How to install the Parkside PSTS 12 A1 solar pump?

Place the pump completely submerged (at least 4 cm under water) on a flat surface. Attach the tubular supports and the chosen fountain nozzle. Connect the pump cable to the solar panel. Orient the panel towards full sun.

What to do if the pump does not start?

Check the connection between the pump and the solar panel. Ensure the panel is exposed to sunlight and clean. Check the water level (pump must be submerged).

The jet height decreases, what to do?

Clean the fountain nozzle: remove it and rinse the openings with clear water. Also check the filter screen and impeller.

Can I use the pump in salt water?

No, the device is designed only for fresh water. Salt water, aggressive or flammable liquids damage the pump and void the warranty.

What is the maximum immersion depth?

The pump can be submerged up to about 17 cm below the water surface. The fountain nozzle must remain out of the water.

How to maintain the pump?

Disconnect the solar panel. Remove the filter screen and impeller cover. Clean the impeller with a soft brush and water jet. Reassemble in reverse order. Perform monthly maintenance.

Can I use the pump in cloudy weather?

Yes, but the flow rate will be reduced because the solar panel produces less energy. For optimal operation, place the panel in full sun.

What to do if the pump stops after a few minutes?

Check the water temperature (max 35 °C) and the cleanliness of the water. Clean the pump and possibly add an additional filter.

Is the pump covered by warranty?

Yes, the warranty is 3 years from the date of purchase. It covers material and manufacturing defects, but not normal wear or damage due to improper use.

- Introduction

Congratulations! You have purchased one of our high-quality products. During production this device was checked for quality and subject to a final inspection. This ensures that your device is working properly. It is possible that, in individual cases, there may be residual water or lubricant on or in the device. This is not a defect or fault and is not a cause for concern. Please familiarise yourself with the product before using it for the first time. To do so, please read through the following operating and safety instructions carefully. Only trained persons may start up this product.

- Intended use

The Parkside solar pond fountain (hereafter referred to as "pump") is designed for pumping water with a temperature between 4^ C and 35^ C. The pump is not frost-resistant and must be protected against frost.

The solar pond fountain is a solar-powered device to enrich the water in your pond with oxygen. Using sunlight, the device generates the energy which is required to operate the pump. The pump pumps water in the form of different fountain shapes onto the surface of the water. This is how the product oxygenates the water. The shape of the fountain can be selected using the plug-in attachments.

The device is only intended to pump water. The device is not suitable for pumping dirty water with granular dirt or suspended particles or other liquids of any type such as, for example, petrol, diesel, solvents, etc.

Keep these instructions in a safe place. Ensure you hand over all documentation when passing the product on to anyone else. Any use that differs to the intended use as stated above is prohibited and potentially dangerous. If there are individuals in the water, then the device must not be used. There is a risk of electric shock. The operator or user is responsible for accidents or injury to other people or their property. The manufacturer is not liable for any injury or damage resulting from improper use or incorrect operation. This device is not suitable for commercial use. Commercial use will void the guarantee.

PLEASE NOTE: The maximum water flow per hour is specific value for the pump. In reality these values may be reduced by the nozzle connector used and by using nozzles, hoses and similar components which are connected to the pump. These type of connections increase the flow resistance of the water against which the pump has to work.

Changes to technical and visual aspects of the product may be made as part of future developments without notice. Accordingly, no warranty is offered for the physical dimensions, information and specifications in these operating instructions. The operating instructions cannot therefore be used as the basis for asserting a legal claim.

- Safety instructions

PLEASE READ THROUGH THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USE. THESE FORM PART OF THE PRODUCT AND MUST BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES!

This section covers the basic safety instructions applicable when working with the device.

■ The device must only be mended and repaired by trained specialist personnel. Only genuine spare parts must be used.
■ Only use the device in fresh water.
■ Never allow the pump to run dry as otherwise it may be damaged.
■ Make sure that the surface of the solar panel is not damaged.
■ Before starting work, familiarise yourself with all operating elements, in particular with the functions and mechanisms. If necessary ask a professional. Read and follow the operating instructions for the device.
■ ATTENTION! The surface of the pump may get warm during operation! RISK OF BURNS!
■ DANGER OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! If there are individuals in the water, then the device must not be used. There is a risk of electric shock.
This device may be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or a lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed in how to use the device safely and have understood the dangers that may arise when using it. Do not allow

children to play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance work must not be carried out by children, unless they are being supervised.

■ Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
■ ATTENTION! Prevent the pump from running dry!

Risk of overheating! Risk of material damage!

- Follow the further instructions in the "Maintenance and cleaning" chapter, as well as the "Storage" chapter.

⚠️CAUTION!HOW TO AVOID ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES:

■ Individuals who are not familiar with the operating instructions must not use the device. Local regulations may specify the minimum age for the operating personnel.
■ Wear sturdy shoes to protect against electric shock.
■ Take appropriate measures to keep children away from the device when it is running. There is a risk of injury.
- Do not operate the device near to fl ammable liquids or gases. Failure to do so risks causing a fire or explosion.
- Keep the device in a dry location and out of the reach of children when it is not being used.

⚠️ CAUTION! HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE DEVICE AND ANY HARM TO PERSONS THAT MAY RESULT FROM SUCH DAMAGE:

- You must not pump aggressive, abrasive/grinding (e.g. sandwater), corrosive, fl ammable (e.g. automotive fuels) or explosive liquids, saltwater, detergents and food stuffs. The temperature of the liquid being pumped must not exceed 35°C. Not complying with this may cause damage to the device and expose the user to a risk of injury.

- Do not work with damaged, incomplete devices or those which have been modified without the approval of the manufacturer.

- Check the device regularly to make sure it is functioning properly.

■ Protect the device from frost and running dry.

- Only use original accessories and do not carry out any modifications to the device.

- Please read the instructions in the operating instructions on the subject of “Maintenance and cleaning”. All additional measures must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Always contact our service point if you need any repairs.

- Before using the device

1. Fit the connector 5 onto the nozzle 19 of the pump 1, as shown in Fig. F.
2. Depending on the height required, fit the short socket pipe 3 or one or more socket pipes 2 onto the connector 5 (see Fig. G + H).
3. Select one of the fountain attachments 6 - 10 and fit it onto the socket pipe 2 (see Fig. I).
4. You can change the shape of the fountain with the modified attachment 9 with one of the flat attachments 11 - 13 (see Fig. B3).
5. Connect the pump cable 14 to the cable of the solar panel 15. To do this connect the two plugs and tighten the lock handtight (see Fig. J).

PLEASE NOTE: Prevent the pump from running dry. Failure to do so will void any warranty and liability claims.

- Using the device

• Check whether the position for the pump 1 is secure and fi x the pump 1 onto the supporting surface before you use it. For smooth supporting surfaces, you can use the suction pads on the underside of the pump 1 to do this.
• Position the pump 1 fully below the surface of the water, ideally at least 4 cm under the water level. Align the pump 1 so that it is as level and horizontal as possible.
  Do not place the pump 1 directly onto slimy or sandy surfaces. The ideal position is for it to be raised, such as, for example, on a stone.
• Never use the pump 1 without the filter grille21. This prevents the ingress of coarse dirt which would damage the pump 1.
  In order to achieve the very best pumping results, the pump 1 must be positioned on a fl at surface.
  ■ Only allow the pump 1 to operate when it is completely submersed in water.
  If you use the pump 1 in an ornamental pond, position the pump 1 in an area which is as free of sand as possible.
  Now position the solar panel 4 in such a way that it is in full sunlight. For better alignment, the stands 16 can be folded out or alternatively, the solar panel 4 can be fitted to the suspension holes 17 provided for this purpose.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to achieve the maximum water flow, the solar pane should be positioned in an area with direct, all-day sunlight and not in shadow.

PLEASE NOTE: You can position the pump 1 to a depth of approx. 17 cm below the surface of the water. The selected fountain attachment 6 - 10 must always be above the surface of the water, even where there are light waves, so that the jet spouts properly.

- Maintenance and cleaning

The pump 1 has been manufactured in a reliable, high-quality design, where the non-contact pump wheel mechanism ensures a long period of operation. However the fan wheel unit 18 is susceptible to contamination from the operating environment and must not be damaged.

CAUTION: In order to clean the pump 1 or carry out maintenance work, always disconnect it from the solar panel 4 first. There is a risk of electric shock or risk of injury through moving parts.

In order to clean the pump 1, remove the filter grille21 and pull the fan wheel cover 20 forwards to pull it off. If required, use a Phillips screwdriver to help.

Use a small, soft brush or a water jet to remove any dirt which is stuck on.

If the fountain height decreases, then it is possible that one of the openings in the fountain attachment 6 - 10 is blocked. Check these and clean them by rinsing in clear water, if necessary.

CAUTION: The pump shaft cannot be removed. Re-assemble the pump 1 after cleaning by follow-

ing the instructions in reverse order. Monthly maintenance will increase the service life of the pump 1.

- Troubleshooting

If the pump 1 does not work, check the following:

• Check that there is sufficient water around the pump ^1 .
  Check that there is a proper connection between the pump 1 and the solar panel 4 and ensure that the solar panel 4 is getting sufficient sunlight. Remove any dirt if necessary.
  If, when the pump is running, you can hear abnormal noises, check the pump wheel unit. Rotate the pump wheel to make sure that it is not broken or blocked. If there is a crack or surface damage on the pump wheel unit, contact an authorised service point.

Faults Cause Corrective action
Pump 1 does not run	Connection to the solar panel 4 interrupted	Make sure that there is a proper connection between the pump 1 and solar panel 4.
	Solar panel 4 is not getting any sunlight	Position the solar panel 4 in direct sunlight and remove any dirt if necessary.
Pump 1 does not pump	Housing is clogged with dirt	Clean the pump 1 in accordance with the instructions in the “Maintenance and cleaning” chapter.
	Water level is too low	Position the pump 1 such that it is completely covered with water.
Insuffi cient pumping capacity	Housing is clogged with dirt	Clean the pump 1 in accordance with the instructions in the “Maintenance and cleaning” chapter.
	Attachments 6 - 10 dirty	Check the flow through the individual openings and clean these if necessary, in accordance with the instructions in the “Maintenance and cleaning” chapter.
Pump 1 switches off after a short time	Excessive contaminated water	Clean the pump 1, fi t an additional fi lter in the system (not included in the scope of delivery)
	Excessive water temperature	Ensure that the water temperature does not exceed 35°C.

- Storage

• Keep this device clean, dry and out of the reach of children.
  ■ Protect the device from frost.
  If you are not going to use the pump 1 for a longer period of time, then you must clean the device thoroughly after the last use and before using it again. Otherwise it may be difficult to start the device because of deposits or residues.

● Information about recycling and disposal

DON'T THROW AWAY - RECYCLE!

According to European Directive 2012/19/EU, used electrical devices must be collected separately for environmentally compatible recycling or recovery. Please return this device to an approved waste management company or use your municipal waste collection service. Please ensure you comply with local regulations. If you have any questions, please contact your local authority or waste management company.

Please return this device, accessories and packaging to your local recycling depot. Do not dispose of electrical appliances in household waste! This satisfies your legal obligations while also making an important contribution to protecting the environment.

The warranty for this equipment is 3 years from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights against the retailer of this product. Your statutory rights are not affected in any way by our warranty conditions, which are described below.

• Warranty conditions

The warranty period begins on the date of purchase. Please retain the original sales receipt. This document is required as your proof of purchase.

Should this product show any defect in materials or manufacture within 3 years from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace it – at our discretion – free of charge. This warranty service requires that you retain proof of purchase (sales receipt) for the defective device for the three year period and that you briefy explain in writing what the fault entails and when it occurred.

If the defect is covered by our warranty, we will repair and return your product or send you a replacement. The original warranty period is not extended when a device is repair or replaced.

- Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not extended by the guarantee. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damages or defects detected at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Any incidental repairs after the warranty period are subject to a fee.

This device has been manufactured according to strict quality guidelines and carefully inspected before delivery.

The warranty applies to material and manufacturing defects only. This warranty does not extend to product parts, which are subject to normal wear and tear and can thus be regarded as consumable parts, or for damages to fragile parts, e.g. switches, rechargeable batteries or parts made from glass.

This warranty is voided if the product becomes damaged or is improperly used or maintained. For proper use of the product, all of the instructions given in the operating instructions must be followed precisely. If the operating instructions advise you or warn you against certain uses or actions, these must be avoided in all circumstances.

The product is for consumer use only and is not intended for commercial or trade use. The warranty becomes void in the event of misuse and improper use, use of force, and any work on the device that has not been carried out by our authorised service branch.
