NOTICE! Risk of damage!

Risk of damage to the appliance due to incorrect operation.

The maximum load for this washing machine is 8kg (dry weight).

The maximum recommended loads for individual programmes can be found in section "11. Overview of the wash programmes" on page 33.

Take care to ensure that foreign objects (e.g. nails, pins, coins, paper clips) do not find their way into the washing machine with the laundry. These may damage components of the machine (e.g. suds container, drum), which in turn can result in damage to the laundry.

If the correct amount of detergent is dispensed, the washing machine should not need to be descaled. If, however, you do wish to descale the washing machine only use proprietary non-corrosive descending agents. These special descending agents are available to order from your specialist dealer. Follow the instructions for use of the descending agent carefully.

Textiles which have been pre-treated in solvent based cleaning agents must be thoroughly rinsed in clean water before being washed in the washing machine.

Textiles contaminated with flour must not be washed in the appliance, as this can damage the washing machine.

  • Do not use solvent based cleaning agents, e.g. those containing benzine, in this washing machine, as this may result in damage to component parts and create toxic fumes. Such agents also pose a fire and explosion hazard.

  • Do not use solvent based cleaning agents, e.g. those containing benzine, to clean the surfaces of the machine. They can cause damage to plastic surfaces.

Only use dyes specified by the manufacturer as being suitable for use in a domestic washing machine. Always observe the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Colour run and dye removers contain sulphur compounds that can cause damage such as corrosion. Do not use these products in this washing machine.

If detergent comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them thoroughly with lukewarm water immediately.

If swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.

Those with skin problems or sensitive skin should avoid their skin coming into contact with detergent.

After operation, unplug the appliance from the power socket and turn off the water supply to the washing machine.

Make sure that there is no water left in the drum before opening the washing machine door (4).

Pets or children could get into the drum. Make sure that the drum is empty before each use.

The washing machine must not be operated in rooms with flammable or explosive gases.

Before using the washing machine for the first time, run a wash cycle (90°C/no detergent) with no laundry.

Do not wash rugs in the washing machine.

Residues can build up if detergent or fabric softener comes into contact with the air for a longer period of time. Therefore, only pour the detergent or fabric softener into the appliance immediately before starting the wash cycle.

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - NOTICE! Risk of damage! - 1

WARNING! Risk of injury!

9.1. Removing the transit bolts

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Removing the transit bolts - 1

The transit bolts (8) must be removed before using the appliance for the first time. Faults that occur as a result of operating the appliance with the transit bolts still in place are not covered by the warranty.

Unscrew the 4 transit bolts (8) using a 10mm spanner (see Fig. E).
Remove the transit bolts together with their bases from the rubber bushings.
Cover the holes using the blind plugs supplied.

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Removing the transit bolts - 2

Keep the transit bolts (8) (e.g. in case you need to transport the appliance elsewhere in future). Only transport the washing machine with the transit bolts (8)fitted.

9.2. Setup and levelling

Make sure that the appliance is installed on a stable, flat surface (see Fig. F) to ensure vibration-free operation. The place of installation must be in the immediate vicinity of a drain and water connection as well as a domestic power socket.
Provide adequate space for the installation and prepare the installation site so that electricity and water connections are properly available and easily accessible.
Level the washing machine by turning the adjustable feet. Turn the adjustable foot to the right or left to turn the adjustable foot in or out. Then screw the plastic ring all the way up to prevent the adjustable foot from shifting (see Fig. G). After setting up and levelling the washing machine, check the stability by pressing down on each corner of the machine to see if it moves.
Only connect the appliance to a properly installed earthed mains socket if the water inlet and outlet have been connected correctly (see next section).
The mains plug (10) must remain easily accessible after installing the appliance (see Fig. H).

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Setup and levelling - 1

Never place cardboard, wood or similar materials under the appliance to compensate for any unevenness in the floor.

When cleaning the floor in the area of the adjustable feet, take care not to change the setting of the adjustable feet.

9.3. Connection to water supply

Screw the cuff with angled end of the water hose to the water connection (7) on the back of the washing machine (see Fig. 1).
Connect to suitable cold water mains supply (main stopcock) with 3 / 4'' threaded union (see Fig. J).

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Connection to water supply - 1

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

Risk of damage to the appliance if installed incorrectly.

  • Only use new and complete hoses including the necessary fittings. Replace used hoses with new ones.
The water hose including seals is located in the drum.
The water pressure of the mains must be min. 0.1 MPa (1 bar), max. 1 MPa (10 bar).
  • Only connect the washing machine to a cold water inlet. It is not suitable for hot water connection.

After connection, check that the hose is not twisted.
After connecting the hose and valve, check for tightness.
Check the condition of the water hose regularly.

9.4. Aqua stop

If the hose is damaged, the aqua stop system reacts and cuts off the water supply to the washing machine. The indicator in the viewing window (see a, Fig. J) on the aqua stop device turns red in this case. The inlet hose must be replaced.

SILVERCREST

9.5. Drainage

The waste water hose (9) is located at the rear of the washing machine.

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Drainage - 1

NOTICE! Possible material damage!

Risk of material damage if installed incorrectly.

  • Secure the waste water hose so that it does not move back and forth during operation of the washing machine (see examples Fig. K, M, N).
The outlet of the waste water hose must be placed above the water level of the drum (min. 0.6 m, max. 1 m, see Fig. K/L).
Do not push the waste water hose too deeply into the drain pipe!

Connect the waste water hose to a waste water drain pipe (see Fig. K) or to a siphon (see Fig. N) or hang the end of the waste water hose in a sink (see Fig. M). Due to the water pressure at the hose outlet, draining the waste water into a small washbasin is not possible.

If necessary, use a retaining bracket (not supplied) to hang the drain hose (9) in order to ensure that the drain hose is firmly attached.

Make sure that the hose is free of kinks.

9.6. Connecting to the mains

SILVERCREST SWM 1400 A1 - Connecting to the mains - 1

12.1. The first wash cycle

Before using the machine for the first time, run a wash programme at high temperature (90^) without laundry items and detergent to self-clean the washing machine:

Connect the washing machine to the power supply and turn on the stopcock.
Set the programme selector (2) to the Cotton 90^ programme.
Press the Start/Pause button (12).

12.2. Detergents and finishing agents

Follow the instructions of the manufacturers of fabric softeners and finishing agents.

Pour the detergent for the pre-wash cycle into compartment I (21).
Pour the detergent for the main wash cycle into compartment II (19).
For liquid detergent, insert the liquid detergent insert in compartment II (19). Make sure that the insert fits into the guide nose of compartment II (19).
Pour liquid detergent into the front chamber II separated from the liquid detergent insert (18). The liquid detergent insert prevents the liquid detergent from immediately flowing away. Note the dosage markings 100/150/200.
We recommend using liquid detergent for the wash programme at low temperatures.
Pour the fabric softener into the middle chamber (20) of the compartment marked with the symbol. Fabric softener is automatically added during the last rinse cycle.
Never add more fabric softener than indicated on the chamber of the compartment (MAX mark).
