SPM 2000 F3 Handling and operation This section provides you with important information on handling and using the appliance. Before initial use
1) Clean all accessories as described in the section “Cleaning and care” to
remove any possible production residues.
2) Read these operating instructions carefully.
3) Set up the appliance in accordance with the safety instructions.
4) Open the safety catch 4 by moving the slider from the
position to the position.
5) Clean the appliance with a damp cloth as described in “Cleaning and Care”.
6) Close the appliance.
7) Insert the mains cable plug in a properly connected and earthed mains
power socket which supplies the voltage stated in the”Technical data” section.
8) Allow the appliance to heat up to its maximum temperature for approx.
5 minutes. To do this, turn the dial 1 to “Max”. In the front area of the dial 1, the marking shows you the set position. NOTE
The first time the appliance heats up, a small amount of smoke and odour may be generated due to production-related residue. This is normal and is completely harmless. Provide sufficient ventilation; for example, by opening a window.
9) Turn the dial1 to position “0”.
10) After heating, pull the plug out of the mains socket and allow the appliance to
cool down completely.
11) Clean the appliance again with a damp cloth.GB
2) Slide the juice collector 9 into the holder on the back of the appliance
(fig. 1). Fig. 1 NOTE ► In the front area of the dial 1, the marking shows you the set position.
3) Insert the plug into the mains power socket.
The indicator lamp 2 lights up.
4) Set the dial 1 to the desired position from “Min” to “Max”.
The green indicator lamp 2 goes off and then lights up red: The appliance heats up. The red indicator lamp 2 goes off and then lights up green: The set temperature has been reached. The appliance no longer heats up. NOTE ► When the indicator lamp 2 lights up red, this shows that the appliance is heating up. The indicator lamp 2 remains switched on until the set temperature level is reached. Note that, depending on the ambient temperature, heating may start at different positions on the dial 1! ► When the green indicator lamp 2 lights up green, this shows that the appliance is no longer heating up. It therefore also lights up green when the dial 1 is in any position before "Min". ► The indicator lamp 2 may also change colour again after the set temperature has been reached. The indicator light 2 then lights up red. This indicates that the appliance is heating up again to maintain the temperature.■ 10
5) As soon as the indicator lamp 2 switches from red to green, open the
appliance lid by the handle.
6) Place the food you want to roast/grill on the lower griddle 7.
7) Close the appliance lid using the handle 5.
8) Due to its movable mount, the upper griddle 7 always lies parallel to the
lower griddle 7 even if the food to be grilled is bulky. This guarantees an optimal grilling result.
9) Check the browning of the food after a short time. To do this, open the
appliance lid using the handle 5. NOTE ► Start with short grilling times and increase these until you have found the correct duration. For your orientation, please also refer to the section "Food processing table".
10) Once you are satisfied with the level of browning, remove the food.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► Do not use pointed or sharp objects to remove the food. They could damage the surfaces of the griddles 7!
11) Turn the dial1 to position “0”.
12) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
Food processing table The following table will help you by giving you examples of how to process different ingredients. The information in the table refers to the temperature level “Max”. Adjust the recommended amounts according to the recipe and your individual taste. Depending on the recipe, ingredients and desired level of browning, you may have to adjust the quantity of ingredients and the cooking time. If you want to process more than the recommended quantity, divide the total quantity into several portions and process them individually. INGREDIENTS RECOMMENDED QUANTITY TEMPERATURE TIME Minced meat burger 100–600 g¹ Max. 10–15 mins. Salmon fillet 150–600 g² Max. 8–10 mins. Chicken breast brochettes 1–4 pieces Max. 10–15 mins. Cheese sandwiches 1–4 pieces Max. 3–5 mins. Aubergine sprinkled with oil 1–4 slices Max. 3–4 mins. ¹Up to 6 burgers of approx. 100 g each. ²Up to 4 salmon fillets of approx. 150 g each.GB
11 ■ SPM 2000 F3 Tips and tricks ■ To make meat more tender and speed up the grilling process, you can marinate it beforehand. An ideal basis for this can be sour cream, red wine, vinegar, buttermilk or fresh papaya or pineapple juice, for example. Add herbs and spices according to taste. Do not add salt as this can draw water out of the meat and make it dry. Place the meat in the marinade so that it is completely covered and close the container. Ideally, leave it overnight. ■ The griddles 7 have a non-stick coating, therefore extra fat is not necessary. If you still wish to use fat, please ensure that the fat/oil is suitable for grill-roasting, e.g. rapeseed oil. ■ If you are not sure whether the food is cooked all the way through, you can use a commercially available meat thermometer. Cleaning and care WARNING! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Risk of injury when cleaning the appliance! To avoid risks, observe the following safety instructions: ► Before cleaning, pull out the plug and wait until the appliance has completely cooled down. Risk of injury! ► Never clean the appliance under running water and never immerse it in water. The appliance could be irreparably damaged! CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► To avoid irreparable damage to the appliance, ensure that no moisture gets into it during cleaning. ► When cleaning the surfaces use neither abrasive or chemical cleaners, nor sharp or scratchy objects.
1) After the griddles 7 have cooled down, drag the cleaning scraper 8 over
the griddles 7 so that any fat and residues are scraped together or fall into the juice collector 9. This makes fat and residues easier to remove.
2) Wipe the griddles 7 with a damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaning
agents, rough sponges or sharp objects for cleaning as these could damage the non-stick coating.
3) For stubborn crusting, lay a wet cloth on the baked-on residues to soften them.
4) Empty the juice collector 9. We recommend removing the worst greasy
residues with kitchen paper or similar so that the grease does not block up the sink. Clean the juice collector 9 afterwards in warm water with a mild detergent. Rinse out the juice collector 9 with fresh water and dry it.
5) A damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning the exterior surfaces. Ensure that all
parts are completely dry before re-using the appliance.■ 12
6) Wipe the cleaning scraper 8 with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling use a
mild detergent on the cloth. Storage ♦ Close the safety catch 4. ♦ You can place the cleaning scraper 8 in the juice collector 9 for storage. Afterwards, slide the juice collector 9 back into the holder on the back of the appliance (fig. 1). ♦ There is a cable retainer 3 on the underside of the appliance. Wrap the mains cable clockwise around the hook and the foot of the appliance (fig. 2). NOTE ► Clamp the mains plug between the coiled mains cable and the juice collector 9. ► There is a clip attached to the mains cable to fix it in place. Slide it with one side directly under the mains plug and attach it with the other side to the coiled mains cable. Fig. 2 ♦ You can store the appliance vertically to save space. ♦ Store the cleaned appliance in a clean, dust-free and dry location.GB
