Frequently Asked Questions - CM610 MULTIMETRIX

How to measure voltage with the CM610?
Set the selector to the voltage symbol (V). Insert the black lead into the COM input and the red lead into the + input. Apply the test probes to the circuit. Read the stabilized value on the display. For DC voltage, press SELECT if necessary. Caution: do not exceed 600 V.
How to measure AC current?
Set the selector to A. Open the clamp with the handle and place a single conductor in the center of the clamp. Read the value. To display the maximum value, press MAX. Never place both conductors of the same circuit in the clamp.
What does the '----' display mean?
The '----' display indicates an overrange. You have exceeded the maximum range for the selected function. Switch to a higher range (if manual) or check that the measurement is within the instrument's limits.
How to use the MAX function?
In V or A position, press the MAX button. The MAX icon appears. The device records and updates the maximum measured value. Press MAX again to deactivate.
How to test a diode?
Set the selector to ➤+ . Connect the black probe to the cathode and the red probe to the anode. A silicon diode gives 0.5 to 0.7 V. A value near zero indicates a short circuit; OL indicates an open diode. Reverse the probes: a good diode shows OL.
How to perform a continuity test?
Set the selector to ➤+ and press SELECT until the continuity icon (⚪) appears. Insert the leads and apply the probes to the circuit. A beep sounds if the resistance is less than 90 Ω ± 40 Ω.
How to replace the batteries?
Disconnect the leads, set the selector to OFF. Remove the screw of the battery compartment at the back, open the cover. Replace the two 1.5 V AAA/LR3 batteries respecting polarity. Close and tighten the screw.
How to clean the device?
Use a damp cloth soaked in soapy water. Never use solvents or abrasive materials.
What are the important safety precautions?
Never work on circuits exceeding 600 V. Wear insulating gloves. Do not use the device in a damp environment. Check the condition of the leads before each use. Do not exceed the CAT III 300 V category limits.
How to interpret the low battery icon?
The low battery icon (ref. 17) appears when the batteries need to be replaced. Change them promptly to avoid erroneous measurements.
