How to turn on and set the temperature of the SilverCrest SHGB 50 C2 brush?

Plug in the power cord, then press and hold the button ⑤ (on/off) for 2 seconds. The display shows 180 °C flashing. Use buttons ③ (+) and ④ (-) to adjust the temperature between 100 °C and 180 °C in 10 °C increments. Once the temperature is reached, the display remains lit continuously.

What types of hair can be straightened with this brush?

This brush is designed for straightening natural human hair. It is suitable for bleached/lightened hair (100-120 °C), fine or colored hair (120-140 °C), and normal to thick hair (140-180 °C). Do not use on synthetic wigs or hairpieces.

What to do if the brush does not heat up?

Check that the power plug is properly inserted and that the power outlet works. If the problem persists, the device may be defective: contact customer service (France: 0800904879, Belgium: 080071011).

How to clean the brush?

Always unplug the device and let it cool down completely. Gently remove any hair caught in the bristles with your fingers. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh products and never immerse the device in water.

The brush turns off by itself, is that normal?

Yes, the brush is equipped with an automatic safety shut-off. If no button is pressed for about 40 minutes, the display flashes, and after 45 minutes, the device turns off. To turn it back on, press and hold the on/off button for 2 seconds.

Can I use the brush on wet hair?

No, hair should be clean, dry, and free of styling products (except special straightening products). Using on wet hair can damage both the hair and the device.

How to lock the buttons to prevent accidental temperature changes?

Press and hold button ④ (temperature -) for about 2 seconds. A padlock symbol appears on the display. To unlock, press and hold button ④ again for 2 seconds.

What to do if hair burns during straightening?

Reduce the set temperature. Avoid passing the brush over the same section multiple times and do not stay too long in one place. Use the temperature appropriate for your hair type (see table in the manual).

What is the warranty period and how to activate it?

The warranty is 3 years from the date of purchase. Keep the receipt as proof. In case of a defect, contact customer service (France: 0800904879, Belgium: 080071011) before returning the device.

Where to find the IAN number (item reference) of the brush?

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!

Connect the product only to properly installed mains power sockets supplying a mains power voltage of 220-240 V~, 50 Hz.

In event of operating malfunctions and before cleaning the product, remove the plug from the mains power socket.

Always pull on the plug to disconnect the product from the mains; never pull on the power cable itself.

Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or moist during use. Route the cable in such a way that it cannot be crushed or damaged.

• Never take hold of the product, the power cable or the power plug with wet hands.

In case of damage to the product or its power cable, request a replacement product or cable from the manufacturer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazards.
Do not use the product outdoors.
- Do not use extension cables - this will make it easier to disconnect the product quickly in an emergency.
Do not kink or crush the power cable, and route the cable so that it cannot be stepped on or tripped over.
Do not wrap the power cable around the product. Protect it from damage.

Never immerse the product in liquids or never allow liquids to penetrate the product housing. Do not subject the product to humidity. If liquid does get into the housing, disconnect the product from the mains power socket immediately and have the product repaired by a qualified technician.

WARNING! Do not use this product near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.

• Disconnect the product from the mains power source immediately after use. The product is completely free of electrical power only when unplugged.

As additional protection, we recommend you install a residual current circuit-breaker with an activation power rating of not more than 30mA for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.

When the product is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard even when the product is switched off.

• Keep the product out of reach from young children, particularly during use and cooling down.

When the product is connected to the power supply, never leave it unattended.

Never place the product close to sources of heat, and always protect the power cable from damage.

Do not operate the product if it has been dropped or is damaged in any way. Have the product checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians if necessary.

d The product heats up during use. Always hold the product by its handle when it is hot.
Never cover the product or put it down on soft materials (e.g. towels). Always place the switched-on/hot product on a stable, level and heat-resistant surface.

Unpacking

DANGER! Do not allow children to play with packaging materials. There is a risk of suffocation.

Remove all parts of the product from the carton.
Remove all packaging material.
Clean all parts of the product as described in the chapter "Cleaning and care".

Operation

• Switching on/off and setting the temperature

Insert the power plug into a mains power socket.
Press the 6 button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch on the product. 180^ flashes on the display 2, the product starts to heat up.
Use the +3 / -4 buttons to set a temperature between 100^ and 180^ in 10^ increments. The set temperature starts flashing on the display 2. As soon as the selected temperature is reached, the display lights up permanently.
Hold down the button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch off the product.
Pull out the power plug 7 and allow the product to cool down completely.

Key lock

To prevent accidentally changing the temperature during straightening, you can manually activate the key lock.

Hold down the + button 3 for approx. 2 seconds. The buttons are now locked and the lock symbol appears on the display 2
Press the button 3 again for approx. 2 seconds to deactivate the key lock. The buttons are now unlocked and the lock symbol disappears from the display 2

Automatic switch-off

If the product is switched on and no button is pressed for about 40 minutes, ^ C starts to flash in the display 2. After 45 minutes, the product switches itself off automatically and the display goes out.
Hold down the button 5 for approx. 2 seconds to switch the product back on.

NOTE: The automatic switch-off is a safety function only and is not intended as a replacement for switching the product off properly using the button 5.

Selecting the right temperature

Type of hair

Fine and colour-treated hair 120-140 °C

Normal to thick, natural hair 140-180 °C

Before first use: Adjust the temperature from 180^ to the lowest recommended temperature (see above table).
If required, adjust the temperature in small steps to reach the optimum temperature setting.

Straightening hair

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! Make sure that the ceramic coating of the brush insert 1 does not touch your scalp or other parts of your skin. Risk of burns!

① NOTES:

Excessive temperatures, extended contact with the hair or very frequent straightening can damage the hair. Do not treat a single strand of hair repeatedly, especially at high temperatures.
The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. The only exception to this are special products which facilitate hair straightening.

Comb the dry hair carefully.
- Switch on the product and set the desired temperature.
Section off an approximately 4 cm wide strand of hair. Hold it firmly at the tip using the index and middle finger of your free hand.
Now, guide the product evenly along the strand from the root to the tips. Do not rest the product on any part of the strand for a long time.
Work through the strands one at a time until you have straightened all the hair.
- Switch the product off when you have finished and pull out the power plug 7 . Allow the product to cool down completely before storing it.

Cleaning and care

- Cleaning

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Always remove the power plug 7 from the mains power socket before cleaning the product. Do not immerse the product in water or other liquids to clean it.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! Allow the product to cool sufficiently before cleaning it.
CAUTION! RISK OF PROPERTY

DAMAGE! Do not use any aggressive cleaning liquids or solvents. These can damage the surface of the product.

If any hair gets caught in the bristles of the product, remove it carefully, e.g. with your fingers.
Wipe the product off with a damp cloth as required.
- Allow the product to dry fully before using it again or storing it.

Storage

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! Allow the product to cool down sufficiently before storing it.

You can hang the product up by the hanger 6.
If you do not intend using the product for long periods:

• Clean the product as described in the "Cleaning" section.
• Wind up the power cable [7] and fasten it with the hook-and-loop tape supplied.
• Store the product in a clean and dry location.

Troubleshooting

Problem Cause Solution
The product is not working.	The power plug 7 is not inserted into a mains power socket.	Plug in the product.

The hair is not straightened. The product is not sufficiently heated up.	Wait until the product has heated up.

The hair is singed. You have treated the same hair with the hot product too often or stopped for too long in one position.	Do not treat a single strand of hair repeatedly, especially at high temperatures.
The set temperature is too high. Select a lower temperature.

Disposal

The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.

Observe the marking of the packaging materials for waste separation, which are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with following meaning: 1-7: plastics / 20-22: paper and fibreboard / 80-98: composite materials.

The product and packaging materials are recyclable, dispose of it separately for better waste treatment.

The Triman logo is valid in France only.

Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details of how to dispose of your worn-out product.

To help protect the environment, please dispose of the product properly when it has reached the end of its useful life and not in the household waste. Information on collection points and their opening hours can be obtained from your local authority.

Warranty

The product has been manufactured to strict quality guidelines and meticulously examined before delivery. In the event of product defects you have legal rights against the retailer of this product. Your legal rights are not limited in any way by our warranty detailed below.

The warranty for this product is 3 years from the date of purchase. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase. Please keep the original sales receipt in a safe location. This document is required as your proof of purchase.

Should this product show any fault in materials or manufacture within 3 years from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace it - at our choice - free of charge to you. This warranty becomes void if the product has been damaged, or used or maintained improperly.

The warranty applies to defects in material or manufacture. This warranty does not cover product parts subject to normal wear, thus possibly considered consumables (e.g. batteries) or for damage to fragile parts, e.g. switches, rechargeable batteries or glass parts.
