How to start the Kärcher HV 11 Bp Cs vacuum cleaner?

Press the main switch halfway for momentary operation. For continuous operation, push the switch until it engages. To stop, press the switch again.

How to activate Eco mode and what is its advantage?

Press the Eco button (mark 1 on the device). Eco mode reduces suction power, which increases battery runtime (35 min instead of 21 min). To deactivate, press the button again.

How to empty the vacuum cleaner's tank?

Press the dirt collector release on both sides, tilt it upwards and remove it. Remove the filter, empty the tank, replace the filter and snap the collector back into place.

How to clean the vacuum cleaner's filters?

Remove the dirt collector, take out the filter cartridge and pre-filter. Clean them carefully without damaging the filter surface. You can replace them if necessary. Never use the appliance without filters.

Which battery to use with this vacuum cleaner?

Use exclusively 18 V batteries of type Kärcher BP. The supplied battery is an 18 V, 2,500 mAh lithium-ion battery. Do not use other batteries.

What is the battery runtime and how to optimize it?

The runtime is 21 minutes in normal operation and 35 minutes in Eco mode. To optimize, use Eco mode and recharge the battery immediately after use. The charge level is displayed on the battery.

What to do if suction decreases or becomes insufficient?

First check if Eco mode is activated (deactivate it). Then empty the tank and clean the filters. Also check that the nozzle and suction tube are not clogged.

Can I vacuum liquids with this vacuum cleaner?

No, this appliance is designed only for dry vacuuming. Vacuuming liquids can damage the appliance and presents a risk of electric shock.

How to transport the vacuum cleaner safely?

Safety instructions for transport

The lithium-ion battery is subject to the requirements of dangerous goods regulations and can be transported by the user in public traffic areas without any further restrictions.

When shipping by third parties (transport companies), special requirements for packaging and labelling must be observed.

Only send the battery if the casing is un-damaged. Tape off open contacts and pack the battery tightly and securely. It must not be able to move in the packaging.

Defective rechargeable batteries must not be shipped.

Contact the authorised Customer Service if you have a defective battery pack.

Please also observe the national regulations.

Start up

→ Select the desired accessory and plug it onto the suction pipe or directly into the device.

ATTENTION

Danger of tipping over! Do not set the device down when using the flexible suction hose. Hold the device in one hand during cleaning.

→ Push the battery pack into the mounting in the device until it audibly latches into place.

Operation

Switching the device on/off

→ Press the power switch halfway, the device starts up.
→ Release the power switch, device stops.
→ Press the power switch until it latches into place: Continuous operation.
→ Press the power switch - latch disengages and the device stops.

Eco button (energy-saving mode)

Eco mode (energy saver mode): The appliance works with reduced suction performance. The battery life will extend.

→ To switch on eco mode: Press the eco button.
→ To switch off eco mode: Press the eco button again.

The most recently selected mode remains stored when the device is switched off and is reactivated when the device is switched on again.

Battery pack charge level display

Note

Please read and adhere to the battery pack operating instructions.

The battery pack is equipped with a charge level display.

The current charge state is displayed when the battery pack is in the vacuum cleaner or charger.

■ The remaining charge is displayed when the battery is in use.

The test button (power) on the battery pack can be pressed at any time to check the current charge state.

Emptying the dirt container

Note

Large accessories, such as e.g. the suction pipe, should be removed from the suction hose port before removing the dirt receptacle.

→ Press the dirt receptacle release mechanisms on both sides.
→ Pivot the dirt receptacle upwards.
→ Remove the dirt receptacle from the device for cleaning.
→ Remove the filter element from the dirt receptacle.
→ Empty the dirt container.
→ Reinsert the filter element.
→ Insert and lock into place the dirt container.

ATTENTION

Risk of damage! Do not operate the device without the filter element.

Turn the suction hose port

→ Press the suction hose port release mechanism.
→ Turn the suction hose port in the desired direction until it latches into position.

Floor nozzle

The floor nozzle can be converted for use on various different types of floor.

■ Use with brushes suitable for hard floors
■ Use without brushes suitable for carpets

→ Unlock the lock.
→ Remove the carpet insert.
→ Insert the hard floor insert.
→ Close the lock.

And vice-versa.

After each operation

→ Empty the dirt receptacle.
→ Charge battery pack.

Automatic switch off when the battery pack is discharged

To prevent deep discharging of the battery pack, the device switches off automatically when the battery pack is discharged. In this case, recharge the battery as soon as possible.

ATTENTION

Risk of damage due to deep discharge! Ensure that the device is switched off (power switch latch released) when you store the device without first charging the battery pack.

Charging process

Note

Please read and adhere to the charger operating instructions.

→ Press the battery release mechanism.
→ Remove the battery from the device.

Note

New battery packs are only pre-charged and must be completely charged prior to the initial use.

→ Plug in the mains plug.
→ Push the battery pack into the mounting on the charger.
→ The charger performs a self test and the charging process starts automatically.
→ The charging progress is shown in the charge level display.
→ The battery pack is fully charged when all LEDs in the charge level display light up continuously.
→ After charging, remove the battery pack from the charger.
→ Pull out the mains plug.

Note

Charge batteries that have not been used for a long time before use.

The capacity of a battery pack decreases at low temperatures.

Long periods of storage at temperatures above 40 °C will reduce the capacity of the battery pack.

Note

The charged battery pack can remain on the charger till it is to be used. There is no risk of over-charging.

In order to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, the charger should, however, be unplugged as soon as the battery pack has been fully charged.

Transport

→ When transporting in vehicles, secure the appliance according to the guidelines from slipping and tipping over.

Storage

This appliance must only be stored in interior rooms.

Risk of damage! Store the battery packs in rooms with low humidity and below 20 °C only.

Care and maintenance

Clean/replace the filter element

→ Unlock and remove the dirt receptacle.
→ Pull the cartridge filter out of the dirt receptacle.
→ Pull the pre-filter off the cartridge filter.
→ Clean the filter element or replace if necessary.

ATTENTION

Risk of damage! Clean the filter element carefully. Do not subject the filter area to mechanical stress.

Do not operate the device without the filter element.

Troubleshooting

⚠️DANGER

Turn the appliance off and remove the accumulator prior to performing any tasks on the appliance.

The appliance shuts off during the operation

• Discharge battery pack.
  → Charge battery pack.
• Battery pack overheating protection has triggered.
  → Allow battery pack to cool down.

Suction capacity decreases

→ Empty the dirt receptacle.
→ Clean the filter element.

No or insufficient suction

→ Eco function switched on. Switch the Eco function off for full suction power.
→ Remove clogging from the suction nozzle or suction pipe.
→ Clean the filter element.

Suction turbine does not run

• Discharge battery pack.
  → Charge the battery pack.
• Battery pack has not been placed correctly on the battery holder.
  → Press the battery pack into the device until it locks in place.
• Battery pack at the end of its service life.
  → Replace battery pack.

If malfunction can not be fixed, the device must be checked by customer service.
