  • 1 x Ceiling mounting kit
  • 1 x Quickstart guide Key points Aluminium inverted dome tweeter: the tweeter developed for the 100-T UL Series uses Focal’s exclusive inverted dome technology for optimum energy transfer and limited directionality. The dome's aluminium guarantees exceptional performance in terms of lightness and dampening, to provide a silky and dynamic treble. Polyglass® cone speaker drivers: 100-T UL Series speaker driver cones are manufactured using Polyglass® technology. The glass beads added to the front panel of the cone stiffen its structure, thereby giving a rich mid-range coupled with a distortion-free bass. Protective grille with magnetic fastener: easy to fit, better integration. Can be used in damp environments: insensitive to humidity in the air, can be used in bathrooms, kitchens, etc. Ideal for installation on a yacht (indoors). However, do not expose the product to splashes of water or any other liquid. Mounting kit (optional): for mounting on a partition under construction. Transformer setting: 100-T UL Series integration loudspeakers have a transformer setting for 70/100V or 8Ω use. Choosing an amplifier In an 8Ω configuration: The excess power of an amplifier is not likely to damage loudspeakers. It is, quite the opposite, a lack of power. In the latter case, if the sound level is too high, the amplifier saturates and generates parasite signals that may damage the speaker drivers. The dynamic capacity and definition of the 100-T UL Series loudspeakers are sufficiently high to highlight the qualities and shortcomings of the amplifiers that will be used with them. Your dealer will be able to guide your choice to suit your tastes and budget. In a 70V/100V amplifier configuration: The use of an amplifier delivering 20% more power than the total power of the installation is recommended to avoid overloading or damaging the 100-T UL Series products.EN

User manual An amplifier used at full power, combined with a 70V/100V transformer, can deliver dangerous voltages. To avoid electric shock, always disconnect the power supply to the amplifier and transformer before carrying out any work. Installation is the customer’s sole responsibility. Focal is therefore not liable in any capacity whatsoever in the event of incident, accident and/or any other result or damage of any kind related to the installation of loudspeakers. Be sure to follow your amplifier’s recommendations for connecting each Integration 100-T UL Series loudspeaker correctly. Loudspeaker positioning 100-T UL Series loudspeakers have been designed to reproduce all forms of music as faithfully as possible. Nonetheless, a few simple rules should be followed to optimise their performance and to guarantee good tonal balance and a realistic sound image. Use in multiple loudspeaker systems (ceiling) For use in multiple loudspeaker systems (each loudspeaker working independently of the others), the loudspeakers can be installed according to your requirements and the room's architectural constraints. However, take care not to install the loudspeakers too close to a wall or a corner, to avoid excessive low- frequency levels. To guarantee optimum sound dispersion and uniform audio quality, the loudspeakers in the UL 100-T range have been developed to cover a wide sound field, and thus with low directionality. However, we recommend that you maintain a balanced spacing of at least 6.5 feet (2 metres) between each ceiling-mounted loudspeaker installed in your sound system. Cabling Be sure to follow your amplifier’s recommendations for connecting each Integration 100-T UL Series loudspeaker correctly. UL Series 100-T Integration loudspeakers must be connected to a 100V/70V line amplifier, in order to connect multiple speaker drivers with long cable runs. These connections can be made in parallel to chain the speakers together (fig. 1). This method allows you to connect the loudspeakers together directly, for a more flexible system. We recommend using a cable with a + / - marker and ensuring the polarity of the speaker drivers is respected. Choose cables of the appropriate quality and cross-section for the length of the installation. You dealer will be able to advise you. Here is a non-exhaustive table of recommended cable cross-sections for connection to a power amplifier: Cable cross-section (mm²) according to amplification power in watts and length Length (in feet/metres) 60W 120W 200W 300W 400W 500W 164ft (50m) 0.75

  • Before installing the loudspeakers, make sure that the corresponding positions on the ceiling are not obstructed by the routing of a ventilation duct or any cable that could interfere with the installation. Use the appropriate tools to help you determine suitable locations.
  • Make sure the ceiling is thick/deep enough to allow installation of the product.
  • Using the cut-out template supplied, trace the flush-mounting outline on the existing ceiling. Then cut along the line with an appropriate tool to create an opening in the ceiling (fig.3).
  • Do not install the speakers before laying the cables. Make sure you leave enough cable length to easily connect your product (about 19 3/4” /50cm) We recommend using a cable with a marker that ensures the polarity of the speaker drivers is respected. Choose quality cables with the appropriate cross-section for the length: your dealer will be able to advise you.
  • Add the supplied safety sling to attach your product securely to the ceiling (figs. 8, 9). Each loudspeaker must be connected to the supporting structure and, if the system allows, via 2 separate points of the structure.
  • The loudspeaker is fastened to the ceiling using rotating brackets. To do this, place the loudspeaker into the cut-out opening and turn the screw on the mounting brackets clockwise to tighten it using a Phillips screwdriver or a screw-gun. Make sure the tightening torque is set to a low value, to avoid damaging the fastening brackets (fig 10). The loudspeaker will be sufficiently fastened when resistance is felt at the end of tightening. New construction
  • Use the specific optional mounting kit.
  • Prepare the cables and make sure you leave enough cable length to easily connect your product (about 19 3/4” /50cm). We recommend using a cable with a marker to ensure the polarity of the speaker drivers is respected (+/-). Choose quality cables with a cross-section appropriate to the length. You dealer will be able to advise you.
  • The loudspeaker is fixed to the ceiling using rotating brackets. To do this, place the loudspeaker into the cut-out opening and turn the screw on the mounting brackets clockwise to tighten it using a Phillips screwdriver or a screw-gun. If a screwdriver is used, ensure that the tightening torque is set to a low value, to avoid damaging the fastening lugs (fig. 10). The loudspeaker is adequately attached when you feel resistance at the end of tightening. Power settings The transformer power settings for each product are on the front panel (fig. 11).EN

User manual SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS Running-in period The speaker drivers used in Integration 100-T UL Series loudspeakers are complex mechanical components: they require a period of adaptation to work at their best and adapt to the temperature and humidity conditions of your environment. This running-in period varies depending on the conditions in question and may take several weeks. To reduce this time, we recommend operating your loudspeakers for about twenty consecutive hours. Once the characteristics of the loudspeaker have been fully stabilised, you can enjoy the full performance of your Integration 100-T UL Series loudspeakers. Warranty terms and conditions In the event of a problem, please contact your Focal dealer. In France, the legal guarantee against hidden defects is valid for two years from the date the defect is detected. The legal guarantee of conformity for France is valid for two years from the date of purchase, and applies to all new Focal equipment. In the event of non-compliant equipment, you must send it – in its original packaging or equivalent packaging capable of fully protecting it during transportation – to the dealer, who will analyse the equipment and determine the nature of the fault. If it is under warranty and the conditions for activating the warranty are met, the equipment will be repaired or replaced in accordance with the legal guarantee conditions applicable on the date the device was purchased. Otherwise, an estimate for repair will be provided. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from inappropriate use or incorrect wiring (burnt out voice-coils, for example). Outside France, Focal equipment is covered by a warranty for which the terms and conditions are determined or implemented locally by the official Focal distributor for each country, in accordance with the laws in force in the region in question.
