psi. The compressor starts at 90 psi and stops at 120 psi. Check the pressure gauge to monitor pressure.
What to do in case of abnormal compressor noise?
A knocking or clicking noise may indicate loose mounting bolts or a worn piston/ring. Tighten the bolts. If the noise persists, replace the piston or intake valve.
How to replace the fuse?
First disconnect the compressor from the power source. Locate the fuse holder (often on the red wire). Replace the blown fuse with a fuse of the same rating, recommended 20 A. Reconnect and test.
Can this horn be used on all 12 V vehicles?
Yes, this horn is designed for 12 V electrical systems (cars, trucks, boats). Make sure the battery can supply sufficient current (approx. 15 A for the compressor). Check the available mounting space.

Troubleshooting

Automatic Thermal Overload Protection

Your air compressor is equipped with an automatic thermal overload protector. This feature is designed to protect the air compressor from overheating and causing permanent damage. The thermal overload protector will automatically cut power to your air compressor if the internal operating temperature rises above safe levels during excessive use.

If at any time during use your air compressor automatically shuts off, do not attempt to restart it. Turn off the power and allow it to cool for about 20 minutes. This will allow the thermal overload protector to reset so you can safely resume use.
